Exploring metrics for post-editing effort: and their ability to detect errors in machine translated output

As more companies integrate machine translation (MT) systems into their translation workflows, it becomes increasingly relevant to accurately measure post-editing (PE) effort. In this paper we explore how different types of errors in the MT output may affect PE effort, and take a closer look at the techniques used to measure it. For our experiment we curated a test suite of 60 EN > ES sentence pairs controlling certain features (sentence length, error frequency, topic, etc.) and had a group of 7 translators post-edit them using the PET tool, which helped collect temporal, technical and cognitive effort metrics. The results seem to challenge some previous error difficulty rankings; they also imply that, once other sentence features are controlled, the type of error to be addressed might not be as influential on effort as previously assumed. The low correlation values between the metrics for the different effort aspects may indicate that they do not reliably account for the full PE effort if not used in combination of one another

Analysis of implementation of the Design for Manufacturing methodology within Industry 4.0

Durante los últimos años, el desarrollo tecnológico ha marcado un cambio continuo tanto en los modelos de negocio como en los sistemas de producción. Esta transformación es el resultado de la llamada Industria 4.0, la cual nos lleva hacia un nuevo sistema globalizado de interconexión entre máquinas, humanos y sensores donde los límites entre el mundo físico y virtual se desvanecen, dando lugar a un nuevo contexto donde se genera la necesidad de adaptar las metodologías y procesos tradicionales, para que así las empresas puedan seguir manteniendo una posición competitiva en el mercado y satisfacer las demandas actuales. Dentro de las múltiples áreas posibles de aplicación, este trabajo se ha desarrollado dentro del área de Diseño Industrial, buscando comprender cómo las tecnologías de la Industria 4.0 podrían afectar a la metodología del Design for Manufacturing.During last years, technological development has marked a continuous change both in business models and production systems. This transformation is the result of the so-called Industry 4.0, which leads us towards a new globalized system of interconnection between machines, humans and sensors where the boundaries between the physical and virtual world vanish, giving rise to a new context where the need to adapt traditional methodologies and processes is generated, so that companies can continue to maintain a competitive position in the market and meet current demands. El ahorro del pequeño inversor

En este trabajo se analizan los acontecimientos que han llevado a la creación de las empresas de asesoramiento financiero, se estudian sus características más importantes y se muestra un ejemplo de su forma de operar. Para ello, en primer lugar, se hace un breve resumen del origen de la crisis de 2008 a nivel mundial y de su repercusión en el sistema financiero. A continuación, para señalar la importancia del ahorro, se aportan algunos datos de dos aspectos, que desde nuestro punto de vista, suponen quizá las razones más importantes que nos pueden empujar a la necesidad de ahorrar, la jubilación y el cuidado de nuestros hijos hasta su emancipación. Las empresas de asesoramiento financiero son una alternativa a las entidades bancarias a la hora de elegir sobre diferentes opciones para ahorrar o invertir.In this essay, the events that have led to the creation of financial advice enterprises are analyzed, their most important features studied and an example of their way of acting is shown. In order to do this, first there will be a brief summary of the 2008 global crisis and its repercussion in the financial system. Next, to stand out the importance of saving, some data about two aspects that in our opinion mean the most important reasons to force the necessity of saving, retirement and child care until their emancipation, are given. El uso de antídotos en el manejo de las Intoxicaciones Agudas

Introducción: Se considera tóxico todo elemento o compuesto químico que introducido en el organismo es capaz de producir en un órgano o sistema lesiones estructurales o funcionales e incluso la muerte. Las intoxicaciones agudas constituyen un problema de salud potencialmente grave, que representa el 1-2% de las urgencias médicas atendidas en los hospitales, y que por su prevalencia desde edades muy tempranas, se convierten en una patología que produce un elevado número de años potenciales de vida perdidos. Las medidas generales de tratamiento en todas las intoxicaciones comprenden dos fases: la aplicación de medidas generales, sintomáticas y de sostén para salvar la vida del paciente, y una segunda fase denominada detoxificación, que tiende a prevenir la absorción del tóxico, a incrementar su excreción y su neutralización mediante el empleo de antídotos. Objetivo: Conocer la evidencia actual sobre el manejo y la importancia de los antídotos en el tratamiento de las intoxicaciones agudas en los servicios de urgencias. Método: Revisión sistemática de la literatura. Discusión: Los antídotos constituyen un componente fundamental en el tratamiento de un paciente intoxicado, permitiendo contrarrestar los efectos nocivos del tóxico, acortando la estancia hospitalaria e incluso llegando a salvar la vida del intoxicado. Es necesario que el personal de enfermería de urgencias mantenga conocimientos adecuados para prestar el mejor cuidado posible dentro de un equipo multidisciplinar. La existencia de botiquines en la que se disponga de una guía de antídotos, aumenta la calidad en la asistencia al paciente intoxicado. Existe suficiente evidencia científica que demuestra que el uso de Carbón Activado, con carácter general, es un buen antídoto con escasos efectos secundarios.Grado en Enfermerí

En este artículo se defiende la idea de no recomendar la lectura de El Quijote a los estudiantes preuniversitarios porque no tienen la formación suficiente para disfrutar plenamente de la obra, lo cual produce efectos contrarios a los deseados en estos estudios: despertar, mantener, afianzar y aumentar el gusto por la lectura.In this article it supports the idea of not recommending reading El Quijote to pre-universitary students, because they lack enough knowledge to fully enjoy the book. Mainstream or special educational settings: the views of Spanish people with intellectual disabilities

This article aims to contribute to the debate on how different educational contexts can facilitate the inclusion or exclusion of people with intellectual disabilities (ID). We carried out a qualitative study based on the principles of inclusive research with 36 Spanish adults with ID. The data were gathered through individual interviews, which were transcribed, summarized, and adapted for later analysis and coding with participants. Together with participants, we coded the interviews into two main categories: “mainstream schools” and “special schools.” The results revealed the experiences of people with ID in mainstream schools, resource rooms, and special education schools, analyzing their preferences for regular or special contexts. The main conclusions drawn suggest that people with ID had both negative and positive experiences of inclusion at mainstream schools. Nevertheless, they preferred regular contexts, valued the help provided by SEN support teachers, and highlighted the importance of adjusting the curriculum to students' educational needs. They also emphasized the need for greater empathy from classmates at mainstream schools
