    Current Trends in Assessment and Research in Global Education: The Computer Based Test of Joint Admission and Matriculation Board: Retain or Discard in Nigeria

    The study investigated the current trends in assessment and research in global education. The computer based test of Jamb retain or discard in Nigeria. The current knowledge driven era have caused many changes in order to catch up with the rest of the world. Computer Based Test of Jamb is one. Maintaining a level of integrity is another driving force for the introduction of computer based test. The study used three workforce of the society viz stakeholders, secondary school teachers and secondary students. Survey research design was introduced in the study. Three sampling methods were used to get the sample, they are purposive, cluster and stratified random sampling. Nine hundred (900) respondents were selected in the process. The instrument used for data collection was “Computer Based Test of Jamb Questionnaire (CBTOJQ) developed by the researchers. The instrument contained two sections A and B, “A” was all about bio-data of the respondents while “B” had fifteen items which was used to generate data for the study. Face and content validities were used to ascertain the validity of the instrument while Cronbach alpha method was used to determine the reliability of the instrument which resulted to 0.75. Data were analyzed using percentages to answer the research question while chi-square and Analysis of Variance (Anova) were employed to test the hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The results were discussed and certain recommendations were also made. That even though computer based test is fraught with malpractice, it could be strengthened the more with necessary paraphilia so as to catch up with the global trend. It should be retained

    Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui perbedaan aktivitas belajar dan prestasi belajar PKn antara siswa yang belajar dengan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD dan model pembelajaran konvensional. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan eksperimen pretest- posttest control group design. Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik probability sampling serta teknik analisis deskriptif dan analisis multivariat MANOVA. Hasil penelitian diperoleh kecenderungan aktifitas belajar siswa kelompok STAD Kooperatif dapat dikategorikan sedang. Kecenderungan aktifitas belajar siswa kelompok kontrol dapat dikategorikan sedang. Kecenderungan prestasi belajar siswa kelompok STAD kooperatif dapat dikategorikan baik. Kecenderungan prestasi belajar siswa kelompok konvensional dapat dikategorikan cukup baik. Terdapat perbedaan aktivitas dan prestasi belajar secara bersama-sama antara siswa yang belajar dengan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD dan model pembelajaran konvensional. Terdapat perbedaan aktivitas belajar PKn secara bersama-sama antara siswa yang belajar dengan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD dan model pembelajaran konvensional. The aim of this study was to find out differences in learning activities and learning achievement between the students who were learned with cooperative learning model of STAD type and conventional learning models. This study was used pretest-posttest control group design. Population in random. This study were used probability sampling technique and used descriptive analysis and MANOVA. The result of study showed there was a tendency of the student who was learning activity with the cooperative type STAD can be categorized as moderate. The tendency of learning acitivity of the control group students can be categorized as moderate. Tendency of the student achievement of STAD type cooperative groups can be categorized as good enough. Tendency of the student achievement of conventional groups can be categorized as good enough. There were differences in the activity and achievement learning simultaneously between the students who was studied with STAD type cooperative learning model and conventional learning models. There were differences in learning activity of PKn simultanoeusly between the students who was studied with STAD type cooperative learning model and conventional learning models. There were difference in achievement between the students who were learning of PKn with STAD type cooperative learning with conventional learning models

    MOS CCDs for the wide field imager on the XEUS spacecraft

    In recent years the XEUS mission concept has evolved and has been the subject of several industrial studies. The mission concept has now matured to the point that it could be proposed for a Phase A study and subsequent flight programme. The key feature of XEUS will be its X-ray optic with collecting area ~30-100x that of XMM. The mission is envisaged at an orbit around the L2 point in space, and is formed from two spacecraft; one for the mirrors, and the other for the focal plane detectors. With a focal length of 50m, the plate scale of the optic is 6.5x that of XMM, which using existing focal plane technology will reduce the effective field of view to a few arc minutes. Cryogenic instrumentation, with detector sizes of a few mm can only be used for narrow field studies of target objects, and a wide field instrument is under consideration using a DEPFET pixel array to image out to a diameter of 5 arcminutes, requiring an array of dimension 70mm. It is envisaged to extend this field of view possibly out to 15 arcminutes through the use of an outer detection ring comprised of MOS CCD

    The Intrinsic Fundamental Group of a Linear Category

    We provide an intrinsic definition of the fundamental group of a linear category over a ring as the automorphism group of the fibre functor on Galois coverings. If the universal covering exists, we prove that this group is isomorphic to the Galois group of the universal covering. The grading deduced from a Galois covering enables us to describe the canonical monomorphism from its automorphism group to the first Hochschild-Mitchell cohomology vector space.Comment: Final version, to appear in Algebras and Representation Theor

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui (1) perbedaan yang signifikan sikap sosial antara siswa yang mengikuti metode pembelajaran bermain peran dengan siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran konvensional, (2) perbedaan yang signifikan kemampuan berbicara bahasa Indonesia antara siswa yang mengikuti metode pembelajaran bermain peran dengan siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran konvensional, dan (3) secara simultan perbedaan yang signifikan sikap social dan kemampuan berbicara anatara kelompok siswa yang mengikuti metode pembelajaran bermain peran dengan kelompok siswa yang mengikuti metode pembelajaran konvensional. Penelitian ini termasuk jenis penelitian kuantitatif dengan desain eksperimentaal yaitu quasi experimental design dengan jenis posttest only control group design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VI di Gugus Ki Hajar Dewantara Denpasar Timur. Sampel penelitian ini yaitu siswa kelas VIA dan VIB SD N 29 Dangin Puri. Data dalam penelitian ini dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan instrumen berupa kuesioner dan rubric penilaian kinerja. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan uji-t dan manova. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan sikap sosial antara kelompok siswa yang mengikuti metode pembelajaran bermain peran dengan kelompok siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran konvensional, (2) terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan kemampuan berbicara bahasa Indonesia antara kelompok siswa yang mengikuti metode pembelajaran bermain peran dengan kelompok siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran konvensional, dan (3) secara simultan terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan sikap sosial dan kemampuan berbicara anatara kelompok siswa yang mengikuti metode pembelajaran bermain peran dengan kelompok siswa yang mengikuti metode pembelajaran konvensional. Population in this research was the entire sixth grade students in cluster Ki Hajar Dewantara Denpasar Timur and sample was sixth grade students in class A and B SD N 29 Dangin Puri. Data were collected using questionnaire and rubric. T-test and MANOVA were used to analyze data. The results show that: First, there is a significant difference in social attitude between students who learned using role-play learning method and students who learned using conventional learning method. Second, there is a significant difference in ability in speaking Indonesian between students who learned using role-play learning method and students who learned using conventional learning method.
