THE CHANGING OF ROWING TECHNIQUE AS A FUNCTION OF EXERTION

    Get PDF
In our paper we examine the effect of the added exertion on the changing of technique in the rowing motion under laboratory conditions, usin4 an ergometer. The Hungarian National Junior team of four helped us at the examinations, which consisted of an anthropometrical measurement and five steps of exertion on the rowing ergometer, where the spreading of the motions during the exertion period was determined by a computer (SELSPOT system), meanwhile the level of tiredness by the measurement of pulse and the acidity of blood in the intervals between these periods. The comparison of the levels of tiredness shown by the physiological characteristics and of the changings in the motion of rowing can help us not only in the detection of unique errors, but also of some constant technical ones, which are dealt with thoroughly in my lecture

Magnetic fullerenes inside single-wall carbon nanotubes

C59N magnetic fullerenes were formed inside single-wall carbon nanotubes by vacuum annealing functionalized C59N molecules encapsulated inside the tubes. A hindered, anisotropic rotation of C59N was deduced from the temperature dependence of the electron spin resonance spectra near room temperature. Shortening of spin-lattice relaxation time, T_1, of C59N indicates a reversible charge transfer toward the host nanotubes above 350\sim 350 K. Bound C59N-C60 heterodimers are formed at lower temperatures when C60 is co-encapsulated with the functionalized C59N. In the 10-300 K range, T_1 of the heterodimer shows a relaxation dominated by the conduction electrons on the nanotubes

Testing the Elliott-Yafet spin-relaxation mechanism in KC8; a model system of biased graphene

Temperature dependent electron spin resonance (ESR) measurements are reported on stage 1 potassium doped graphite, a model system of biased graphene. The ESR linewidth is nearly isotropic and although the g-factor has a sizeable anisotropy, its majority is shown to arise due to macroscopic magnetization. Albeit the homogeneous ESR linewidth shows an unusual, non-linear temperature dependence, it appears to be proportional to the resistivity which is a quadratic function of the temperature. These observations suggests the validity of the Elliott-Yafet relaxation mechanism in KC8 and allows to place KC8 on the empirical Beuneu-Monod plot among ordinary elemental metals.Comment: 6 pages, 4 figures, submitted to Phys. Evaluation of Muscat types and clones for the local market

Ten European clones and selections of 'Muscat blanc' were investigated about their variability in genetic and enological behavior. The SSR profile of about 120 loci allowed to differentiate most of them. Nevertheless the differences within the variety are rare and do not reflect the heterogeneity of  observed variability. One of the clones (B41/5) represents an earlier ripening type where the overall quality was independent from sugar content. A 27-1 clone was one of the clones with steady high rating concerning wine quality. An interesting alternative for early ripening areas could be the late ripening 'Goldmuskateller' due to the higher stability against Botrytis. One of the samples was not true to type and represented this cultivar

High binding yet accelerated guest rotation within a cucurbit[7]uril complex. Toward paramagnetic gyroscopes and rolling nanomachines †

International audienceThe (15-oxo-3,7,11-triazadispiro[5.1.5.3]hexadec-7-yl)oxidanyl, a bis-spiropiperidinium nitroxide derived from TEMPONE, can be included in cucurbit[7]uril to form a strong (K a ∼ 2 × 10 5 M −1) CB[7]@bPTO complex. EPR and MS spectra, DFT calculations, and unparalleled increased resistance (a factor of ∼10 3) toward ascorbic acid reduction show evidence of deep inclusion of bPTO inside CB[7]. The unusual shape of the CB[7]@bPTO EPR spectrum can be explained by an anisotropic Brownian rotational diffusion, the global tumbling of the complex being slower than rotation of bPTO around its " long molecular axis " inside CB[7]. The CB[7] (stator) with the encapsulated bPTO (rotator) behaves as a supramolecular para-magnetic rotor with increased rotational speed of the rotator that has great potential for advanced nano-scale machines requiring wheels such as cucurbiturils with virtually no friction between the wheel and the axle for optimum wheel rotation (i.e. nanopulleys and nanocars)
