    Three-point Functions in Sine-Liouville Theory

    Get PDF
We calculate the three-point functions in the sine-Liouville theory explicitly. The same calculation was done in the (unpublished) work of Fateev, Zamolodchikov and Zamolodchikov to check the conjectured duality between the sine-Liouville and the SL(2,R)/U(1) coset CFTs. The evaluation of correlators boils down to that of a free-field theory with a certain number of insertion of screening operators. We prove that the winding number conservation is violated up to (+-)1 in three-point functions, which is in agreement with the result of FZZ that in generic N-point correlators the winding number conservation is violated up to N-2 units. A new integral formula of Dotsenko-Fateev type is derived, using which we write down the generic three-point functions of tachyons explicitly. When the winding number is conserved, the resultant expression is shown to reproduce the correlators in the coset model correctly, including the group-theoretical factor. As an application, we also study the superstring theory on linear dilaton background which is described by super-Liouville theory. We obtain the three-point amplitude of tachyons in which the winding number conservation is violated.Comment: 26 pages, 5 ps figures, v2:minor corrections(references to the work of FZZ are made more precise

Rubber Hand Illusion under Delayed Visual Feedback

    Get PDF
BACKGROUND: Rubber hand illusion (RHI) is a subject's illusion of the self-ownership of a rubber hand that was touched synchronously with their own hand. Although previous studies have confirmed that this illusion disappears when the rubber hand was touched asynchronously with the subject's hand, the minimum temporal discrepancy of these two events for attenuation of RHI has not been examined. METHODOLOGY/PRINCIPAL FINDINGS: In this study, various temporal discrepancies between visual and tactile stimulations were introduced by using a visual feedback delay experimental setup, and RHI effects in each temporal discrepancy condition were systematically tested. The results showed that subjects felt significantly greater RHI effects with temporal discrepancies of less than 300 ms compared with longer temporal discrepancies. The RHI effects on reaching performance (proprioceptive drift) showed similar conditional differences. CONCLUSIONS/SIGNIFICANCE: Our results first demonstrated that a temporal discrepancy of less than 300 ms between visual stimulation of the rubber hand and tactile stimulation to the subject's own hand is preferable to induce strong sensation of RHI. We suggest that the time window of less than 300 ms is critical for multi-sensory integration processes constituting the self-body image

Installation of the superconducting gravimeter CT(#043) at Syowa Station, Antarctica

During the wintering period of the 44th Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition (JARE-44: February 2003 to January 2004), a new superconducting gravimeter CT(#043) with a cryocooler was installed and tested to replace the former TT70(#016) at Syowa Station, Antarctica. The CT(#043) has design sensitivity of 1nGal (1×10^(-11)m/s^2) to study the Earth\u27s dynamics in tidal and longer-period bands. A new type of diaphragm was used to effectively isolate the vibration from the refrigerator cold-head and to prevent solid air contamination from entering the Dewar. A real-time remote monitoring system including a Web camera for diagnostics from Japan has also been installed

Report on the optical and electric properties of the nitrate compound crystals

    Get PDF
The crystals of nitrates show various phase transitions. The crystal structure changes near the transition temperature Ttr. The characteristic phenomena, associated with the physical properties have been observed near the phase transition points. The optical and electric properties have been reported in the temperature region of the alkali and the rare earth nitrate crystals

Japanese Encephalitis Virus in Meningitis Patients, Japan

Cerebrospinal fluid specimens from 57 patients diagnosed with meningitis were tested for Japanese encephalitis virus. Total RNA was extracted from the specimens and amplified. Two products had highest homology with Nakayama strain and 2 with Ishikawa strain. Results suggest that Japanese encephalitis virus causes some aseptic meningitis in Japan
