    Solution phase synthesis of Na0.28V2O5 nanobelts into nanorings and the electrochemical performance in Li battery

    In this paper, we are the first to report a simple one step hydrothermal method to synthesize Na0.28V2O5 nanorings/nanobelts without using any organic surfactant/solvents at 130-160 degrees C for 1-2 days. The obtained products have been characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Raman spectroscopy, morphology by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and electrochemical discharge-charge test for lithium battery. XRD pattern exhibit a monoclinic Na0.28V2O5 structure. FTIR spectrum shows band at 958 cm(-1) is assigned to V=O stretching vibration, which is sensitive to intercalation and suggests that Na+ ions are inserted between the vanadium oxide layers. TEM analyses reveal that the products consist of nanorings of width about 500 nm and thickness of about 100 nm with inner diameter of 5-7 mu m. Nanobelts of width 70-100 nm and several tens of micrometers in length are observed. The electrochemical results show that nanorings/nanobelts exhibit an initial discharge capacity of 320 mAh g(-1) and its capacity still retained 175 mAh g(-1) even after 69 cycles.     A Protected And Lightweight Data Distribution Program For Mobile Cloud Computing

    Because of the widespread adoption of cloud computing, mobile devices may now store and access personal data from any location at any time. As a result, the data security issue in mobile cloud is becoming increasingly serious, impeding the growth of mobile cloud. There have been several researches undertaken in order to enhance cloud security. However, because mobile devices have limited processing capabilities and power, the majority of them are not suitable for mobile cloud. Mobile cloud applications require solutions with a low computational overhead. We propose a lightweight data sharing mechanism for mobile cloud computing in this work. It provides attribute description fields to achieve lazy-revocation, which is a difficult problem in CP-ABE systems based on programs. The experimental findings suggest that when users share data in mobile cloud settings, a lightweight data sharing technique may effectively minimize the overhead on the mobile device side

    Purification and characterization of digestive amylase from the tasar silkworm, Antheraea mylitta (Lepidoptera: Saturniidae)

    Digestive amylase was purified from larvae of Indian tasar silkworm, Antheraea mylitta using ammonium sulphate precipitation, glycogen complex precipitation and gel filtration chromatography. Specific activity increased from 0.673 AU/mg in the crude digestive juice to 94.80 AU/mg in the final purified sample. Activity of the purified enzyme was 15-fold less than that of the digestive amylase of silkworm. Bombyx mori. The zymogram pattern of the purified amylase was similar to that of crude digestive juice on 7.5% native PAGE. The purified enzyme exhibited five bands on native PAGE. IEF of the purified enzyme also revealed five bands with pls of 6.5, 6.15, 5.9, 5.8 and 4.7, respectively. The purified enzyme is a single polypeptide chain with a Mr of 58 kDa. The amylase is most active at pH 9.5 and is a Ca2+ dependent endoenzyme which hydrolyses starch into maltose, maltotriose and maltotetrose and hence behaves as an α-amylase (EC 3.2.1.1). The enzyme was unaffected by the presence or absence of CI-, with Km for soluble starch of 0.113%

    ANABOLIC EFFECT OF 17- METHYLTESTOSTERONE HORMONE ON CERTAIN BIOCHEMICAL PARAMETERS OF FISH, TILAPIA MOSSAMBICA

    One of the major sources of animal protein for human consumption is a fisheries resource. The demand for fishhas increased in recent years due to population growth and the constant search for a healthy diet. The present study was conducted to assess an anabolic impact of an androgenic hormone, 17-Methyltestosterone (MT) on Protein contentand RNA levels in certain tissues i.e. skeletal muscle, liver and gonad of fish, Tilapia mossambica. The hormone was incorporated in the feed and fed to the fish up to four weeks, in the form of three pelleted diets containing 4, 8 and 16 mg MT/ kg diet along with a fourth control group without hormone. The highest increment in tissue Protein content, RNA and DNA levels was observed under 16 mg MT/ kg diet followed by 8 mg MT/ kg diet and 4 mg MT/ kg diet in skeletal muscle, liver and gonad of fish. The more increase in Protein content, RNA and DNA levels was observed after 28 days of the 17-MT oral route of administration. Hence, it is clear that the anabolic hormones such as 17-MT hormone play an important role in enhancing the tissue protein content for nutritional purposes.There was not much change in DNA levels

