The Relationship Between Parental Physical Activity Levels and Their Child\u27s Body Mass Index
This study compared the relationships between parental physical activity levels and their child\u27s body mass index (BMI) using a convenience sample of volunteer parents at a school-based health clinic. Anonymously, parents completed a seven-question survey utilizing the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ). The data analysis indicated that parental physical activity did not have a significant influence on a child\u27s BMI. Forty-two percent of the children were overweight or at risk for overweight, demonstrating the need for increased physical activity and improved nutritional guidance. The school nurse has a significant role in providing education about health, nutrition, and obesity prevention strategies for students, staff members, and families
Patriarchal Culture\u27s Influence on Women’s Leadership Ascendancy
Biblical interpretations (hermeneutic) have influenced women’s ascension to leadership positions. A patriarchal societal framework that most Judeo-Christians have accepted as a norm often includes biased biblical interpretations regarding women. These interpretations are taken out of context, which reinforces old patterns that are incompatible with true leadership. This paper provides a literature review on women and leadership, with the literature indicating that a prevalent patriarchal perspective has influenced the portrayal of leadership roles in society. The literature on women leadership shows that many women might not be becoming CEOs or ascending to other high positions because of gender inequality in the workplace, a lack of sponsors, a lack of leadership-career aspirations, and companies’ preference for leadership styles based on masculine characteristics. The literature also reveals that women feel forced to assume masculine leadership styles, even though their preferences differ—an injustice to their leadership aptitude. In other words, the literature suggests there are more suitable leadership styles for women. Moreover, leadership styles based on context are more effective, and changing these biases and misapplications are critical to ensuring women ascend to leadership positions. This paper concludes with an analysis of the cognitive bias on women, which contributes to the lack of empathy for women ascending to leadership positions. In addition, future research suggestions and methods aimed at decreasing the inequalities women experience are provided
Trauma-Focused Interventions: A Clinical Practice Analysis
This paper presents a systematic review of trauma-treatment interventions, which have different theoretical perspectives on trauma etiology and its application. The empirical findings of these trauma treatment therapies are presented. The extant literature identifies five therapies as the most-effective treatment modalities for PTSD: cognitive therapy (CT), cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), cognitive processing therapy (CPT), prolonged exposure (PE) therapy, and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. They are all validated with some nuances on treatment approach and effectiveness. However, to use these five interventions, practitioners need to consider and apply the research findings that indicate which intervention is best for which population. Based on the findings, suggestions are made for which population the different interventions are best suited

Memristors for the Curious Outsiders
We present both an overview and a perspective of recent experimental advances
and proposed new approaches to performing computation using memristors. A
memristor is a 2-terminal passive component with a dynamic resistance depending
on an internal parameter. We provide an brief historical introduction, as well
as an overview over the physical mechanism that lead to memristive behavior.
This review is meant to guide nonpractitioners in the field of memristive

Automated Array Assembly, Phase 2
The Automated Array Assembly Task, Phase 2 of the Low Cost Silicon Solar Array Project is a process development task. The contract provides for the fabrication of modules from large area tandem junction cells (TJC). During this quarter, effort was focused on the design of a large area, approximately 36 sq cm, TJC and process verification runs. The large area TJC design was optimized for minimum I squared R power losses. In the TJM activity, the cell-module interfaces were defined, module substrates were formed and heat treated and clad metal interconnect strips were fabricated
Bio-inspired friction switches: adaptive pulley systems
Frictional influences in tendon-driven robotic systems are generally
unwanted, with efforts towards minimizing them where possible. In the human
hand however, the tendon-pulley system is found to be frictional with a
difference between high-loaded static post-eccentric and post-concentric force
production of 9-12% of the total output force. This difference can be directly
attributed to tendon-pulley friction. Exploiting this phenomenon for robotic
and prosthetic applications we can achieve a reduction of actuator size, weight
and consequently energy consumption. In this study, we present the design of a
bio-inspired friction switch. The adaptive pulley is designed to minimize the
influence of frictional forces under low and medium-loading conditions and
maximize it under high-loading conditions. This is achieved with a
dual-material system that consists of a high-friction silicone substrate and
low-friction polished steel pins. The system, designed to switch its frictional
properties between the low-loaded and high-loaded conditions, is described and
its behavior experimentally validated with respect to the number and spacing of
pins. The results validate its intended behavior, making it a viable choice for
robotic tendon-driven systems.Comment: Conference. First submission, before review
Phase diagram of two-dimensional hard ellipses
We report the phase diagram of two-dimensional hard ellipses as obtained from
replica exchange Monte Carlo simulations. The replica exchange is implemented
by expanding the isobaric ensemble in pressure. The phase diagram shows four
regions: isotropic, nematic, plastic, and solid (letting aside the hexatic
phase at the isotropic-plastic two-step transition [PRL 107, 155704 (2011)]).
At low anisotropies, the isotropic fluid turns into a plastic phase which in
turn yields a solid for increasing pressure (area fraction). Intermediate
anisotropies lead to a single first order transition (isotropic-solid).
Finally, large anisotropies yield an isotropic-nematic transition at low
pressures and a high-pressure nematic-solid transition. We obtain continuous
isotropic-nematic transitions. For the transitions involving quasi-long-range
positional ordering, i. e. isotropic-plastic, isotropic-solid, and
nematic-solid, we observe bimodal probability density functions. This supports
