This study is aimed to know students’ spatial ability who work under 3-dimension learning use Cabri 3D software at Junior High School in Bandung. The using of Cabri 3D software as manipulative tool in 3-dimension geometry learning can reduce misperception about 3-dimension materials. This study is quasi-experiment and the instruments cosist of spatial ability test and students’ worksheet. This study is conducted for 8th grade students at Junior High School in Bandung. Based on study result, it is found that students’ spatial ability enhancement under the learning, where Cabri 3D software is used, than those who were taught by conventional learning. From five elements of spatial ability based on Meir (1976), only 2 elements of spatial ability which do has no improve merit significantly, namely, perception ability component and visualization ability, while rotation ability, relation ability and orientation ability have improved significantly. Key Words: Cabri 3D Software, Virtual Manipulation Tool, Geometry 3 Dimension, Spatial Abilit

This study aims to determine the teachers’ ability in developing STEM-based science learning plan. This study departs from the science teachers’ problem that are required to prepare a science learning plan using STEM approach. It is the linking approach between Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics which is categorized as new approach for teachers. This study involved 29 science teachers in Ciamis regency who joined STEM-based science learning workshop held by Biology Education department of Galuh University. The study employed documentation studies which was carried out by analysing the STEM-based science learning plan prepared by workshop participants. The findings showed that the teachers’ ability in developing STEM-based science learning plans was moderate. Keywords: Science Learning Plan, STEM Approac

Mineral-rich countries and dutch disease : understanding the macroeconomic implications of windfalls and the development prospects-the case of Equatorial Guinea

    Get PDF
Referring to the original context of Dutch Disease, the term refers to the fears of de-industrialization that gripped the Netherlands as a result of the appreciation of the Dutch currency that followed the discovery of natural gas deposits. Expansion of petroleum exports in the 1960s not only crowded out other exports, it actually reduced other exports disproportionately and fueled the fears of dire consequences for Dutch manufacturing. In the case of Equatorial Guinea, the secondary sector represents about 2 percent of the gross domestic product, manufacturing represents less than 1 percent, and oil represents more than 95 percent. The negative impact of the Dutch Disease in this context would be limited given the structure of the economy and on the contrary may even be a good thing because it fuels the structural transformational process of the economy, which is needed in Equatorial Guinea. This paper argues that the ongoing Dutch Disease is a natural and necessary reallocation of resources in the economy of Equatorial Guinea. The magnitude of negative macroeconomic consequences of the Dutch Disease depends on the country's economic structure and stage of development. In a country where the manufacturing sector barely exists or where the non-oil primary sector is structurally deficient, as has been the case of Equatorial Guinea, there is little to fear about the disease. The oil boom is a blessing, given that oil revenues when properly managed can play a special and critical role in overall economic development and poverty reduction in low-income countries. To promote good governance in the management of the country's oil wealth, the government may wish to adhere to clear standards of accountability and transparency; especially by complying with the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI++).Debt Markets,Economic Theory&Research,,Banks&Banking Reform,Currencies and Exchange Rates

Windfall management for poverty reduction : improving public finance Management-the case of Chad

This paper aims at providing a guide to ensure efficiency in the management of Chad's windfall to support the development process and poverty reduction. The analysis is based on the lessons and experience of countries that have successfully used natural-resource-generated windfalls to launch their development process while avoiding the natural resource curse. The paper also discusses the petroleum management arrangements in place in Chad for poverty reduction. The author argues that the successful management of Chad's windfall for poverty reduction will depend on the effectiveness of oil revenue management arrangements in place in Chad and the government's willingness to improve public finance management (PFM).Public Sector Expenditure Analysis&Management,Debt Markets,,Public Sector Economics&Finance,Banks&Banking Reform

Transforming natural resource wealth into sustained growth and poverty reduction : a conceptual framework for Sub-Saharan African oil exporting countries

    Get PDF
Oil and mineral revenues raise national savings and hence facilitate investment, capital accumulation, and sustained growth; thus, there are benefits of owning large natural resources. There can be a significant spillover effect from the oil sector to the non-oil sector particularly if governments are committed to bridge the infrastructure gap and promote the non-oil economy and foremost the non-oil tradable sector. Consequently, the capacity for coordinated policy formulation and execution is fundamental as well as sound windfall management mechanisms and institutions. This conceptual framework uses the case of Indonesia and the example of Norway to argue that the resource paradox is avoidable. Abundance should not be a curse, but rather a blessing for Sub-Saharan Africa's oil and mineral exporting countries. The country context and political economy matter a great deal but should not be the main driving forces behind windfall management, to avoid excessive rent-seeking activities, inefficiency, and wasteful spending. The EITI++ implementation can contribute to make a difference, mostly through capacity building, implementation assistance, and coordination support.Economic Theory&Research,Debt Markets,Currencies and Exchange Rates,,Access to Finance

Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) is an integrated application software for widespread use in the organization. The aim of this study is to determine factors that affect the successful implementation of ERP in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Central Java in order to build competitive ad-vantage and increase marketing performance. To test the 9 hypothesis, this study utilized data from 107 SMEs in Central Java. The results revealed that variable hardware and software selection have the greatest influence toward the successful implementation in Small and Medium Enterprises. It is suggested that SMEs should gain knowledge and solidify its business process reengineering before implementing ERP. Research paper Reference to this paper should be made as follows: Raharjo, S. Constructive version of Boolean algebra

The notion of overlap algebra introduced by G. Sambin provides a constructive version of complete Boolean algebra. Here we first show some properties concerning overlap algebras: we prove that the notion of overlap morphism corresponds classically to that of map preserving arbitrary joins; we provide a description of atomic set-based overlap algebras in the language of formal topology, thus giving a predicative characterization of discrete locales; we show that the power-collection of a set is the free overlap algebra join-generated from the set. Then, we generalize the concept of overlap algebra and overlap morphism in various ways to provide constructive versions of the category of Boolean algebras with maps preserving arbitrary existing joins.Comment: 22 page

The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of product quality, price perception, promotion, and customer’s satisfication towards repurchasing in CV. Mebel Mitras Jepara. The writer uses Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) method in the analysis. In this study, there are two analyze techniques which are Confirmatory Factor Analysis and Regression Weight. The numbers of sample used in this study is 100 respondents. Based on the hypothesis summary, this study shows that product quality, price perception, promotion, and customer’s satisfication positively and significantly affect customer’s decision in repurchasing goods

The kinetics of folding of the NSH2 domain from p85

    Get PDF
SH2 domains are protein domains that mediate protein-protein interaction through the recognition and binding of specific sequences containing phosphorylated tyrosines. The p85 protein is the regulatory subunit of the heterodimeric enzyme PI3K, an important enzyme involved in several molecular pathways. In this work we characterize the folding kinetics of the NSH2 domain of p85. Our data clearly reveal peculiar folding kinetics, characterized by an apparent mismatch between the observed folding and unfolding kinetics. Taking advantage of double mixing stopped flow experiments and site directed mutagenesis we demonstrate that such behavior is due to the cis/trans isomerization of the peptide bond between D73 and P74, being in a cis conformation in the native protein. Our data are discussed in comparison with previous works on the folding of other SH2 domains
