    The study aims to describe the use of Facebook as a supporting media by students of English Language Department at Muhammadiyah University Surakarta. This research is phenomenological research with a qualitative descriptive approach. Data was obtained from interview with two students of the English Language Department of the seventh semester.The interview was in 2019. The research data analysis technique uses hermeneutic phenomenology which aims to produce rich textual descriptions of the experiences of selected phenomena in the life world of individuals who can be connected to our experiences collectively. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that Facebook as a learning medium can improve English language skills in the Muhammadiyah Surakarta English Language Department, because Facebook media has several advantages, that is the learning media and more various and not monotonous so students are not bored in activities. In addition, the use of Facebook as a learning media helps students to develop their writing skills with various examples given by the teacher to the media. Thus it can be said that Facebook as a learning media in supporting students can improve their English skills

    Abstract This study aims to describe the experiential learning English perceived by 3th level cadet at Military Academy Magelang. Especially this research has a qualitative approach that can be used in response the research. The researcher focused in chosen one student which is having many experience at his school. The researcher used an interview that can be used to explore the views, experience, beliefs, and motivations of individual participant. The process to gathering data are asked to the participant some questions which divided into three categories, they are the general condition of the habit in Magelang Military Academy, the strategy by the participant in learning English, and their perception of learning English. The results showing that the most answering from the participant agglomerate into three categories such as; Learning English practice is necessary, participant tend to enjoy the learning process, and participant tend to learning English are important for career.     The study aims (1) to describe the teaching vocabulary process to mentally retarded students by using Flashcards at SLB Negeri Colomadu in 2017/2018 academic year especially (a) the material of teaching vocabulary, (b) the procedure of teaching vocabulary, (c) the technique of teaching vocabulary, (d) the media of teaching vocabulary, (2) to describe the problem faced by teacher in teaching vocabulary. This type of the research is descriptive qualitative research. The subject of this research is the teacher who taught mentally retarded students at SLB Negeri Colomadu. The data sources of this research are from informant (teacher), and event. The data of this research were collected by using observation and interview. And then there were several techniques of data analysis that used in this research and they were data reducing, data presenting/display, drawing conclusion and verification. The findings of this research show that (1) the material are taken from textbook entitled “Bahasa Inggris untuk Anak Tunagrahita” by Government publisher. The teacher also searches another relevant material from internet, magazine and other English book. The procedure of teaching vocabulary is presentation, practice and production. The teacher used pictures and drawing, memorization (Vocabulary Card System) and repetition technique in teaching vocabulary. The media that used by teacher in teaching vocabulary is Flashcard, by using flashcard can help the teacher to make students understand and remember the material easily. (2) the problem faced by teacher in teaching vocabulary is students boredem, limited facilities and learning media, media that used by teacher is flashcard and to use flashcard the teacher need much time and money to prepare the teaching learning process

    This research aims to explore English speaking difficulty faced by Jordanian international students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta. In achieving the objectives of this research, the researcher used qualitative method and hermeneutic phenomenology as an approach to collect and analyze data with semi-structured interview techniques in order to produce descriptive data appropriate from the participants perspective. Then moved in the form of words as a result of this research. The results of this research showed English speaking difficulties faced by Jordanian international students for the reasons such as anxiety, shame, and selfconfidence. The important recommendation from the researcher that Jordanian international students should more practice English. In addition, they also have to interact with international students from different country and local students to overcome this difficulty.     This research discusses how are the students’ perceptions of writing learning class at eighth grade of SMP N 1 Kalijambe on 2017/2018 academic year. The purpose of this research is to know and describe students’ perceptions on English writing learning program in their class. Type of this research is descriptive qualitative. This research subject is story and statement by five students in eighth grade of junior high school. Method of collecting data is interview, while the method of data analysis is through qualitative content analysis. The result of the research on students’ perceptions of English writing learning program are: the data from the interviewees which analyzed raises into three themes which clasify in two framework, such as: 1) students’ perception in learning process which consist of two theme writing learning class being pleasant for student and writing learning class being unpleasant for student, 2) difficulties faced by students in classroom learning.     As a result of the pandemic, COVID-19 is an infectious disease that has a huge impact on human life, including the education system. The pandemic has changed social interactions extensively and education is no exception. To minimize the transmission of infectious diseases, communities are taking steps to limit social distancing and also self-quarantine. The Minister of Education and Culture instructs to carry out online classes and implement school closure policies in breaking the chain of the spread of the COVID-19 outbreak, teachers implement online classes in the teaching and learning process. Students are not allowed to come to school for class actions but must acquire from family. Students mustiness use the net to see and cognate the real and allotments apt by the schoolteacher. To solve this problem, schools must create a new management system to support the school system they must make new regulations regarding the implementation of the school system from home and work from home. Therefore, the school held e-learning using online media and this study aimed to find out the strategies and problems faced by English teachers in e-learning learning during COVID-19. This study collected data from two English teachers at State Middle School 2 Sumberlawang, Sragen. This study also uses qualitative and descriptive research methods, so the teaching strategies that teachers use during the pandemic focus more on WhatsApp groups to communicate during e-learning teaching

