Use of Taguchi Design of Experiments to Determine ALPLS Ascent Delta-5 Sensitivities and Total Mass Sensitivities to Release Conditions and Vehicle Parameters
The objective of this study is to evaluate the use of Taguchi's Design of Experiment Methods to improve the effectiveness of this and future parametric studies. Taguchi Methods will be applied in addition to the typical approach to provide a mechanism for comparing the results and the cost or effort necessary to complete the studies. It is anticipated that results of this study should include an improved systematic analysis process, an increase in information obtained at a lower cost, and a more robust, cost effective vehicle design
Second language learning: finding ways to successfully integrate ICT resources and right strategies for language learning, translation and interpreting
Second language learning: finding ways to integrate ICT resources and right strategies for language learning, translation and interpreting
Second language learning has gained importance as language accreditations have become imperative for any profession or academic career. Undergraduate students in Philology, Translation Studies, Tourism Studies or the like follow language accreditation programmes in order to be able to compile a valid and solid CV when they complete their degrees, master or PhD programmes. In the case of Translation students, they are subjects with strong motivation for language learning applied to translation or interpreting tasks. Language technologies and tools constitute an essential part of their learning processes and language teachers should find a way of optimising the use of these resources. For this purpose, we have conducted a survey among students, trying to find out which web resources they use, how they use them (or not) and why. Using these data, we considered new strategies to help students get the most out of these tools; in particular, we analysed the pros and cons of machine translation tools, such as deepL and Google Translator, as well as corpus linguistics tools.Universidad de Málaga. The politics of learning within Post-Yerevan EHEA: Some epistemological remarks on the role of university lecturers
XXI Jornades de Foment de la Investigació de la Facultat de Ciències Humanes i Socials (Any 2016)The last 20 years have witnessed a gradual and constant shift in the way society and transnational education institutions, namely the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), conceptualise and address the education/learning activity. That shift in the dominant education paradigm, epistemologically rooted, affects among other stances the role of lecturers, displacing the teaching figure from the centre towards the
periphery of the education process. The student-centred narratives in education have a direct impact on lecturers, their self-concept, and the expectations regarding their class contents and methodology. The following paper addresses that concern, advocating for a reconceptualisation of the role of lecturers under the current studentcentred epistemological approach
On the conformal gauge of a compact metric space
In this article we study the Ahlfors regular conformal gauge of a compact
metric space , and its conformal dimension .
Using a sequence of finite coverings of , we construct distances in its
Ahlfors regular conformal gauge of controlled Hausdorff dimension. We obtain in
this way a combinatorial description, up to bi-Lipschitz homeomorphisms, of all
the metrics in the gauge. We show how to compute using
the critical exponent associated to the combinatorial modulus.Comment: 49 pages, 9 figure
Corporate Board Structure, Managerial self-Dealing, and Common Agency
Corporate Boards usually come in two different shapes: unitary and dual. In the former, a single board/principal is responsible for monitoring and establishing performance targets; in the latter, these tasks are split between two boards/principals. This paper compares these two arrangements in terms of corporate performance and managerial self-dealing for a situation in which the CEO has private information. The equilibrium set of the common agency game induced by the dual board structure is fully characterized. Compared to a single board, a dual board demands less aggressive performance targets from the CEO, but exerts more monitoring. An unambiguous consequence of the first feature is that the CEO always exerts less effort toward production with a dual board. Due to the reduction in performance targets, the effect of a dual board on CEO’s self-dealing is ambiguous: there are equilibria in which, in spite of the increase in monitoring, self-dealing is higher in a dual system..
Molybdenum-catalyzed enantioselective sulfoxidation controlled by a nonclassical hydrogen bond between coordinated chiral imidazolium-based dicarboxylate and peroxido ligands
Chiral alkyl aryl sulfoxides were obtained by molybdenum-catalyzed oxidation of alkyl aryl sulfides with hydrogen peroxide as oxidant in mild conditions with high yields and moderate enantioselectivities. The asymmetry is generated by the use of imidazolium-based dicarboxylic compounds, HLR. The in-situ-generated catalyst, a mixture of aqueous [Mo(O)(O2)2(H2O)n] with HLR as chirality inductors, in the presence of [PPh4]Br, was identified as the anionic binuclear complex [PPh4]{[Mo(O)(O2)2(H2O)]2( -LR)}, according to spectroscopic data and Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations. A nonclassical hydrogen bond between one C–H bond of the alkyl R group of coordinated (LR)- and one oxygen atom of the peroxido ligand was identified as the interaction responsible for the asymmetry in the process. Additionally, the step that governs the enantioselectivity was theoretically analyzed by locating the transition states of the oxido-transfer to PhMeS of model complexes [Mo(O)(O2)2(H2O)( 1-O-LR)]- (R = H, iPr). The DDG6= is ca. 0 kcal mol-1 for R = H, racemic sulfoxide, meanwhile for chiral species the DDG6= of ca. 2 kcal mol-1 favors the formation of (R)-sulfoxide.Junta de Andalucía (Proyecto de Excelencia FQM-7079)Universidad de Sevilla (VI Plan Propio
