Evlilik Öncesi Alışverişte Kişisel Değerlerin, Hedonik ve Faydacı Tüketimin Sosyal Karşılaştırma Üzerine Etkisi
Values are the set of standards that guide persons throughout their life. Values that are central to individuals' lives also play an important role in their consumption preferences and purchasing decisions process. Today, the consumer does not consider only rational benefit when purchasing a product or a brand, but also aims to obtain emotional benefits such as happiness and pleasure. The consumer is also affected by what other people think while making a purchasing decision for the product and the brand; uses their attitudes and behaviors as criteria by comparing them with other individuals. Social and cultural changes from past to present have deeply affected the phenomenon of marriage and consumption in many aspects. The developments experienced have caused changes in individuals' attitudes and behaviors towards consumption that wedding shopping process and before. To that end, it is essential to determining for consumer consumption preference, and is necessary to know the effects of personal values, hedonic and utilitarian consumption tendencies on social comparison in which compare themselves with others.
This research aims to identify the effects of personal values, hedonic and utilitarian consumption on social comparison concerning wedding shopping, and introduces a model to achieve this aim. Data were collected through the online questionnaire. The participants, selected via snowball sampling on social media were requested to complete the questionnaire through iMessage and Whatsapp.
Structural equation modeling was used to analyze the relationship between variables in the model. The analyses suggest that hedonic and utilitarian consumption have an impact on social comparison but personal values don’t. On the other hand, it has been found that consumer's experiences that marriage shopping is on the basis of hedonic or utilitarian consumption become different according to gender and education level. In addition to this, there is a significant relationship between the consumers' apply for bank loans and the level of comparing themselves to other individuals.
The Effects of Preschool Attendance on Perspective Taking Skills of Turkish Children
Perspective taking is one of the basic skills necessary for an individual to succeed in
social life and begins to develop in early ages. In the present study, we examined the
effect of preschool attendance on the perspective taking skills of children. The sample
included 48-72 months children who attended (n=100) and did not attend (n=100)
preschool. We utilized the "Perspective Taking Scale for Children (PTC)" developed by
Aslan and Köksal-Akyol (2016) as the data collection instrument in the study. We
collected the data through individual interviews conducted with the children. At the
end of the study, we found that preschool attendance had a significant effect on
children's perspective taking skills, and this effect commenced at early ages.
Furthermore, we determined that age and preschool attendance significantly predicted
the perspective taking skills of children
Molecular epidemiological characteristics of Brucella spp. isolated from human and animal brucellosis
WOS: 000466333800022Brucellosis is the most common zoonotic disease in the Mediterranean region where Turkey is located. Therefore, particularly in this region, it is crucial to follow molecular surveillance methods for the control and eradication of this disease agent, which threatens both human and animal life. We have conducted a molecular-based surveillance study for detecting the origin of the possible reservoir in human brucellosis and transmission of Brucella spp. between humans and ruminants. For the detection of clonal relationships, we isolated Brucella spp. from human and ruminants diagnosed with brucellosis and evaluated them by PFGE and MLVA methods. We found 10 subclusters in PFGE and 22 subclusters in MLVA-16. Human and ruminant isolates were found to co-exist in MLVA-16-m1 and PFGE-a8, a9, a10 subcluster by both methods. In conclusion, the results revealed that these subcluster isolates that co-exist some ruminant and human isolates can be more effective in infecting humans.Cukurova University Scientific Research FundCukurova University [TF2013D2]This research was financially supported by Cukurova University Scientific Research Fund (Project no: TF2013D2)

Molecular Characterization of Cyclamen Species Collected from Different Parts of Turkey by RAPD and SRAP Markers
The genus Cyclamen (family Myrsinaceae) contains about 20 species, most of which occur in the Mediterranean region. Turkey has critically important Cyclamen genetic resources. Molecular characterization of plant materials collected from different regions of Turkey in which Cyclamen species grow naturally, namely Adana, Antalya, Aydin, Mugla, Izmir, Denizli, Kahramanmaras, Osmaniye, Eskisehir, Trabzon, and Rize provinces, was performed using RAPD and SRAP markers. DNA was successfully amplified by 30 RAPD primers and 14 SRAP primer pairs. Among the 470 bands generated by the RAPD primers, 467 were polymorphic. The number of bands detected by a single primer set ranged from 11 to 22 (average of 15.6). The percentage polymorphism was 99.3 % based on the RAPD data. In the SRAP analysis, a total of 216 bands were generated, showing 100 % polymorphism. The number of bands detected by a single primer set ranged from 9 to 22 (average of 15.4). All data were scored and UPGMA dendrograms were constructed with similar results in both marker systems, i.e., different species from nine provinces of Turkey were separated from each other in the dendrograms with the same species being clustered together