    This study use a psychological approach based on Sigmund Freud's Psychoanalytic Theory to analyze the emotions of the second character in Lee Hancock's movie "The Blind Side." The following are the objectives of this research: 1) The Second Character's Emotions in The Blind Side 2) Lee Hancock's Moral Values as depicted in the movie. A qualitative method was applied in this study.This study's data comes from Lee Hancock's 2009 movie The Blind Side. In this study, the researcher found the emotions expressed by this second character are: Love, Anxiety, Anger, Happiness, and Gratitude. The emotions in this work are examined using Sigmund Freud's Analytical Theory, which includes the Id, Ego, and Superego.In addition, the researchers found the moral values conveyed by the director through the characters, namely the value of being and the value of giving. The value of being has a moral meaning in terms of honesty, belief, and potential, as well as the ability to make peace. While the moral value of giving includes respect, love, and affection, as well as being kind and pleasant, as well as fair and humane. The value of giving illustrates the moral importance of giving sincerely to everyone. In addition, the implication of this research is for the audience, especially parents, to love their children sincerely and never give up on reaching their goals

    This research aims to investigate and describe the perceptions and problems faced by the student teachers who teach public speaking in grade 11, Pangasinan State University Integrated School-High School (PSU IS-HS), Philippines through SEA Teacher (Southeast Asean Teacher) program handled by Southeast Asean Minister of Education Organization (SEAMEO). The researcher employs descriptive qualitative method by using phenomenological approach. The technique of collecting data in this research uses semi-structured interview technique. The subjects of this research are four student teachers who teach public speaking in grade 11 of PSU IS-HS, Philippines. The objects of this research are the perceptions and challenges faced by the student teachers based on their experience while teaching in PSU IS-HS. The technique of analysis the data used in this research is hermeneutic phenomenology. The result of this research suggests that: 1) The student teachers’ perceptionin teaching through SEA Teacher project; 2) The student teachers’ challenges which had a limited time and minimum support of IT media in SEA Teacher program in PSU.     During the pandemic, major changes in almost all areas of life in the world, one of which occurred in the field of education. Especially in Indonesia, face-to-face learning systems becomes online learning. In this change, many parties are not ready for this system. One of them is the teaching staff or teachers. Therefore, the researcher wanted to know the difficulties of teachers while teaching using Youtube during the pandemic. This research is a qualitative descriptive study using the phenomenology approach. Data were collected from the results of interviews and analysis of data content analysis interpretation. The subjects of this study were teachers of SMA 2 Tarakan. The results show that the teacher believes that teaching and learning activities online are considered ineffective and it is difficult to control students when learning online. Weak internet networks, non-existent communication tools, and limited quotas are obstacles that are often experienced by teachers

    Abstract The purpose of this research is to describe how are the perceptions of the eighth grade students of SMP N 1 Sambi Boyolali in 2016/2017 academic year on writing descriptive text. The current research uses descriptive qualitative approach. Participants of this research are two students from eighth grade of SMP N 1 Sambi Boyolali. Method of collecting data used is interview approach, while the method of data analysis is through content analysis. The results of this research are as follows: students’ perception of writing descriptive text are 1) Learning descriptive text is mostly reading, writing, translating, doing exercise and completing quiz; 2) learning descriptive text is realtively doable for student; 3) learning descriptive is generally about popular topic; while the difficulties faced by students when writing descriptive text are 1) limited source of vocabulary; 2) lack of access of dictionary; 3) confusion in deciding the correct tenses; 4) unclear explanation from the teacher.
