Project Echo: Boresight Cameras for Recording Antenna Pointing Accuracy

    Get PDF
Motion picture cameras equipped with telephoto lenses were installed on the transmitting and receiving antennas at Holmdel, New Jersey. When the Echo satellite was visible, a camera obtained a photographic record of the pointing accuracy of the antenna. These data were then used to correlate variations of signal strength with deviations in antenna pointing angle

Impacts of COVID-19 on Industrial Growth in the United States

    Get PDF
COVID-19 has caused massive ramifications on all parts of life in the world and industry growth/decline is not immune to it. This report will analyze nine different industries’ profit and revenue from quarterly data during the years 2009-2022. Forecast models will be generated using various methods and different techniques of validating to predict the values from Q2 2020- Q4 2022 based on historical data. After which, a comparison will be conducted between those predicted values to the actual average revenue and profit generated by order of greatest error percentage made. Thorough research will then be completed to determine if there were any internal or external implications to cause such a shift from historical to try and find the root cause to be COVID-19, if possible

Cryptographic Key Management in Delay Tolerant Networks (DTNs): A survey

    Get PDF
Since their appearance at the dawn of the second millennium, Delay or Disruption Tolerant Networks (DTNs) have gradually evolved, spurring the development of a variety of methods and protocols for making them more secure and resilient. In this context, perhaps, the most challenging problem to deal with is that of cryptographic key management. To the best of our knowledge, the work at hand is the first to survey the relevant literature and classify the various so far proposed key management approaches in such a restricted and harsh environment. Towards this goal, we have grouped the surveyed key management methods into three major categories depending on whether the particular method copes with a) security initialization, b) key establishment, and c) key revocation. We have attempted to provide a concise but fairly complete evaluation of the proposed up-to-date methods in a generalized way with the aim of offering a central reference point for future research

Sensor Data Collection through Unmanned Aircraft Gateways

Current addressing and service discovery schemes in mobile networks are not well-suited to multihop disconnected networks. This paper describes an implementation of a highly mobile ad-hoc network (MANET) that may never experience end-to-end connectivity. Spe-cial gateway nodes are described which are responsible for intelligently routing messages to their intended destination(s). These gateway nodes qualify their links and announce their status to the MANET, a simple approach to service discovery that is effective in this implementation. This implementation has been tested in an outdoor environment. I

Towards the genetic architecture of seed lipid biosynthesis and accumulation in Arabidopsis thaliana

    Get PDF
We report the quantitative genetic analysis of seed oil quality and quantity in six Arabidopsis thaliana recombinant inbred populations, in which the parent accessions were from diverse geographical origins, and were selected on the basis of variation for seed oil content and lipid composition. Although most of the biochemical steps involved in lipid biosynthesis are known and the key genes have been identified, the regulation of the processes that results in the final oil composition and total amount is not understood. By using physically anchored markers it was possible to compare results across populations. A total of 219 quantitative trait loci (QTLs) were identified, of which 81 were significant at P<0.001. Some of these colocalise with QTLs identified previously, but many novel QTLs were also identified. The results highlight the importance of studying traits in multiple populations, which will lead to a better understanding of the contribution that natural variation makes to the genetic architecture of a phenotype
