High temperature silicon carbide impregnated insulating fabrics

    Get PDF
High temperature insulating articles having improved performance characteristics are described. The articles comprise fabrics of closely woven refractory or heat resistant fibers having particles of silicon carbide dispersed at least partially through the fabric and bonded to the fibers with an emulsifiable polyethylene wax. Such articles exhibit significantly increased high temperature emittance characteristics and an improved retention of integrity and flexibility after prolonged exposure to high temperature

    Densification of porous refractory substrates

A hydrolyzed tetraethyl orthosilicate is applied to the surface of a porous refractory substrate following which the substrate is heated to a temperature and for a period of time sufficient to bond the silica released from the tetraethyl orthosilicate to the substrate. The surface is thus densified and strengthened

2013 was a record year for the Foundation. Donors generously infused 132millionintothecommunity,andinvestedinfuturegivingbyadding132 million into the community, and invested in future giving by adding 297 million to OCF accounts; a 45% increase over our previous best year! The impact that our family of donors was able to make on the community is an absolutely astounding example of collective giving. Omaha Gives! brought the greater community together around giving for the first time in 2013. The metro area's own chartiable holiday, which took place on May 22, resulted in 11,000 individuals raising over $3 million to support 308 nonprofit organizations serving Douglas, Sarpy and Pottawattamie counties. The day ignited the individuals and spurred even more giving in 2014, as statistics from the 24-hour online giving event doubled in almost every category

The Role of International Criminal Tribunals in Promoting Respect for Fair Trial Rights

    Get PDF
This article analyzes how the two United Nations Tribunals, the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY) and the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR), have defined the notion of a fair trial by adopting the provisions of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR). The article argues that fundamental due process has experienced a revival in the Criminal Tribunals due to gaps in the Rules being filled in response to the ICCPR. The article examines particularly Articles 9 and 14 of the ICCPR
