No follow-up, 20% das pacientes demonstraram estar recuperadas. The main objectives of the present study were: assess the recovery rate, and its predictors, in women who received an eating disorder diagnostic, according to criteria in the 4th edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV). The study is longitudinal prospective with a 9 year average follow-up. The sample is composed by 45 women admitted for treatment in a specialized service between 2001 and 2006. At admission moment was used various instruments: clinical variables evaluation and self-report questionnaires. At follow-up moment, the participants were categorized in 2 groups: recovered and non-recovered. This categorization was executed according to a questionnaire that sought to assess clinical, behavior, and psychological dimensions. At follow-up moment, 20% of patients seemed to be recovered. Several variables were associated with the recovery of participants, obtained 4 significant correlations. With an execution of a logistic regression analysis, which explain 27.5% of the variance, only the EDI subscale Perfectionism remains significant for recovery of the patients

What are the conditions for meaningful reconciliation in post-conflict societies? This was the departure research question for this research project focusing on the former Yugoslavia, in particular on the territories of the three largest former republics: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia, and Kosovo, due to the latter‚Äôs respective specificities. Starting out from a general hypothesis: the fulfilment of a set of political, social and economic conditions fosters and enables tolerant and peaceful coexistence among the peoples of the former Yugoslavia, this then shaped and thus defined the main research objectives: understanding the way in which the post-war educational systems have or have not contributed to reconciliation between the various nations and peoples of the region; the prospects of European integration as an engine for pacification; the role of hate speech formulated in the media and culture and as well as the means of overcoming it. Through research that interweaves with the professional activity of the author ‚Äď a journalist with extensive experience in coverage of the region ‚Äď and deploying a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods (a survey answered by over 270 students from the countries under study), this dissertation strives to provide new clues for approaching nationalist phenomena and perspectives (taking into account the responses of students to the survey this thesis put forward) on reconstructing post-conflict societies and furthermore identifying a set of conditions that must first be verified before ever achieving what this dissertation defines as reconcivicnation, a civic reconciliation of nations.

The interplay between monetary and fiscal policies in the EU

We study the interactions between monetary and fiscal policies in the EU countries, for the period 1995-2019. Our results show notably that: i) the inflation rate has a relevant impact over the central banks’ decision making; ii) the cyclically adjusted primary balance reacts positively to increases in the level of government debt; iii) monetary policy reaction functions do not seem to take into consideration the cyclically adjusted primary balance; iv) fiscal policy, via the cyclically adjusted primary balance, seem to be affected by the short-term interest rate in a negative way. The global economic and financial crisis impacted negatively both the short-term nominal interest rates and the cyclically adjusted primary balance, however with a higher degree in the euro area.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Thesis (M. Tech.) -- Central University of Technology, Free State, 2006In today’s dynamic and uncertain business environment, employees are required to work together to achieve a common goal. An organisation cannot survive without a highly motivated and progressive workforce. Management need to be highly innovative and adaptive, to survive the intensity of competition and change. This study is based on the conviction that enhancing and sustaining employee motivation is a manager’s major function. In effect, management need to create and maintain a culture that fosters motivation, and determine whether employees are culturally adaptable, when two established cultures merge as one. Against this background, the focus fell on attaining optimum performance and a culture that evokes a spirit of co-operation and is conducive to motivating employees to work willingly and effectively. The Amalgamated Beverage Industry was selected for the purpose of this study. The perceptions and opinions of management and that of the lower level employees were examined to determine the impact on the work motivational levels and organiastional culture within Country Region employees. A probable influence was also given on the possible factors contributing to the maintained level of organisational culture and the high motivational levels within ABI. Attention was also focused on culture change and its possible impact on employees
