The bitter white lupin (Lupinus albus L.) is grown by small farmers in southern Chile, mostly from Mapuches ethnic group, and exported to some European and Arabic countries, where it is consumed as a snack. Both markets pay higher prices for bigger grains, although the European market is more demanding. The Boroa-INIA cultivar originated from a single plant collected in the Araucan\ueda Region (37뀰'-39뀰' S). This is a white lupin of indeterminate growing habit, belonging to the landrace known as "Local". The bitter lupins introduced in the nineties, called "alto-calibre" (high-caliber) by Chilean farmers, are interesting for their grain size, but are more susceptible to lupin anthracnose than the "Local" landrace and of lower yield. The main attribute of the Boroa-INIA cv. is a good mean grain weight, 636 mg grain-1 when sown at the appropriate time. This is 32% greater than the control representing the "Local" landrace average. At that mean grain weight, over 80% of Boroa-INIA grains reaches a caliber of 13 mm or bigger. Sown at the right time Boroa-INIA has yielded 6.3 t ha-1, and 4.8 t ha-1in late sowings. This variety is a contribution of the Chilean Institute of Agricultural Research (INIA) to the progress of small farming. Small farmers usually do not invest in improved seed; therefore bitter lupin is not attractive to private seed producers. Consequently, bitter lupin breeding activities have been undertaken by the public sector.

Introduction: it’s estimated that at least 150 million men worldwide suffer from erectile dysfunction that affects their quality of life. The objective of this research was to know the effectiveness and adverse effects of treatments for erectile dysfunction due to vascular damage. Methodology: systematic bibliographic review. WOS, Scopus, SciELO, PubMed, and LILACS were searched from 2012 to June 2023. The variables were human treatments, erectile dysfunction and blood vessels, MeSH, DeCS, and free key terms; Erectile dysfunction, pharmaceutical preparations, phosphodiesterase 5 inhibitors, blood vessels, arteries, treatment outcome, humans, combining with Boolean operators. Results: tadalafil, sindenafil and verdanafil, the use of alprostadil, herbal preparations in oral presentation, the placement of stents with zotarolimus/sirolimus showed statistically significant improvement in erectile dysfunction due to vascular damage in the corpora cavernosa tissue. The use of nebivolol in combination with phosphodiesterase 5 inhibitors demonstrated improvement in the relaxation mechanism for penile erection. Internal pudendal artery angioplasty did not show significant differences in the improvement of erectile dysfunction. Conclusion: phosphodiesterase 5 inhibitors, alprostadil, nebivolol, herbal preparations, and stenting proved to be safe and effective treatments in patients with erectile dysfunction with vascular pathology. The high rates of cardiovascular diseases make it necessary for the midwife to reconsider the challenge of taking sexual care beyond gender.

Automatic Routing System for Intelligent Warehouses

Automation of logistic processes is essential to improve productivity and reduce costs. In this context, intelligent warehouses are becoming a key to logistic systems thanks to their ability of optimizing transportation tasks and, consequently, reducing costs. This paper initially presents briefly routing systems applied on intelligent warehouses. Then, we present the approach used to develop our router system. This router system is able to solve traffic jams and collisions, generate conflict-free and optimized paths before sending the final paths to the robotic forklifts. It also verifies the progress of all tasks. When a problem occurs, the router system can change the task priorities, routes, etc. in order to avoid new conflicts. In the routing simulations, each vehicle executes its tasks starting from a predefined initial pose, moving to the desired position. Our algorithm is based on Dijkstra's shortest path and the time window approaches and it was implemented in C language. Computer simulation tests were used to validate the algorithm efficiency under different working conditions. Several simulations were carried out using the Player/Stage Simulator to test the algorithms. Thanks to the simulations, we could solve many faults and refine the algorithms before embedding them in real robots.Comment: 2010 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, International workshop on Robotics and Intelligent Transportation System, Full Day Workshop, May 7th 2010, Anchorage, Alaska. Introduction: the beta-alanine (BA) is one of the ergogenic aid most used by athletes, but the majority of the studies center the research on chronic supplementation. Objectives: to determine the acute effect of BA supplementation on a limited time test (LTT) at maximum aerobic speed (MAS) on endurance athletes. Material and method: eleven endurance athletes (VO2max 61.6 ± 9.5 mLO2·kg-1·min-1) were part of the study. The study consisted of a double- blind, cross-over intra-subject design, and the BA supplementation was 30 mg·kg-1 or placebo (PL) 60 minutes before completing a LTT. The variables were: time and distance in LTT, and post-effort lactate concentrations ([La]) in minutes 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9. The Student’s t test was used for the analysis and the size of the effect (SE) was measured through Cohen’s d test. Results: the time on LTT showed significant differences between BA and PL (p = 0.047; SE = 0.48). No significant differences were seen between both groups (p = 0.071; SE = 0.48), and [La] showed significant differences between both groups in minutes 3, 5 and 7, respectively (p < 0.05). Conclusion: acute supplementation with BA showed a significant increase in the execution time in LTT in the intensities connected to MAS. Hence, acute supplementation with BA is an ergogenic aid that could be considered by resistance athletes in order to increase the athletic performance
