    The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the reading comprehension skills of the descriptive text and the writing skills of the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Bonjol. This research used quantitative research using a descriptive correlational design. In this study, there were two variables, namely the X variable and the Y variable. The X variable was the reading comprehension skill, while the Y variable was the description text writing skill. The research instruments were objective tests and performance tests. The data of this study are the results of the reading comprehension skills test and the results of the descriptive text writing skills test. The test results were compared using the t-test formula to determine the correlation between the reading comprehension skills and the descriptive text writing skills of the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Bonjol. There are three results in this study. First, the reading skills of grade VII students of SMP Negeri 1 Bonjol are in good qualifications with an average score of 81.65. Second, the writing skills of the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Bonjol are in good qualifications with an average score of 78.58. Third, based on the results of the t-test, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between comprehension reading skills and the descriptive text writing skills of seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Bonjol

    The emergence of literary works is not solely written to provide entertainment to readers, but this is also a means of instilling cultural values ​​in the lives of readers. The presence of cultural values ​​in a literary work aims to provide positive values ​​in people's lives which will become a human guide in behaving. In addition, this cultural value will be a driving factor for a good way of thinking in society. This study aims to analyze cultural values ​​in one of Bernard Batubara's novels because the novel contains many life values, especially cultural values. This research is a type of library research. The data in this study is in the form of a novel entitled "Batu Manikam". The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The results of this study can be concluded that the novel "Batu Manikam" contains cultural values, namely the relationship between man and God, between man and himself, and between man and man, and between man and the environment. In this novel, the cultural values ​​that are more commonly found are cultural values ​​related to human relations with humans, including (1) ridiculing, (2) killing, (3) not having sympathy, (4) lying, (5) betrayal, (6) not holding grudges, (7) conveying the truth, and others.     KONTRIBUSI KEMAMPUAN MEMBACA APRESIATIF TEKS CERPEN TERHADAP KETERAMPILAN MENULIS TEKS CERPEN SISWA KELAS VII SMP NEGERI 5 KAPUR IX

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kontribusi kemampuan membaca apresiatif teks cerpen terhadap keterampilan menulis teks cerpen siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 5 Kapur IX. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 5 Kapur IX dengan sampel 30 orang. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif dan kontribusi desain penelitian. Data penelitian adalah skor keterampilan membaca cerpen apresiatif dan skor tes teks cerpen. Data diperoleh melalui dua jenis tes, yaitu tes objektif yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data untuk memahami pembacaan cerpen dan tes kinerja yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data kemampuan menulis cerpen. Berdasarkan hasil analisis dan diskusi data, peneliti menyimpulkan tiga hal berikut; Pertama, skor rata-rata keterampilan membaca apresiatif dalam membaca teks cerpen siswa di kelas VII SMP Negeri 5 Kapur IX dalam kualifikasi yang baik (82,01). Kedua, skor rata-rata siswa dalam menulis teks cerpen siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 5 Kapur IX berada dalam kualifikasi yang baik (79,17). Ketiga, ada kontribusi yang signifikan antara kemampuan membaca teks cerpen siswa dengan keterampilan menulis cerpen siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 5 Kapur IX sebanyak 84,82%

    PENINGKATAN KETERAMPILAN MENULIS TEKS CERITA INSPIRATIF MELALUI MODEL DISCOVERY LEARNING SISWA KELAS IX SMP NEGERI 1 KOTA SAWAHLUNTO

    Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk: 1) menjelaskan proses peningkatan keterampilan menulis teks cerita inspiratif melalui model Discovery Learning siswa kelas IX.A SMPN 1 Kota Sawahlunto, dan 2) menjelaskan hasil peningkatan keterampilan menulis teks cerita inspiratif melalui model Discovery Learning siswa kelas IX.A SMPN 1 Kota Sawahlunto. Jenis penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK). Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus, Setiap siklus terdiri dari dua kali pertemuan. Pelaksanaannya terbagi atas: perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Tindakan pembelajaran menulis teks cerita inspiratif dilaksanakan melalui model Discovery Learning. Data yang dikumpulkan adalah data kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Data kualitatif dikumpulkan dari pengamatan dan catatan lapangan, sedangkan data kuantitatif diperoleh melalui tes unjuk kerja siswa dalam menulis teks cerita inspiratif. Data tersebut dianalisis secara kualitatif dan kuantitafif berdasarkan prosedur yang telah ditetapkan. Subjek penelitian tindakan kelas ini adalah siswa kelas IX.A SMPN 1 Kota Sawahlunto tahun pelajaran 2019/2020. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran menulis teks cerita inspiratif melalui model Discovery Learning dapat meningkatkan keterampilan siswa dalam menulis teks cerita inspiratif dari siklus I ke siklus II. Siswa yang mencapai ketuntasan belajar pada siklus I berjumlah 27 orang, dan 5 orang belum tuntas. Pada siklus II meningkat menjadi 32 orang, atau siswa tuntas 100%. Nilai rata-rata kelas 79,65 pada siklus I dan pada siklus II meningkat jadi 91,15. Peningkatan nilai rata-rata kelas dari siklus I ke siklus II sebanyak 11,5. Peningkatan ini didukung oleh kehadiran siswa yang selalu lengkap 32 orang, dan penggunaan model Discovery Learning menunjang siswa berpikir secara logis, kritis, dan sistematis dalam menulis teks cerita inspiratif.     Abstract: This research is motivated by the simple, generous and active life on social media Dedi Mulyadi when he was a Member of the DPR RI, so the researchers wanted to analyze the pattern of political communication in the Instagram social media of the DPR RI Member. The purpose of this study was to analyze the pattern of choice of speech code of Dedi Mulyadi in political communication on Instagram social media. Political communication can be done by using the choice of speech code according to its purpose and function. Data is collected by listening, recording, and note-taking methods. In carrying out the listening method, the tapping technique is applied as the basic technique. Then it is continued with advanced techniques in the form of free listening and conversation techniques, recording techniques, and note-taking techniques. Data analysis was carried out using the equivalent method, contextual method, and was carried out using mark-up reading techniques. Based on the results of data analysis, Dedi Mulyadi uses the choice of speech code as a communication need according to the function of his speech. The form of choice of speech code used varies. The pattern of choice of speech code for Dedi Mulyadi as a Member of the DPR RI in political communication on social media Instagram is classified into two parts, namely based on the relationship between participants and the surrounding situation.     This study is entitled "Establishment of Confidence through a Seven Minute Lecture for Students of Baitul Huda Semarang Madrasah (MI)" with issues that focus on: (1) How to Build Self-Confidence through a Seven Minute Lecture for Students of Madrasah Bidayuh (MI) Baitul Huda Semarang, (2) What are the contributions of the Seven Minute Lecture in Building the Confidence of Students MI Baitul Huda Semarang. A qualitative approach is a method used in this study, with primary and secondary data sources, using data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation and documentation and using data analysis in the form of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study suggest the following: forming the self-confidence of MI Baitul Huda Semarang students through a cult whose implementation when after dhikr the Duur prayer is in congregation at the mosque, there are obstacles regarding the lack of enthusiasm of students in listening to their friends who are in charge of delivering a Seven Minute Lecture, and if students forget to prepare the material that will be delivered for the Seven Minute Lecture. The contribution of the Seven Minute Lecture activity in building the confidence of fifth grade students of MI Baitul Huda Semarang is that students are more self-confident, such as not hesitating or being embarrassed or afraid when expressing opinions in class, such as when discussing and answering teacher questions.     Pengaruh Model Picture and Picture terhadap Keterampilan Menulis Teks Eksplanasi Siswa

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model Picture and Picture terhadap keterampilan menulis teks eksplanasi siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Pendalian IV Koto. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif metode eksperimen. Rancangan penelitian ini One Group Pretest and Postest. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII C SMPN 1 Pendalian IV Koto yang berjumlah 22 orang. Hasil penelitian ini, yaitu pertama, keterampilan menulis teks eksplanasi siswa sebelum menggunakan model picture and picture berada pada kualifikasi Cukup (C) dengan rata-rata 56.25. Kedua, keterampilan menulis teks eksplanasi siswa setelah menggunakan model picture and picture berada pada kualifikasi Baik (B) dengan rata-rata 80.3. Ketiga, berdasarkan uji-t, hipotesis alternative (H1) diterima pada taraf signifikan 95% dan dk=(22+22)-2 karena thitung>ttabel (10.21>2.07). Berdasarkan temuan penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan model picture and picture dapat meningkatkan keterampilan menulis teks eksplanasi siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Pendalian Koto
