Skolbibliotekarien som grÀnsöverskridare : en studie av skolbibliotekariers roll i skolans praktiklandskap
Studies show that collaboration between teachers and school librarians has a positive impact on studentsâ learning. However, the school librarianâs function and integration in the schoolâs educational activities can strongly vary. The librarianâs professional role has furthermore been a question for debate by both librarians and academics. Consequently, the role of the school librarian is indistinct. The purpose of this study is to identify cross-border encounters between school librariansâ and teachersâ communities of practice, in order to discuss the school librariansâ professional role. We interviewed seven school librarians and used their experience of guided inquiry as an exemplification of collaboration. The study is based on a practice theoretical approach, with Jean Lave and Etienne Wengerâs concept of communities of practice in focus. We also used theory of professions to examine the role of the school librarian. We identify the school librarians as part of a community of practice with a library and information science based domain. They are part of a complex landscape of practice within the school environment and they often cross the boundaries into the teacherâs communities of practice. The school librarians in the study work across boundaries, either with influences from what Wenger-Trayner and Wenger-Trayner call brokers or systems conveners or both. We furthermore identify guided inquiry as a possible boundary object that can facilitate the translation between the school librarianâs and the teacherâs communities of practice and thereby clarify the role of the school librarian. It can also create contact areas in the boundaries in the schoolâs landscape of practice and promote further collaboration. We argue that in order to make the school librarianâs professional role more distinct, the role must be based on library and information science and research and not solely dependent upon the effort of the individual school librarian. This additionally becomes a question of equal educational opportunity for all Swedish students and hence a matter of democracy
Total Rhythm in Three Dimensions: Towards a Motional Theory of Melodic Dance Rhythm in Swedish Polska Music
In this article I present an ethnotheory of the music/dance relationship in Swedish polska, based on dance fieldwork and interviews I have conducted with polska dance musicians. I discuss three mechanisms that these musicians use to communicate movement patterns to dancers: iteration (entrainment via repetition), metaphor (timbral weight conveying motional weight), and sympathy (musiciansâ movements mapping dance movements). I then discuss how musicians use these mechanisms to control four motional parameters: pulsation (rate and consistency of tempo), lean (degree and direction of tilt over the dance axis) viscosity (level of perceived air resistance), and libration (degree and timing of vertical motion). The work is intended in part as a case study of how theories of both music and dance can benefit from a focused analysis of the relationship between those two domains, as well as how studies of music/dance relations can benefit from the application of ethnographic research techniques
Tre subteman presenteras under varje huvudtema.

A Novel Qualitative and Quantitative Biofilm Assay Based on 3D Soft Tissue
The lack of predictable in vitro methods to analyze antimicrobial activity could play a role in the development of resistance to antibiotics. Current used methods analyze planktonic cells but for the method to be clinically relevant, biofilm in in vivo like conditions ought to be studied. Hence, our group has developed a qualitative and quantitative method with in vivo like 3D tissue for prediction of antimicrobial activity in reality. Devices (wound dressings) were applied on top of Pseudomonas aeruginosa inoculated Muller-Hinton (MH) agar or 3D synthetic soft tissues (SST) and incubated for 24 hours. The antibacterial activity was then analyzed visually and by viable counts. On MH agar two out of three silver containing devices showed zone of inhibitions (ZOI) and on SST, ZOI were detected for all three. Corroborating results were found upon evaluating the bacterial load in SST and shown to be silver concentration dependent. In conclusion, a novel method was developed combining visual rapid screening and quantitative evaluation of the antimicrobial activity in both tissue and devices. It uses tissue allowing biofilm formation thus mimicking reality closely. These conditions are essential in order to predict antimicrobial activity of medical devices in the task to prevent device related infections
Plasma Levels of Rifampin Correlate with the Tuberculosis Drug Activity Assay
The plasma tuberculosis drug activity (TDA) assay may be an alternative tool for therapeutic drug monitoring in resource-limited settings. In tuberculosis (TB) patients (n = 30), TDA and plasma levels of first-line drugs were analyzed 2 h post-dose, 2 weeks after treatment initiation. Patients with plasma levels of rifampin lower than 8 mg/liter had a significantly lower median TDA (1.40 versus 1.68, P = 0.0013). TDA may be used to identify TB patients with suboptimal rifampin levels during TB treatment.Funding Agencies|Research Council of Southeast Sweden (FORSS); Marianne and Marcus Wallenberg Foundation; Swedish Heart and Lung Foundation; Region of Ostergotland, Sweden; Swedish Research Council</p
