This communication aims to answer to the following research question: “How can Early Warning Systems support the production activity and make it resilient?” Based on an ethnographic case study, we display that even a simple tool can be helpful for a CEO. We assess that the resilience comes from a well-balanced combination of a qualitative human management and of an analytical system. This equilibrium depends on the fit between the task, the system and the user.Early Warning Systems, Task-Technology-Fit Model, Resilience as performance

Bridging the Gap: Towards a Cosmopolitan Orientation in the Social Studies Curriculum in Saskatchewan High Schools

Vital to Canadian social and cultural cohesion in a globalized world is an urgent need to enact new social and educational discourses and initiatives essential to expand an understanding of our interconnected relationships that coalesce with the key tenets of cosmopolitanism. Cosmopolitanism is a theory that endorses a sense of global responsibility and connectedness, respect for human rights and difference inside and outside our borders, and detachment from our communal, national, religious, ethnic, as well as other forms of particularities. The purpose of this qualitative case study is to investigate to what extent the social studies curriculum in grades 9, 10, 11, and 12 in Saskatchewan integrates or reflects cosmopolitan perspectives in an increasingly interconnected world. Thus, data collection consists of content analysis of the Saskatchewan curriculum and five interviews with social studies teachers in Saskatchewan high schools. Data analysis is guided by the literature review on cosmopolitanism that operates as the theoretical framework of this study and by critical discourse analysis. This research contributes to our understanding of what cosmopolitan education can offer in terms of possibilities to the social, cultural, educational, and political configurations of Canadian society. Emphasis is also on the need for future implementation of courses focusing on cosmopolitanism in higher education to raise awareness among students, prospective teachers, policy makers, curriculum designers, educational administrators, and government agencies about cosmopolitanism as an active agency to alleviate social ills. In conclusion, I offer suggestions for strengthening the social studies curriculum in Saskatchewan high schools to promote cosmopolitan values. Thus, the significance of the study lies in its theoretical and practical implications for social and educational policies in Canada and internationally

The judicial cooperation developed between several organs of the Argentine provinces and regions of Chile, under the Treaty of Maipú on Integration and Cooperation (2009) and the Committees of bi-national integration, has experienced substantial progress in recent years, which are reflected in different activities described in this article, which have been coordinated and led by the Foreign Ministries of the two countries. Meanwhile, the bilateral judicial cooperation is intertwined with the concept of sub-national integration by allowing both a broad meeting of senior officials and professionals interested in advancing in these areas, as to make possible the narrowing of the existing links on both sides of the Andes. As a result of discussions in Mendoza in the “Cristo Redentor” Committee on 1 and 2 September 2011, and the organization of the First International Seminar on Judicial Cooperation Chile-Argentina on 29 and 30 March 2012 were able to implement new Commissions on Judicial cooperation in other Integration Committees and organize new seminars on such issue, in order to advance the field of judicial cooperation and integration. This article aims to report on the main achievements and developments in this area.

    Get PDF
The lithic structures outstand among the wide variability of the archaeological record. This category includes enclosures, standing stones and pircados. They are approached by space studies from the perspective of Landscape Archaeology, understanding that the relationship with the surrounding environment can provide key variables for their understanding. This paper aims to study, by the implementation of GIS tools, a small area located in the southern sector, in the Sauce Grande River basin in order to calibrate the visual fields of thesites of standing stones alignments. At the same time, it aims to evaluate a possible relationship between these sites with stone structures and other kinds of archaeological record with symbolic importance, from the point of view of the visibility fields. The different characteristics of the spatial location of the sites are analyzed and shared visual fields between different evidence of the landscape and the archaeological record are proposed.
