    Online Programming Judge System (UOJ)

    Get PDF
This research conducts a study to build an Online Programming Judge system with a mechanism to generate test cases automatically using Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm. The system has the function to judge programming code by evaluating the output that the program produced. Based on the problem that it is time consuming for lecturers to manually compile, run and verify every student programs for judging. Moreover, they also need to define test cases for different programming exercises in order to judge student‘s code. The system is built on the purpose to assist lecturers in Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS in judging code submitted from students and generate test cases for every programming exercise automatically. It also helps UTP students practice and enhancing their programming skills. In this research, details of judging process are explored. Moreover, the mechanism of test cases generation using PSO algorithm is deeply analyzed. The study would focus on the primary structure of PSO and the proposed fitness function to calculate fitness value for each generated test case. There are comparisons between manual and automatic PSO test case generation results that would be conducted to evaluate the efficiency of the proposed method. Finally, conclusion of current results and recommendation for future development are also stated

Simulation and experimental study on the Fenotec casting method of the engine block RV95

The new designs or new materials used in foundries for sand casting products in Vietnam now often rely on experience and adopt the try-to-fix method to gradually find the best implementation. This method is very time-consuming, and the product is often unsatisfactory in the first many castings. This study developed a casting simulation model to compare experimental and simulated results using the Fenotec molding technology for the RV95 engine body. The 3D simulation model that was used to simulate the casting process with the same boundary conditions as the experiment also gave similar results. The results show that when making new castings for the first time from experience, there are many casting defects such as cracking, metal deficiency, porosity, etc. In order to improve the casting results, the pouring gate, the arrangement of additional risers and the size of the runner were studied on the simulation to improve the defect results on the casting. After that, the parameters in the simulation model used in the experiment reveal that the molded product meets the required quality and no longer has defects. This molded product, after checking the mechanical and geometric parameters, can be put into mass productio

Coded modulation techniques with bit interleaving and iterative processing for impulsive noise channels

Power line communications (PLC) surfers performance degradation due mainly to impulsive noise interference generated by electrical appliances. This thesis studies coded modulation techniques to improve the spectral efficiency and error performance of PLC. Considered in the first part is the application of bit-interleaved coded modulation with iterative decoding (BICM-ID) in class-A impulsive noise environment. In particular, the optimal soft-output demodulator and its suboptimal version are presented for an additive class-A noise (AWAN) channel so that iterative demodulation and decoding can be performed at the receiver. The effect of signal mapping on the error performance of BICM-ID systems in impulsive noise is then investigated, with both computer simulations and a tight error bound on the asymptotic performance. Extrinsic information transfer (EXIT) chart analysis is performed to illustrate the convergence properties of different mappings. The superior performance of BICMID compared to orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) is also clearly demonstrated.Motivated by the successes of both BICM-ID and OFDM in improving the error performance of communications systems in impulsive noise environment, the second part of this thesis introduces a novel scheme of bit-interleaved coded OFDM with iterative decoding (BI-COFDM-ID) over the class-A impulsive noise channel. Here, an iterative receiver composed of outer and inner iteration loops is first described in detail. Error performance improvements of the proposed iterative receiver with different iteration strategies are presented and discussed. Performance comparisons of BI-COFDM-ID, BICM-ID and iteratively decoded OFDM are made to illustrate the superiority of BI-COFDM-ID. The effect of signal mapping on the error performance of BI-COFDM-ID is also studied

Fractionalisation and dynamics of anyons at ν=n+1/3\nu=n+1/3 in fractional quantum Hall effect and their experimental signatures

We show the low-lying excitations at filling factor ν=n+1/3\nu=n+1/3 with realistic interactions are contained completely within the well-defined Hilbert space of "Gaffnian quasiholes". Each Laughlin quasihole can thus be understood as a bound state of two Gaffnian quasiholes, which in the lowest Landau level (LLL) behaves like "partons" with "asymptotic freedom" mediated by neutral excitations acting as "gluons". Near the experimentally observed nematic FQH phase in higher LLs, quasiholes become weakly bounded and fractionalise with rich dynamical properties. By studying the effective interactions between quasiholes, we predict a finite temperature phase transition of the Laughlin quasiholes even when the Laughlin ground state remains incompressible, and derive relevant experimental conditions for its possible observations.Comment: 4+ pages, 4 figures.
