The theme of this thesis revolves around how bacteria respond and thrive during stress. Chapters 1-3 are about how bacteria deal with life-threatening antibiotics. Chapter 4 covers new research on how bacteria can move from a stressful individual lifestyle (free-living bacteria) to initiating a symbiotic relationship with a plant (a less stressful lifestyle). In Chapter 1, I briefly summarize the current state of knowledge in the field of antibiotic resistance and persistence. In Chapter 2, I add to this knowledge by providing new insights into several antibiotics\u27 potency and exploring the antibiotic Eagle effect. In Chapter 3, I use pyruvate to study the revival of persister cells. Finally, in Chapter 4, I switch gears and briefly discuss how I optimized the initial steps of soybean germination and rhizobia culturing techniques to monitor the root-bacterial attachment

This internship report is submitted in a partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Bachelor of Business Administration, 2016.Cataloged from PDF version of Internship report.Includes bibliographical references (page 33).This report contains an e-business job qualification analysis on Upoharbd. It is an online gift shop. Anyone can visit this site and buy and send gifts to their near and dear ones. I analyzed the job recruitment of Upoharbd that means the recruitment process of that company. In this term paper I have discussed about what we need to learn in our bachelor degree level. Also, I have classified and justify the information of the learning what I have found while I was researching and working on this matter. UpoharBD is an idol for other online gift shop. I have studied the website of UpoharBD and came up with idea that why Upoharbd is gaining more and more popularity. At the very stage, I described about the company, their website and there way of doing day to day work. Then I did situational analysis of the company according to SWOT and porter’s theory. Then I discussed about company’s operational model and significant task of every level. After that I concentrate on why we need to learn things at our bachelor degree level and how it will help to get a better job or to start your own business.Tanim AhmedB. Business Administratio

A study of the seismic effects on a portal frame having a hole at the beam-column connection

This paper presents the results of the study on thin walled steel portal frames, which are used in Japan as basic structural frames for motorway viaducts. A serious problem found in many such frames is the development of fatigue cracks at the beam to column connection. To act as a measure against the fatigue failure, in some cases a hole is provided at the beam-column connection of the frames. In this study, dynamic analysis using real earthquake data from 3 different earthquakes were carried out to examine the influence of such a hole on the global behavior of the frame and also on the local out of plane displacement around the location of the hole. Non-linear, large displacement analysis was performed using the FEM program MSC. Marc. The hole radius was varied and used as a parameter of study. The hole had significant effect on local out of plane displacement and global behavior, specifically when the radius of the hole was larger than 100 mm.ArticleTHIN-WALLED STRUCTURES. 52:53-60 (2012)journal articl

Tourists’ Attitude Toward Beach Management Systems in Bangladesh and Reorienting the Strategies for Sustainable Development

    Get PDF
The tourism sector in Bangladesh is one of the key potential sectors which can be a key contributing sector of the economy of Bangladesh. But, flourishment of this sector mainly depends on the tourist revisit intention. The revisit intension is determined by the tourists’ psychology and prevailing experience of the tourist. The main purpose of this study is to determine the tourist psychology on the beach management systems and develop some strategies to increase tourist satisfaction and ensure sustainable development of this sector. This study mainly applied mixed-method (quantitative as well as qualitative) in particular, survey study method as a quantitative technique and FGD as a qualitative method have been used in collecting necessary data. Collected data were analyzed by using SPSS and qualitative data analysis techniques to measure the research objectives. The study found the beach management systems in Bangladesh is at a reasonable level by considering different variables. The study concludes that tourist’s attitude on food and accommodation facilities, security issues, hygiene and sanitation, emergency and health care services, tourist guide and information, transport facilities, and shopping facilities are not at a satisfactory level while all these factors other than shopping facilities significantly affect the satisfaction level of the domestic and international tourist. SoC estimation for lithium-ion batteries : review and future challenges

    Get PDF
ABSTRACT: Energy storage emerged as a top concern for the modern cities, and the choice of the lithium-ion chemistry battery technology as an effective solution for storage applications proved to be a highly efficient option. State of charge (SoC) represents the available battery capacity and is one of the most important states that need to be monitored to optimize the performance and extend the lifetime of batteries. This review summarizes the methods for SoC estimation for lithium-ion batteries (LiBs). The SoC estimation methods are presented focusing on the description of the techniques and the elaboration of their weaknesses for the use in on-line battery management systems (BMS) applications. SoC estimation is a challenging task hindered by considerable changes in battery characteristics over its lifetime due to aging and to the distinct nonlinear behavior. This has led scholars to propose different methods that clearly raised the challenge of establishing a relationship between the accuracy and robustness of the methods, and their low complexity to be implemented. This paper publishes an exhaustive review of the works presented during the last five years, where the tendency of the estimation techniques has been oriented toward a mixture of probabilistic techniques and some artificial intelligence

Interfacing Relationship among Work Stress, Service Quality and Customer Satisfaction: Evidence from Banking Industry of Bangladesh

The performance of the employees serving at different levels of an organization gets directly affected by work stress which is also associated with employee motivation and customer satisfaction. Many scholars have argued on the previous comment. The present study's primary purpose is to determine the interfacing relationship among work stress, quality of services, and customer satisfaction of Bangladesh's banking industries. The study mainly followed a quantitative research method based on survey technique. The study has been completed in two sections. The first one was designed for bank employees to measure job stress and job satisfaction. The second one was for customers to investigate their satisfaction level on selected banks. Using the SERVQUAL model responses on service quality and customer satisfaction were collected. A total of 200 employees of the sampled banks were selected conveniently from 40 branches. Subsequently, 110 customers of the sampled Bank were selected randomly from bank premises. Besides, a total of 130 customers were selected purposively based on the contact number collected from the Bank, and the link of the google survey was sent to the selected customers but only 90 responses were collected out of the 130 respondents. Collected data were analyzed by using SPSS and Spreadsheet. Job stress and employee satisfaction were measured with the Kahn et al. (1964) instrument by descriptive statistics. The SERVQUAL model of Parasuraman et al. (1988) was applied to measure the quality of service and satisfaction level of customers. The present study found that bank employees are not satisfied with four dimensions: Governance, working environment, structure and facilities, benefits, etc. Subsequently, the SERVQUAL model analysis found that customers are not satisfied at all on all dimensions. The study concludes with having a positive relationship between the stress level of employees, quality of service, and satisfaction level of the customer within Bangladesh's banking industry.