    Effect of paclobutrazol and sucrose on in vitro cormel formation in gladiolus

    Studies with excised shoots of six gladiolus cultivars viz., Bellariana, Blue Moon, Cream White, Friendship, Her Majesty and Top Brass indicated that paclobutrazol enhanced early cormel initiation and development. The interaction between paclobutrazol and sucrose was significant for cormel size. Supplementation of 10 mg L–1 paclobutrazol and 120 g L–1 sucrose to Murashige and Skoog’s medium favored formation of bigger cormels. Among the cultivars response to exogenous sucrose supplementation varied significantly and absence of paclobutrazol produced longer leaves, roots and smaller cormels

    Genetic characterization of the silkworm Bombyx mori by simple sequence repeat (SSR)-anchored PCR

    Thirteen diverse strains of the silkworm Bombyx mori were analysed using the simple sequence repeat anchored polymerase chain reaction (SSR-anchored PCR) or Inter-SSR-PCR (ISSR-PCR). A set of four 5'-anchored and two 3'-anchored repeat primers amplified a total of 239 bands out of which 184 (77%) were polymorphic. The 5'-anchored primers revealed more distinct polymorphic markers than the 3'-anchored primers and the ISSR-PCR method showed greater variability than RAPDs. The strain-specific pattern was shown to be inherited and segregated in a Mendelian fashion. A dendrogram constructed using the UPGMA method revealed two distinct groups, one comprising nondiapausing and one comprising diapausing strains. These results suggest that the ISSR-PCR method is potentially useful for genetic fingerprinting of silkworm genotypes and as a mapping tool in the silkworm

    Smart Acknowledgement Distributed Channel Access Scheme for TCP in MANETs

    TCP upon wireless networks is most challenging issue because of random losses and ACK interference. Also, TCP suffers from performance declination in terms of creating delay and overhead in network because of poor characteristics of wireless channel. In order to overcome these issues, we proposed a Smart Acknowledgement Distributed Channel Access (SADCA) scheme for TCP in MANETs. In the proposed scheme, first a separate Access Category (AC) for data less TCP acknowledgement packets is used and then it is assigned with highest priority. In this way, delay during transmission of packet can be reduced and also packet can be acknowledged immediately. Also, to increase the performance, delay window size can be adjusted by considering the parameters such as transmission rate, number of hops, and channel occupied ratio (COR).     Synthesis of single crystalline (NH4)2V6O16·1.5H2O nest-like structures

    Novel nest-like (NH4)2V6O16·1.5H2O structures made of nanobelts have been synthesized by a facile hydrothermal approach. The powder X-ray diffraction pattern of the sample reveals the monoclinic crystalline phase of (NH4)2V6O16·1.5H2O. The scanning electron microscopy images of the sample obtained at 130 °C for 3 days exhibit nest-like morphology. The transmission electron microscopy result reveals that the nanobelts have a smooth surface. The selected area electron diffraction pattern of the nanobelts indicates single crystalline nature. The two major weight losses occur in thermogravimetric analysis which correspond to the removal of water and ammonia molecules. Further, calcination of the (NH4)2V6O16·1.5H2O product results in the formation of orthorhombic phase of shcherbianite V2O5

    The main aim of the study is to collect the ethnobotanical claims on therapeutic actions of twenty-seven (27) plant species belonging to Fourteen (14) families of angiosperms; practicing by tribal and rural people of Kadapa district, Andhra Pradesh. The study was directed in the tribal villages and provincial regions like; Badvel, Balapalli, Chitvel, Guvvala cheruvu, Kukkaladhoddi, Lankamalai, Mamandur, Palakonda hills, Pulivendula, Rajampeta, Rayachoti and Settipalli in Kadapa District. The governed tribal populations in these regions are Yanadhi accompanied by Yerukula, Nakkala, and Sugalis. Tribal and rural people of the investigated areas have been applying all these plant materials in the form of ash, boiled, crude, curry, decoction etc. for treating 27 disease conditions like; anorexia, bilious affections, piles, burning sensation in the stomach, cold and cough, dandruff, dental diseases, diarrhoea, dyspepsia, redness of eye, facial paralysis, fever, fissures, cracks, flatulence, haemorrhage, hair loss, indigestion, intestinal ulcers, loss of libido, migraine, pains, swellings etc. The botanical name, family name, habit, habitat, part(s) used, flowering and fruiting time, the name of the diseases against which the plants are used and mode of administration with dosage for most of the claims is discussed in detail. The provided information could be used to find new medications of natural origin by the systematic research on pharmacological and clinical trials
