Annotated checklist and illustrated key to braconid parasitoids (Hymenoptera, Braconidae) of economically important fruit flies (Diptera, Tephritidae) in Brazil
The braconid parasitoids of fruit-infesting flies have been more intensively studied from the middle to late 1990s, when taxonomic research was restarted in Brazil. At the same time, efforts toward the biological control of fruit flies intensified, and an exotic species, Diachasmimorpha longicaudata, was introduced. In the decade 2010, another exotic species, Fopius arisanus, was introduced, and two new species of Doryctobracon were described. Currently, 12 species of braconids from the subfamilies Alysiinae (two species) and Opiinae (10 species) are associated with fruit flies of economic importance in Brazil, two of which are introduced species. More than half of the species belong to the genus Doryctobracon, with D. areolatus (Szépligeti) the most widely distributed species in Brazil.Fil: Fidelis Marinho, Claudia.

Metastable Markov chains: from the convergence of the trace to the convergence of the finite-dimensional distributions
We consider continuous-time Markov chains which display a family of wells at
the same depth. We provide sufficient conditions which entail the convergence
of the finite-dimensional distributions of the order parameter to the ones of a
finite state Markov chain. We also show that the state of the process can be
represented as a time-dependent convex combination of metastable states, each
of which is supported on one well
Using PepExplorer to Filter and Organize De Novo Peptide Sequencing Results
PepExplorer aids in the biological interpretation of de novo sequencing results; this is accomplished by assembling a list of homolog proteins obtained by aligning results from widely adopted de novo sequencing tools against a target‐decoy sequence database. Our tool relies on pattern recognition to ensure that the results satisfy a user‐given false‐discovery rate (FDR). For this, it employs a radial basis function neural network that considers the precursor charge states, de novo sequencing scores, the peptide lengths, and alignment scores. PepExplorer is recommended for studies addressing organisms with no genomic sequence available. PepExplorer is integrated into the PatternLab for proteomics environment, which makes available various tools for downstream data analysis, including the resources for quantitative and differential proteomics. © 2015 by John Wiley & Sons, Inc.Peer Reviewedhttps://deepblue.lib.umich.edu/bitstream/2027.42/152617/1/cpbi1327.pd
Competitiveness in tourist destinations: elements and indicators applied to a study of tourism management in Balneário Camboriú SC, Brazil
This paper considers tourism destination management and relationships between different players as competitiveness elements. The study aims to describe the tourism destination management ofBalneário Camboriú, SC, Brazil, adapting some indicators presented in the model of destinationcompetitiveness designed by Dwyer and Kim (2003). The conceptual framework approached three main guidelines to discuss the competitivenessin tourism destination: firms, nations and industries, followed by competitiveness theoric models. The research methods were qualitative based on data colleted in partially-structured interviews. The results suggested that local administration in the destination doesn't work in an integrated way to be said as an element of competitiveness.O trabalho considera a administração da destinação turística e as relações entre os diversos atores sociais como elementos de competitividade, tendo como objetivo caracterizar a administração do turismo em BalneárioCamboriú, aplicando uma adaptação dos indicadores de competitividade do modelo de Dwyer e Kim (2003).
The aim of this paper is to examine the ways in which fashion photography reflects an ideological attitude in relation to modern women in an analysis of Nova Magazine. This study focuses on the magazine numbers issued from July to December 1995 and concentrates on the observation of verbal and, mainly, nonverbal language as elements of the construction of seduction contexts, where women are treated as objects of desire. Our analysis shows the great contradiction implied in fashion editorials: while they present to women some liberation concepts, they cannot dissimulate their ‘macho’ point of view. The aim of this paper is to examine the ways in which fashion photography reflects an ideological attitude in relation to modern women in an analysis of Nova Magazine.
