    Processing parameters in the ball milling of niobium hydride: An optimization approach

    717-723Due to its particular properties, niobium has been widely used in the industry. In order to produce niobium-base parts, its powder can be obtained through a powder metallurgy’s method called ball milling. In this article, the ball milling parameters, in the production of niobium’s powder,have been optimized using the Taguchi’s method in order to obtain a high yield in the process, considering a particle size smaller than 75 mm. Taguchi’s method, among several experimental designs, has been chosen due to its simplicity, efficiency and systematic approach to determine the optimal parameters in a manufacturing process. The experimental results have been indicated that the milling speed and time are the main variables in the process. In addition, the morphology of niobium hydride particles with the lowest and highest yield has been analyzed through the electron microscopy’s scanner

    Este artigo tem como objetivo um estudo de análise de viabilidade financeira da implantação de um sistema de geração de energia solar no campus do IFMT Tangará da Serra. Para análise financeira foi feito um estudo e utilizado os parâmetros de payback, Valor Presente Líquido (VPL) e Taxa Interna de Retorno (TIR). Estas ferramentas de análise financeira irão auxiliar na verificação das condições e viabilidade de investimento em um sistema de energia solar, e auxiliar a tomada de decisões. Para validar a metodologia será realizado um estudo de caso com os dados de consumo elétrico do campus do IFMT Tangará da Serra. Os resultados obtidos com a análise de viabilidade financeira irão apresentar as condições de investimento, estimativa de retorno para o projeto, e demonstrar se ocorre a viabilidade para implantação do sistema de geração de energia solar, e a tomada de decisões. Ao final os resultados serão comparados com a literatura para validação

    Incidence of the tympanic foramen in the population of Northeast Brazil

    The persistence of the tympanic foramen (or of Huschke) in individuals after second childhood constitutes a failure in the embryological development of the tympanic cavity. When present, it is on the anterior wall of the external acoustic meatus and is associated with important otological complications of the temporomandibular joint and external acoustic meatus. To report on the incidence of tympanic foramen in adult dry skulls, belonging to the population of the Northeast of Brazil, 87 adult skulls obtained from the Human Anatomy Laboratory of 4 universities of the Northeast of Brazil, without knowledge of gender, race and age were analyzed. The 174 temporal bones were examined for presence, morphology and measurements of the longitudinal and transverse diameter of the tympanic foramen. The incidence of tympanic foramen was 24.14%, found in 15 (17.24%) skulls on the right and 18 (20.68%) on the left side. Unilateral tympanic foramen was observed in 10 (11.50%) skulls, bilateral in 9 (10.34%) and multiple in 2 (2.30%). The form of tympanic foramen was mainly irregular. In conclusion, the higher prevalence of tympanic foramen found in the Northeast among other studies carried out in Brazil can be attributed to specific dietary habits in the region that could induce the later foramen occlusion

    ABSTRACT Functional capacity, level of physical activity and risk of falls of elderly women participating in a cohabitation center in the interior of ParaíbaCommunity centers have promoted well-being and health, through the development of physical, cultural, educational and recreational activities, however, little is known about the potential that these activities promote in the biopsychosocial domains of users, especially in the Northeast of Brazil. The aim was to analyze physical activity level (PAL), cognitive function, functional capacity and risk of falls of elderly women participating in the Serviço de Convivência e Fortalecimento de Vínculos (SCFV) in Emas-PB. In an ex post facto study, elderly [n=6; age: 69 (7) years; BMI: 29.8 (6.4) kg/m2] underwent anamnesis and anthropometric measurements (body mass and height), PAL (IPAQ), cognitive function (Mini-mental state examination) and functional capacity (Berg Balance Scale, Functional Reach Test and Timed Up & Go). Spearman's Rho coefficient (ρ) was used to verify the relationship among the variables (P≤0.05). The results showed a low risk of falls for the majority of the elderly, although four elderly women reported a fall in the last 12 months. In addition, it was verified that the greater the time spent in physical activities, the lower the number of falls (ρ= −0.83; P=0.04). Age influenced the static and dynamic balance (P<0.05) and the mental state revealed a high relationship with the functional reach (ρ= 0.93; P= 0.01). Since the elderly have regularly attended SCFV activities for a year, participation in this community center seems to bring benefits to general health. Os centros de convivência têm promovido bem-estar e saúde, por meio do desenvolvimento de atividades físicas, culturais, educacionais e recreativas, contudo, pouco se sabe sobre o potencial que estas atividades promovem nos domínios biopsicossociais dos usuários, especialmente na região nordeste. O objetivo foi analisar o nível de atividade física (NAF), função cognitiva, capacidade funcional e risco de quedas de idosas participantes do Serviço de Convivência e Fortalecimento de Vínculos (SCFV) na cidade de Emas-PB. Em um estudo ex post facto, idosas [n=6; idade: 69 (7) anos; IMC: 29,8 (6,4) kg/m2] foram submetidas a uma anamnese e a medidas antropométricas (massa corporal e estatura), do NAF (IPAQ), da função cognitiva (Mini Exame do Estado Mental) e da capacidade funcional (Escala de Equilíbrio de Berg, Teste de Alcance Funcional e Timed Up & Go). Utilizou-se o coeficiente Rho de Spearman (ρ) para verificar o relacionamento entre as variáveis (P≤0,05). Os resultados demonstraram baixo risco de quedas para a maioria das idosas, embora quatro idosas tenham reportado queda nos últimos 12 meses. Além disso, verificou-se que quanto maior o tempo gasto em atividades físicas, menor o número de quedas (ρ= −0,83; P= 0,04). A idade influenciou o equilíbrio estático e dinâmico (P<0,05) e o estado mental apresentou elevado relacionamento com o alcance funcional (ρ= 0,93; P= 0,01). Uma vez que as idosas frequentaram regularmente as atividades no SCFV há um ano, a participação neste centro de convivência parece trazer benefícios à saúde geral.
