A Multi-Channel Vital Signal Processing Method for Detection and Validation of Respiration Disorders

    Get PDF
This paper presents a method for the detection and reliable validation of respiration disorder by using multi-channel vital signal processing. The main scope is the automated detection and analysis of a very common respiration disorder, the apnea syndrome. Apnea diagnostics requires long-term multi-channel vital signal recording, called polygraphy. Although various methods already exist for the computer-aided analysis of polygrams, only some of them offer precise apnea typing (i.e. distinguish between central vs. obstructive episodes) and event validation. The system introduced in this paper processes respiration, heart rate, blood pressure, and blood oxygen saturation signals. The episodes of apnea are classified, typed and validated over an 80\% success rate compared to reference annotations made by medical experts. The detected episodes are validated by the rule-based classification of the characteristic changes in the cardiovascular signals caused by episodes of apnea

Ascher Tamás színházi ,Platonov’-rendezése és Nyikita Mihalkov ,Etűdök gépzongorára’ című filmje egyaránt Csehov első, címnélküli, legtöbbször ,Platonov’-ként emlegetett színdarabjára épül. Az előbbi lényegében hű adaptáció, míg az utóbbinak a dráma csupán inspirációként szolgált

Történelem és Csillagászat = History and Astronomy

Új fejezetet nyit a filozófiatörténet számára, különös tekintettel a korai görög természetfilozófiai nézetek vonatkozásában (Thalész). Új alapokra helyezi és megvilágítja a saeculumok kérdését, egységbe foglalja a különböző kronológiai érák kezdő időpontjait az egyiptomi naptári rendszer bevezetésétől (-2773) a Diocletianus éráig (i.sz. 284). | Research on history of astronomy including solar eclipse intervals and eras of chronology. It throws new light upon historical events and it gives new results about advance of astronomy. The estimation of exact scientific character of ancient Egypt has been influenced by unfounded prejudices even today. Consequently, present researches refute these opinions both from the point of view of Egyptology and of that of astronomy. They not only presume but even prove the exsistence of a relatively developped astronomy along the course of Egypt's ancient history. Similarly, one can prove the astronomical origin as well as the astronomical motivation of an important part of religious symbols. Detailed astronomical analyses put into evidence that Egyptian festive annual cicyles possess not only a religious but also a determined astronomical content. The relative correspondences of the Apis-Buchis-Phoenix cycles have been discovered. In he meantime present researches prove the Hellenistic adoption of Egyptian cycles regarding both Greek chronological systems and 110 years interval of Roman saecula. In a same univoque manner, one may demonstrate the features of Ptolemy's astronomical system building upon the results of Egyptian astronomy. Based on all these facts, recent researches may basically change present views on Egyptian astronomy and - through the disproval of the "Greek miracle" - they may show the real way of astronomy according to facts

Free-form curve design by neural networks.

This paper gives a new approach of the two dimensional scattered data manipulation. The standard approximation and interpolation methods which can only be used for non-scattered data will also be applicable for scattered input with the help of the neural network. The Kohonen network produces an ordering of the scattered input points and here the B-spline curve is used for the approximation and interpolation

    Historical basins sediments

Modifications of small water reservoirs in the past focused primarily on addressing issues of capacity and stability of the reservoir capture. By the impact of changes in the use of reservoir surroundings, by acceleration of the erosion processes on the adjecent land and non-periodical maintenance of the capture leads to morphological changes in the reservoir, which causes changes in the in the reduced flowage of the basin and thus in changes of the flood protection degree of adjacent land. This reduces the accumulation part of the basin and subsequently its economic use in fish rearing Bottom sediments of dams are products of erosion of agricultural and forest soils, the main flow of the river basin and tributaries connected to the dam or a system of dams. They have the basic properties of surface layers of soil erosion

Histogram based segmentation of shadowed leaf images

    Get PDF
This paper corresponds to the solution of some problems realized during ragweed identification experiments, namely the samples collected on the field by botanical experts did not match the initial conditions expected. Reflections and shadows appeared on the image, which made the segmentation more difficult, therefore also the classification was not efficient in previous study. In this work, unlike those solutions, which try to remove the shadow by restoring the illumination of image parts, the focus is on separating leaf and background points based on chromatic information, basically by examining the histograms of the full image and the border. This proposed solution filters these noises in the subspaces of hue, saturation and value space and their combination. It also describes a qualitative technique to select the appropriate values from the filtered outputs. With this method, the results of segmentation improved a lot

Identification of Shadowed Areas to Improve Ragweed Leaf Segmentation

    Get PDF
As part of a project targeting geometrical structure analysis and identification of ragweed leaves, sample images were created. Even though images were taken under near optimal conditions, the samples still contain noise of cast shadow. The proposed method improves chromaticity based primary shape segmentation efficiency by identification and re-classification of the shadowed areas. The primary classification of each point is done generally based on thresholding the Hue channel of Hue/Saturation/Value color space. In this work, the primary classification is enhanced by thresholding an intra-class normalized weight computed from the class specific Value channel. The corrective step is the removal of areas marked as shadow from the object class. The idea is based on the assumption that the image contains a single, flat leaf in front of a homogeneous background, but there are no color and illumination restrictions. Thus, parameters of the imaging system and the light sources have influence on homogeneity of image parts; however vague shadows differ only in intensity, and hard shadows can only be dropped on the background
