New closed forms for a dilogarithmic integral, related integrals, and series

In this study, we provide a new closed form for the integral 01Li2(z)ln(1+z)zdz.\int_0^1 \frac{\mathrm{Li}_2(z) \ln(1+z)}{z}\, \mathrm{d}z. We further extend this result by generalizing the integral to the form 01Li2(z)ln(1+az)zdz,\int_0^1 \frac{\mathrm{Li}_2(z) \ln(1+az)}{z}\, \mathrm{d}z, where aC(,1)a \in \mathbb{C} \setminus(-\infty, -1) and Li2(z)\mathrm{Li}_2(z) is the dilogarithm function. This extension is achieved by leveraging our newly established findings in conjunction with V\u{a}lean's results. Furthermore, we provide explicit closed forms for associated integrals, present and prove a novel transformation formula for double infinite series, expressing them as the sum of the square of an infinite series and another infinite series. We leverage this relationship to introduce new families of identities. In addition to these, we provide a new proof of Jonqui\`ere's inversion formula for order 4 and arguments 1z-\frac{1}{z} and zz1\frac{z}{z-1}, thereby broadening the scope of our inquiry. Utilizing one of our newly established identities, we provide a novel closed form for the series k=1Hk(m)+(1)k1Hk(m)km,\sum_{k=1}^\infty \frac{\overline{H}_k^{(m)} + (-1)^{k-1}H_k^{(m)}}{k^m}, for all m>1\Re{m} > 1, in terms of the Riemann zeta function, where Hk(m)=1+12m+13m++1kmH_k^{(m)} = 1 + \frac{1}{2^m} + \frac{1}{3^m} + \cdots + \frac{1}{k^m} represents the kkth generalized harmonic number of order mm, and Hk(m)=112m+13m+(1)k1km\overline{H}_k^{(m)} = 1 - \frac{1}{2^m} + \frac{1}{3^m} - \cdots + \frac{(-1)^{k-1}}{k^m} denotes the kkth generalized skew-harmonic number of order mm. Overall, our research contributes to the theory of infinite series and integrals.Comment: 26 page

Closed form for k=1nkp\sum_{k=1}^n k^p through the Hermite integral representation of the Hurwitz zeta function

Sums of positive integer powers have captivated the attention of mathematicians since ancient times. Over the centuries, mathematicians from diverse backgrounds have provided expressions for the sum of positive integer powers of the first nn positive integers. In this paper, we contribute to this endeavour by deriving Bernoulli's formula for k=1nkp,\sum_{k=1}^n k^p, for all positive integers nn and nonegative integers pp, through the utilization of the Hermite integral representation of the Hurwitz zeta function.Comment: If the approach presented in this paper is encountered in other existing literature, it is kindly requested that the reader contact the author via emai

New closed forms for a class of digamma series and integrals

The pursuit of closed forms for infinite series has long been a focal point of research. In this paper, we contribute to this endeavor by presenting closed forms for the class of digamma series: k=1ψ(2k+2n+54)ψ(2k+2n+34)(2k+α)2,\sum_{k=1}^\infty \frac{\psi\left(\frac{2k+2n+5}{4}\right) - \psi\left(\frac{2k+2n+3}{4}\right)}{(2k + \alpha)^2}, k=1(1)kψ(2k+2n+54)ψ(2k+2n+34)(2k+α)2,\sum_{k=1}^\infty (-1)^k \frac{\psi\left(\frac{2k+2n+5}{4}\right) - \psi\left(\frac{2k+2n+3}{4}\right)}{(2k + \alpha)^2}, for all non-negative integers α\alpha and nn. In addition to providing closed forms for these series, we unveil new identities for various generalized digamma series in the elegant form a0+a1π+a2π2+a3π3a_0 + a_1 \pi + a_2 \pi^2 + a_3 \pi^3, where a0,,a3a_0, \ldots, a_3 are real-valued constants determined by our formulas. Furthermore, we present ten definite integrals over the interval (0,1)(0, 1) that have not been previously studied in the literature and appear to be nearly impossible to evaluate. Combining these series and integrals can lead to the discovery of even more new results. Our findings contribute to the study of closed forms for infinite series and integrals, offering novel results and potential avenues for further exploration.Comment: 33 page

