Synthesis and reactivity of half-sandwich (η 5 -C 5 Me 5 )Ir(iii) complexes of a cyclometallated aryl phosphine ligand

Reaction of the Ir(iii) dimer [(η 5 -C 5 Me 5 )IrCl 2 ] 2 with PMeXyl 2 (Xyl = 2,6-C 6 H 3 Me 2 ), in the presence of the poorly coordinating base 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl piperidine, gives a chloride complex 1-Cl, resulting from hydrogen chloride elimination involving one of the phosphine benzylic hydrogen atoms and concomitant cyclometallation. Related compounds containing other halide or pseudohalide ligands, 1-Br, 1-Cl, 1-SCN, can be made, the latter featuring S-coordination of the ambidentate thiocyanate to the soft Ir(iii) Lewis acid centre, as suggested by IR data and demonstrated by X-ray crystallography. Hydride 2-H, and alkyl derivatives 3 (Me) and 4 (CH 2 SiMe 3 ) can also be prepared from 1-Cl and appropriate hydride and alkylating reagents. An interesting H/D exchange chemistry that occurs in the presence of CD 3 OD has been disclosed for 1-Cl, 1-Br and 2-H. For the halide derivatives, deuterium incorporation takes place into the methylene and methyl sites of their cyclometallated ligand, whereas for 2-H only the hydride and methylene (Ir-CH 2 ) protons participate in the exchange, which is strikingly accelerated by catalytic amounts of acids.Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación CTQ2010-17476Consolider-Ingenio2010 CSD2007-0000Junta de Andalucia FQM-119, P09-FQM-483

La investigación histórica y los archivos en Internet. La presencia del Archivo Histórico Nacional en el Portal de Archivos Españoles (PARES)

On-line open access to the historical archives means today an access to the so-called 'Humanity's Documentary Heritage'. European archives are making significant efforts in order to link their databases and also to facilitate historical research via Web. The European Archives Web Portal (EAPnet) is a project financed by the the European Commission and coordinated by Spain. Its objective is to build an Internet platform which, in close cooperation with the EUROPEANA initiative, will allow to 14 European National Archives to create a common access point to European archival descriptions and digital collections. This is the case of PARES, the Spanish Archives Web Portal which facilitate access to nineteen million digital images and four million archival descriptions of 11 Spanish national archives. The Archivo Histórico Nacional (the Spanish National Archives, Madrid) is part of the project with 4.466 fonds and collections from the ninth to the twentieth centuries. A knowledge of the archivist’s methodology will allow to a better access to the PARES 'Dynamic Inventory'.Hoy en día, tener libre acceso a los archivos a través de Internet, significa acceder a lo que se ha denominado “la memoria documental de la Humanidad”. Los archivos europeos están realizando un gran esfuerzo para interconectar sus bases de datos y facilitar la investigación histórica a través de Internet. El Portal Europeo de Archivos y Documentos (EAPnet) es un proyecto financiado por la Comisión Europea y coordinado por España. Su objetivo es construir un portal en Internet en el que 14 administraciones nacionales de archivos, en cooperación con EUROPEANA crearán un punto de acceso común a las descripciones e imágenes digitales de los archivos europeos, como el caso de PARES. El Portal Español de Archivos (PARES) es la plataforma de trabajo de 11 archivos estatales donde los usuarios tienen acceso a diecinueve millones de imágenes digitales y cuatro millones de descripciones archivísticas. El Archivo Histórico Nacional (AHN), con 4.466 fondos y colecciones (s. IX-XX), forma parte de este proyecto. Design of a test bench for measuring friction force in a piston-cylinder system

In the present work, design of a first approach of a test bench prototype for measuring friction in a piston-cylinder system is presented. The bench consists of a motor, belt and pulley transmission, crank mechanism, a piston, a cylinder and a lubrication system. Friction will be determined by means of strain gages placed on the connecting rod of the mechanism. The bench also includes a phonic wheel for acquiring angular speed and angular position signals of the crank. In future research, friction will be studied for different surface finishes obtained by means of honing and plateau honing. Honing processes provide a crosshatch pattern that holds oil and helps lubrication of piston and rings. Honing conditions will be selected with the goal of minimizing friction. Friction is directly related to energy consumption of an engine and, thus, to its environmental impact. La conquista romana del Occidente Cantábrico: novedades arqueológicas

Presentamos varios yacimientos militares romanos recientemente descubiertos en el área asturleonesa. Sus ubicaciones y características formales son propias de los campamentos romanos temporales – castra aestiva – de cronología altoimperial. Por ello, sería presumible relacionarlos con las Guerras Cántabras. Su georreferenciación ofrece información sobre las operaciones militares de conquista en un escenario inédito para las interpretaciones tradicionales de las fuentes clásicas. [ABSTRACT] This article presents a number of Roman military sites recently discovered in Asturias and León (Northern Iberia). Their specific locations and formal features are related with Roman marching camps – castra aestiva – dating back to the Early Roman Empire period. The paper argues that those sites are most likely related with Cantabrian Wars. Their georeferencing provides us with novel information on military operations that stands apart from traditional interpretations of the classical sources

Inhibition deficit in the spatial tendency of the response in multiple-domain amnestic mild cognitive impairment. An event-related potential study

Longitudinal studies have shown that a high percentage of people with amnestic mild cognitive impairment (MCI) develop Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Prodromal AD is known to involve deficits in executive control processes. In the present study, we examined such deficits by recording EEG in 13 single-domain amnestic MCI (sdaMCI), 12 multiple-domain amnestic MCI (mdaMCI) and 18 healthy elderly (control group, CG) participants while they performed a Simon task. The Simon task demands deployment of executive processes because participants have to respond to non-spatial features of a lateralized stimulus and inhibit the more automatic spatial tendency of the response. We specifically focused on the negativity central contralateral (N2cc), an event-related potential (ERP) component related to brain activity that prevents the cross-talk between direction of spatial attention and manual response preparation. The reaction time (RT) was not significantly different among the three groups of participants. The percentage of errors (PE) was higher in mdaMCI than in CG and sdaMCI participants. In addition, N2cc latency was delayed in mdaMCI (i.e., delayed implementation of mechanisms for controlling the spatial tendency of the response). The N2cc latency clearly distinguished among mdaMCI and CG/sdaMCI participants (area under curve: 0.91).
