In this article, we will aim to carry out a hermeneutical reading of the work Alejandro en Conil, as part of the cliff series of Conil (Cádiz), in order to approach an aesthetic vision of the artistic creation of Antonio Agudo. From this perespective, we will address the importance or influence that various ideas had on the chaotic nature, which emerged in his encounte r with America, as well as the symbolic fo r ce that, through the pictorial representation of his son, Junguian archetype of the father prints on the work of our author. With all that, it would be evident to what extent the worldview and the background of the collective unc o nscious are significant for Antonio Agudo ́s aesthetic thought

Giant coronary aneurysms are an extremely rare entity (affecting approximately 0.02% of the general population). Although the most frequent cause is atherosclerosis, their aetiology is quite diverse (including vasculitis, and connective tissue diseases). Clinically are frequently asymptomatic, being diagnosed as an incidental finding while studying other conditions. However, in uncommon cases, they can also pose serious risk, presenting as an acute coronary syndrome, as a pericardial tamponade, or even as a sudden death. Due to the lack of evidence, their management is still controversial, and is crucial to individualise the treatment to patient and aneurysm characteristics.

Because of its complexity, which is given to them by their peculiar position between aquatic and terrestrial environments, has not been easy classification thereof, and in this sense the use of the approach landscapes, may become a novel proposal and useful in the context of environmental management and optimization of the use of such space systems. In the province of Matanzas (Cuba), the landscapes of wetlands has great theoretical methodological and practical significance, and in this paper the criteria that were the basis for the proposed classification are described, the corresponding mapping and landscape regionalization occurs, all of which constitutes a contribution to the systematization of knowledge accumulated to date and provides a solid basis for decision-making related to environmental planning and land use

The nutritional and degradability characteristics of the organic wastes of banana (Musa paradisiaca L.) in La Troncal canton, Ecuador, green leaf, stem and rachis of the CAVENDISH and ORITO varieties were evaluated. The composition of the samples was evaluated on a dry basis by means of: Bromatological analysis (dry matter, crude protein, ash, ethereal extract, crude fiber, nitrogen free extract); Fiber analysis (NDF, FDA and LDA); Energy analysis (gross energy); and in situ degradability in cattle, using animals fistulated at the rumen level, of Brahman crossbred mixed race of 450 kg ± 20 kg live weight. Samples were incubated in the rumen using nylon bags for 0, 3, 6, 12, 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours. The results showed acceptable values for cattle feeding in terms of chemical content, fiber, energy and dry matter degradability. It was concluded that banana wastes (green leaf, stem and rachis) in the genetic materials (CAVENDISH and ORITO) can be part of the ruminant diet, especially that of cattle, due to their characterized nutritional content and the in situ degradability of the dry matter of the samples analyzed.

Reconstruction of global solar radiation time series from 1933 to 2013 at the Izaña Atmospheric Observatory

This paper presents the reconstruction of the 80-year time series of daily global solar radiation (GSR) at the subtropical high-mountain Izaña Atmospheric Observatory (IZO) located in Tenerife (The Canary Islands, Spain). For this purpose, we combine GSR estimates from sunshine duration (SD) data using the Ångström–Prescott method over the 1933/1991 period, and GSR observations directly performed by pyranometers between 1992 and 2013. Since GSR measurements have been used as a reference, a strict quality control has been applied based on principles of physical limits and comparison with LibRadtran model. By comparing with high quality GSR measurements, the precision and consistency over time of GSR estimations from SD data have been successfully documented. We obtain an overall root mean square error (RMSE) of 9.2% and an agreement between the variances of GSR estimations and GSR measurements within 92%. Nonetheless, this agreement significantly increases when the GSR estimation is done considering different daily fractions of clear sky (FCS).Financial support from the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness (MINECO) and from the “Fondo Europeo de Desarrollo Regional” (FEDER) for projects CGL2011-23413, CGL2012-33576 and CGL2012-37505 is acknowledged

Póster elaborado para el International Symposium CLIMA-ES 2015 celebrado en Tortosa, Spain, los días 11-13 March 2015.Solar radiation controls the energy radiative balance in the Earth and, thus, our weather and climate. For this reason, its study has been one of the main objectives of the research community during the last decades. Recently, the focus is on evaluating long-term trends of solar radiation reaching the Earth‟s surface as well as on identifying the variability driven by the climate change. Observational evidences of changes on global solar radiation (GSR) trends have already been reported at a global scale. In this context, the goal of this work is to perform a reconstruction of the GSR time series between 1933 and 2013 at the subtropical high-mountain Izaña Atmospheric Observatory (IZA) located in Tenerife (28.3°N, 16.5°W, 2373 m a.s.l., Spain). For this purpose, we combine GSR estimates from sunshine duration (SD) data using the Ångström–Prescott method over the 1933/1991 period, and GSR observations directly performed by different pyranometers between 1992 and 2013.This work was developed under the Specific Agreement of Collaboration between the Meteorological State Agency (AEMET) of Spain and the University of Valladolid. This study was supported by grants from the FIBAO foundation (Granada, Spain) and from the Instituto de Salud Carlos III (PI12/02688, PI17/02256 and PI20/01845; Madrid, Spain). In this study, we have evaluated whether 57 genome-wide association studies (GWAS)-identified common variants for type 2 diabetes (T2D) influence the risk of developing prostate cancer (PCa) in a population of 304 Caucasian PCa patients and 686 controls. The association of selected single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) with the risk of PCa was validated through meta-analysis of our data with those from the UKBiobank and FinnGen cohorts, but also previously published genetic studies. We also evaluated whether T2D SNPs associated with PCa risk could influence host immune responses by analysing their correlation with absolute numbers of 91 blood-derived cell populations and circulating levels of 103 immunological proteins and 7 steroid hormones. We also investigated the correlation of the most interesting SNPs with cytokine levels after in vitro stimulation of whole blood, peripheral mononuclear cells (PBMCs), and monocyte-derived macrophages with LPS, PHA, Pam3Cys, and Staphylococcus Aureus. The meta-analysis of our data with those from six large cohorts confirmed that each copy of the FTOrs9939609A, HNF1B(rs7501939T), HNF1B(rs75721T), HNF1B(rs4430796G), and JAZF1(rs10486567A) alleles significantly decreased risk of developing PCa (p = 3.70 x 10(-5), p = 9.39 x 10(-54), p = 5.04 x 10(-54), p = 1.19 x 10(-71), and p = 1.66 x 10(-18), respectively). Although it was not statistically significant after correction for multiple testing, we also found that the NOTCH2(rs10923931T) and RBMS1(rs7593730) SNPs associated with the risk of developing PCa (p = 8.49 x 10(-4) and 0.004). Interestingly, we found that the protective effect attributed to the HFN1B locus could be mediated by the SULT1A1 protein (p = 0.00030), an arylsulfotransferase that catalyzes the sulfate conjugation of many hormones, neurotransmitters, drugs, and xenobiotic compounds. In addition to these results, eQTL analysis revealed that the HNF1B(rs7501939), HNF1B(rs757210), HNF1B(rs4430796), NOTCH2(rs10923931), and RBMS1(rs7593730) SNPs influence the risk of PCa through the modulation of mRNA levels of their respective genes in whole blood and/or liver. These results confirm that functional TD2-related variants influence the risk of developing PCa, but also highlight the need of additional experiments to validate our functional results in a tumoral tissue context.FIBAO foundation (Granada, Spain)Instituto de Salud Carlos III PI12/02688 PI17/02256 PI20/0184