THE BENEFITS OF EMPLOYING MULTI SKILLED TECHNICIANSTO MAINTENANCE PROCESSES

    Get PDF
Many researchers and practitioners applied lean theory to planning, designing and executing construction projects. However, few of their studies have been conducted in maintaining such projects. Maintaining and operating any constructed facility costs more than its initial cost. The aim of this study is to improve maintenance processes by simulating the lean concept of multi-skilled technician to an existing maintenance process. Statistical data and maintenance process map of Saudi Consolidated Electric Company (SCECO) are modeled in Extend+BPR® to be an experimental tool for evaluating the benefits of multi-skilled technicians. The simulation models of this study showed significant improvement in both preventive and corrective maintenance processes

Breast tumor size at first presentation in Haitian breast cancer patients treated in a large U.S. safety net hospital: initial

This study assessed the tumor size at the time of first presentation of Haitian breast cancer patients compared to Non-Haitian Black and White patient populations of a large safety net hospital as an objective measure of diagnosis and treatment delay. Studies have shown that race and ethnicity have an influence in determining the breast cancer stage, treatment, and mortality rates. However, when we looked at the rates of breast cancer, screening among Black subgroups, such as Haitian women, was assessed and remained unclear because national studies do not differentiate Haitians from other Black populations. Two population-based studies that investigated breast cancer screening among Haitian women suggest that screening rates among Haitian women are lower than that of White and Black women. For this reason, many studies are diagnosed at later stages. This study to aimed to improved patient education. In this IRB approved retrospective study used the hospital electronic medical records and the cancer registry of breast cancer patients treated between 2013-2015. Female and male patients with primary breast cancer treated with surgery, complete imaging and medical data sets were included; patients with recurrent breast cancer or incomplete data sets were excluded. Demographics/race/ethnicity, tumor type and stage, receptor status, onco-type, proliferation rate as well as tumor size by radiology and pathology were recorded. vii Statistical analysis using ANOVA, T-test, U-test and Kruskal-Wallis, compared mean and median tumor sizes. In this study only tumor size was analyzed and reported. The results show 57/125 (45.6%) Haitian Black patients, 27/125 (21.6%) Non-Hispanic White, 41/125 (32.8%), Non-Haitian Black were included in the initial analysis of this study. The mean tumor size of Haitian Black (mean=3.09 cm, SD 2.91; median=2.3cm) was significantly larger compared to Black (mean=2.07cm, SD=1.77; median=1.6cm; p=0.022) or White (mean=1.88, SD=1.26; median=1.4; p = 0.008) patients. There was no significant difference in tumor size between Non-Haitian Black and White patients. Haitian Breast Cancer patients present with significantly larger tumors when compared to other patient populations. Improved patient education and intensified out-reach programs are needed to counteract this marked delay in initial diagnosis and treatment. Education and socio-economic differences must be further evaluated and all possible cofactors are needed to determine the most effective interaction to counteract this disparity

Reprocessing of tungsten alloy swarf by oxidation-reduction, pressing and sintering

    Get PDF
Tungsten and the tungsten alloy group materials have a wide range of uses extending from everyday ones, e.g. the coil of an incandescent lamp or the contact tip of an electrical switch or an automobile horn, to components of nuclear fusion reactors or ion drive motors in space probes. The reason for this range of uses lies in the many outstanding properties of tungsten, in particular its high melting point, low vapor pressure, high atomic number, good electrical and thermal conductivity. In the Tungsten–Oxygen system (W–O) there are not only the stoichiometric oxides WO3, WO2.9, WO2.7, WO2, but also non-stoichiometric structures that represent the ordered or partially ordered defect structures of the oxygen-rich oxide in which the central W atom is octahedrally surrounded by six oxygen atoms. In WO3 neighbouring octahedra are in contact only at the corners. With increased oxygen deficiency (reduction, conversion to lower oxides) common edges and surfaces are progressively formed. The aim of this work was to produce a homogeneous powder for recycling from heavy metal swarf. [Continues.
