Recent Results in Scalar QED
In this talk we present some recent and new results on the phase structure
and the continuum limit of lattice formulation of pure gauge QED coupled to
Higgs fields. We show the presence of second order phase transition lines
allowing for a continuum limit. Nevertheless, finite size analysis shows that
this theory is logarithmically trivial. The role of magnetic monopoles is also
shown.Comment: PS file with figures included, 3 pag., Pre-UAB-FT-330 (to appear in

Second-Generation South Asian Muslims in the United States
This paper unlocked many of the values and beliefs held by young second generation South Asian Muslims in the United States. Especially fascinating were their views on marriage, language, family and culture. This paper also made an effort to compare and contrast the respondents??? views to one another. Since research on this group of people and these topics has thus far been limited, this paper will serve to open the door to more research in the future. Initially, this research project involved using the concept of ???culture shock??? to assess the assimilation of second generation South Asian Muslim immigrants. However, as my research will demonstrate, culture shock does not necessarily influence one???s connection to one???s native land. This particular demographic of second generation South Asian Muslim immigrants, although very particular in nature, actually represents a wide range of ideas, opinions and beliefs.unpublishe
Effect of strength of gravitational field on electrode processes
Gravitational transformation of free energy dictates cell potential to be
lower near the vicinity of massive planet which results in the slower oxidation
and reduction of ions at their respective electrodes, in lower gravitational
field. The newly formulated gravitational transformations formulates decrease
in the electrode potential, cell potential and electrochemical rate constants
at lower gravitational field, this is due to greater flux of gravitons escaping
in to higher dimensions at lower gravitational fields than at higher
gravitational fields
Securing the Internet of Things Infrastructure - Standards and Techniques
The Internet of Things (IoT) infrastructure is a conglomerate of electronic devices interconnected through the Internet, with the purpose of providing prompt and effective service to end-users. Applications running on an IoT infrastructure generally handle sensitive information such as a patient’s healthcare record, the position of a logistic vehicle, or the temperature readings obtained through wireless sensor nodes deployed in a bushland. The protection of such information from unlawful disclosure, tampering or modification, as well as the unscathed presence of IoT devices, in adversarial environments, is of prime concern. In this paper, a descriptive analysis of the security of standards and technologies for protecting the IoT communication channel from adversarial threats is provided. In addition, two paradigms for securing the IoT infrastructure, namely, common key based and paired key based, are proposed
Performance Analysis of Discrete Wavelet Multitone Transceiver for Narrowband PLC in Smart Grid
Smart Grid is an abstract idea, which involves the utilization of powerlines for sensing, measurement, control and communication for efficient utilization and distribution of energy, as well as automation of meter reading, load management and capillary control of Green Energy resources connected to the grid. Powerline Communication (PLC) has assumed a new role in the Smart Grid scenario, adopting the narrowband PLC (NB-PLC) for a low cost and low data rate communication for applications such as, automatic meter reading, dynamic management of load, etc. In this paper, we have proposed and simulated a discrete wavelet multitone (DWMT) transceiver in the presence of impulse noise for the NB-PLC channel applications in Smart Grid. The simulation results show that a DWMT transceiver outperforms a DFT-DMT with reference to the bit error rate (BER) performance
HybridMiner: Mining Maximal Frequent Itemsets Using Hybrid Database Representation Approach
In this paper we present a novel hybrid (arraybased layout and vertical
bitmap layout) database representation approach for mining complete Maximal
Frequent Itemset (MFI) on sparse and large datasets. Our work is novel in terms
of scalability, item search order and two horizontal and vertical projection
techniques. We also present a maximal algorithm using this hybrid database
representation approach. Different experimental results on real and sparse
benchmark datasets show that our approach is better than previous state of art
maximal algorithms.Comment: 8 Pages In the proceedings of 9th IEEE-INMIC 2005, Karachi, Pakistan,
