Pembiakan Dan Perkembangan Polypedates Leucomystax (Anura: Rhacophoridae) Dan Kaloula Pulchra (Anura : Microhylidae) Serta Kesan "Tea Seed Cake'" Dan Karbofuran Ke Atas Larvanya

Pembiakan Po. leucomystax dan K. pulchra secara semulajadi telah dikaji selama 1 2 bulan bermula Julai 1995 sehingga Jun 1996 di Kampung Boyan, Taiping, Perak:. Hasil kajian mendapati pembiakan Po. leucomystax dan K. pu/chra berkorelasi dengan jumlah hujan yang turun. Po. leucomystax menghasilkan telur (1.8 ± 0.02 mm) yang besar dan di dalam kuantiti (239 ± 19 biji) yang sedikit berbanding dengan K. pulchra yang menghasilkan telur (1.5 ± 0.03 mm) yang kecil dan di dalam kuantiti (5713 ± 275 biji) yang besar Peratus telur yang menetas bagi kedua-dua spesies adalah melebihi 90%. Sementara itu peratus larva Po. leucomystax yang beIjaya menjadi anak katak (19. 22.7 %) adalah lebih tinggi berbanding K pulchra (0.9 Embrio dan larva Po. leucomystax rnengarnbil rnasa yang lebih panjang untuk menetas (41.9 ± 0.0K. pu/chra (20.5 berbentuk sigmoid dengan kadar pertumbuhan yang maksimum pada peringkat 40 hingga 42. Penurunan berat basah dan panjang keseluruhan adalah disebabkan oleh ekor larva yang semakin menghilang sernasa metamorfosis. Ujian akut secara pendedahan statik selama 24 jam telah dilakukan dengan menggunakan serbuk "tea seed cake" (TSC) dan karbofuran ke atas larva Po. leucomystax, K pulchra dan Ra. erythrea. Nilai LC₅₀ menunjukkan larva Ra. erythrea merupakan larva yang paling sensitif dan mernpunyai daya ketahanan yang paling rendah terhadap larutan TSC dan karbofuran. lni diikuti oleh larva K. pulchra dan Po. leucomystax

Information Behavior of the Malaysian Managers and Their Perceived Needs of Information and Knowledge Managers

This study explored the information behaviour of business executives particularly those in the managerial positions in the services and banking industries in Malaysia. Among the components of information behaviour investigated involved their information use – types, sources, and criteria. The investigation was also extended to understand about effective information management and the need for information and knowledge managers from the managers’ collective perspectives. Using survey questionnaires with open and close-ended questions on one hundred and forty five respondents, the findings provided rich and meaningful information about information requirements of managers and their perceived needs for competent information and knowledge managers in terms of their desired roles and competencies. The findings may assist in the effective provision of services by information or knowledge managers within the organizations and the development of more effective information system for resource sharing and inter/intra organizational collaboration or in other word a knowledge management system (KMS)

Mobile phone adoption and appropriation among the Malaysian teenagers: the influence of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation

Given the significant impact the wireless technologies provided to date, not many research can be found conducted in understanding the pattern of wireless use and adoption among various cohorts of the Malaysian population particularly those of teenagers. This research conducted in order to find out about the pattern of wireless technologies? adoption and use among the Malaysian teenagers. Subsequently, this study expects to establish an understanding of the usage pattern based on the intrinsic and extrinsic motivations theory and the adoption?appropriation of technology perspective. This study should provide a very important contribution to the understanding of teenagers and their mobile phone use behavior. At the same time, this study can also assist in policy development of wireless phone application among high school students and allows for respective authority to re-think of how to exploit the technology to benefit the teenagers for the purpose of learning and motivation. In addition, the findings may also contribute to the modeling of mobile phone use as a strategy to match mobile phone design to user?s technological needs and expectations

Urban sprawl and its financial cost: - A conceptual framework

Urban sprawl has been recognized as an urban expansion which leads to undesirable impacts in terms of sacrifice of farmland and loss of amenity benefits from open space on the urban fringe.Integral to the negative impacts of sprawl is the higher financial costs that have to be incurred mainly through expenses related to the physical development in an unplanned manner.A framework of understanding sprawl and its financial cost in a developing country’s context namely Malaysia is proposed based on four (4) strategic steps namely, sprawl identification, measurement, decision and financial analysis utilizing the differential costs approach by comparing financial costs of development under unplanned sprawl and a planned strategy. The framework would provide a structured insight into quantifying the financial costs of sprawl to guide economists and urban planners in making a decision pertaining to urban development
