    Study of the Intra-Coronal Pressure Generated by Internal Bleaching Agents and Its Influence on Temporary Restoration

    Intra-coronal bleaching is a treatment that whitens non-vital teeth from within the pulp chamber, a procedure by which oxygen and free radicals are released. This in vitro study analyzed and compares the oxygen expansion produced when different bleaching agents encounter dental tissues during this type of bleaching. Here, 120 lower incisors were included and prepared to achieve conditions as close as practicable to internal bleaching with the walking bleach technique. The access cavity of the lingual surface was prepared to seal glass tubes with oil inside them by adhesive restoration once the bleach was placed inside the pulp chamber. The following bleaching groups were used: hydrogen peroxide (HP) 30% (n = 30), sodium Perborate (SP) with distilled water (n = 30), a mixture of HP 30% with SP (n = 30) and a control group (n = 30). After 10 days, the oil displacement that took place through the tube due to oxygen release was measured daily. Displacement of the oil was observed in all groups except the control group. The final mean expansion at 10 days was 335.24 ± 76.85 mm for the HP 30% group, 8.40 ± 1.74 mm for the SP group and 183.07 ± 49.93 mm for the HP30% + SP mixture. Significant statistical differences were observed between the three groups using the Games–Howell post hoc test, where HP30% caused the greatest expansion and SP the least expansion. These results suggest that the higher the amount of HP in the sample, the more oxygen expansion is observed, so that temporary restoration must be performed more carefully to avoid displacement

    In Vitro Study on the Influence of Silver Diamine Fluoride on the Adhesion Strength of Dental Restorative Materials

    Silver diamine fluoride (SDF) has demonstrated its clinical success for years in the arrest of caries lesions; however, the influence it could have on the success of restorations after its application still remains unknown. The purpose of this research was to study the relationship between the use of SDF and the adhesive strength of the materials used in restorations made with glass ionomers and composite resin, as well as with different adhesive systems. A sample consisting of 240 teeth divided into eight groups with 30 teeth in each of them (n = 30) was used. In these groups, the use of restoration with composite resin and glass ionomer was compared using different adhesive systems, with and without prior application of SDF. Notable differences in adherence were observed among the different groups depending on the filling material. There is also a significant effect of tooth type on adhesion. We can conclude that there is a relationship between the use of SDF and the adhesion between the tooth and the restorative materials analyzed.The authors thank the Catholic University of Valencia San Vicente Mártir for their contribution and help in the payment of the Open Access publication fee under grant number 2021-196-001

    Intervención educativa en el alumnado con trastorno por déficit de atención e hiperactividad en la Educación Secundaria

    Resumen tomado de la publicación.A los primeros indicios de dificultades de aprendizaje en general, y del TDAH en particular no es infrecuente escuchar opiniones de carácter subjetivo o prejuicioso en torno al alumnado que lo presenta. Si éstas proceden de los profesionales, en los que los padres confían, pueden tener además un efecto devastador, por ello es tan necesario crear materiales como el presente para dar a conocer de forma objetiva e imparcial las características de estos alumnos y la mejor forma de intervenir en los centros de Secundaria con ellos. Con la finalidad de paliar esta sintomatología se ha creado en Murcia un Equipo de Orientación Educativa Específico de Dificultades del Aprendizaje para mejorar la atención educativa y psicopedagógica a este alumnado y para crear las bases de un modelo de escuela inclusiva en esta región basada en la convicción de que estos alumnos que atendemos pueden aprender si partimos de este modelo, consiguiendo que se produzcan actuaciones metodológicas y didácticas que faciliten oportunidades de aprendizaje adaptadas a las características y a sus peculiares formas de aprender. Hay que ser permeables a las visiones y opiniones de los propios afectados, así como de sus familias, las asociaciones que les representan y demás profesionales que les atienden desde otros ámbitos, para poder diseñar las nuevas estrategias y cambios que permitan su inclusión con éxito en nuestro sistema educativo, sin olvidar tampoco el diagnóstico precoz y la intervención temprana.     A Biomechanical Analysis of the Influence of the Morfology of the Bone Blocks Grafts on the Transfer of Tension or Load to the Soft Tissue by Means of the Finite Elements Method

    Edentulism produces resorption of alveolar bone processes, which can complicate placement of dental implants. Guided bone regeneration techniques aim to recover the volume of bone. These treatments are susceptible to the surgical technique employed, the design of the autologous block or the tension of the suture. These factors can relate to major complications as the lack of primary closure and dehiscence. The present study, using finite element analysis, aimed to determine differences in terms of displacement of the oral mucosa, transferred stress according to Von Mises and deformation of soft tissue when two block graft designs (right-angled and rounded) and two levels of suture tension (0.05 and 0.2 N) were combined. The results showed that all the variables analyzed were greater with 0.2 N. Regarding the design of the block, no difference was found in the transferred stress and deformation of the soft tissue. However, displacement was related to a tendency to dehiscence (25% greater in the right-angled/chamfer design). In conclusion different biomechanical behavior was observed in the block graft depending on the design and suture tension, so it is recommended to use low suture tension and rounded design.
