    Sentiment Analysis Using Collaborated Opinion Mining

    Opinion mining and Sentiment analysis have emerged as a field of study since the widespread of World Wide Web and internet. Opinion refers to extraction of those lines or phrase in the raw and huge data which express an opinion. Sentiment analysis on the other hand identifies the polarity of the opinion being extracted. In this paper we propose the sentiment analysis in collaboration with opinion extraction, summarization, and tracking the records of the students. The paper modifies the existing algorithm in order to obtain the collaborated opinion about the students. The resultant opinion is represented as very high, high, moderate, low and very low. The paper is based on a case study where teachers give their remarks about the students and by applying the proposed sentiment analysis algorithm the opinion is extracted and represented.Comment: 5 pages, 6 figure

    This review of Qualitative Studies of Exploration in childhood Education: Cultures of Play and Learning in Transition outlines the manner in which chapters in the book use qualitative data to inform understandings of how culture affects children’s development. With little research on how play and culture affect the wellbeing of children, this book fills the void. It uses data qualitatively and answers the how and why about play and transitions. The review also looks at how the book informs my work as a developmental psychologist, and some of the book’s limitations or omissions

    Soft Scalable Self-Reconfigurable Modular Cellbot

    Hazardous environments such as disaster affected areas, outer space, and radiation affected areas are dangerous for humans. Autonomous systems which can navigate through these environments would reduce risk of life. The terrains in these applications are diverse and unknown, hence there is a requirement for a robot which can self-adapt its morphology and use suitable control to optimally move in the desired manner. Although there exist monolithic robots for some of these applications, such as the Curiosity rover for Mars exploration, a modular robot containing multiple simple units could increase the fault tolerance. A modular design also enables scaling up or down of the robot based on the current task, for example, scaling up by connecting multiple units to cover a wider area or scaling down to pass through a tight space.Taking bio-inspiration from cells, where – based on environmental conditions – cells come together to form different structures to carry out different tasks, a soft modular robot called Cellbot was developed which was composed of multiple units called ‘cells’. Tests were conducted to understand the cellbot movement over different frictional surfaces for different actuation functions, the number of cells connected in a line (1D), and the shapes formed by connecting cells in 2D. A simulation model was developed to test a large range of frictional values and actuation functions for different friction coefficients. Based on the obtained results, cells could be designed using a material with frictional properties lying in the optimal locomotion range. In other cases, where the application has diverse terrains, the number of connected units can be changed to optimise the robot locomotion. Initial tests were conducted using a ‘ball robot’, where the cellbot was designed using balls which touch ground to exploit friction and actuators to provide force to move the robot. The model was extended to develop, a ‘bellow robot’ which was fabricated using hyper-elastic bellows and employed pneumatic actuation. The amount of inflation of a cell and its neighbouring cells determined if the cell would touch the ground or be lifted up. This was used to change cell behaviour where a cell could be touching ground to provide anchoring friction, or lifted to push or pull the cells and thereby move the robot. The cells were connected by magnets which could be disconnected and reconnected by morphing the robot body. The cellbot can thus reconfigure by changing the number of connected units or its shape. The easy detachment can be used to remove and replace damaged cells. Complex cellbot movements can be achieved by either switching between different robot morphologies or by changing actuation control.Future cellbots will be controlled remotely to change their morphology, control, and number of connected cells, making them suitable for missions which require fault tolerance and autonomous shape adaptation. The proposed cellbot platform has the potential to reduce the energy, time and costs in comparison to traditional robots and has potential for applications such as exploration missions for outer space, search and rescue missions for disaster affected areas, internal medical procedures, and nuclear decommissioning.<br/

    Leveraging digital and computational demography for policy insights

    Situated at the intersection of the computational and demographic sciences, digital and computational demography explores how new digital data streams and computational methods advance the understanding of population dynamics, along with the impacts of digital technologies on population outcomes, e.g. linked to health, fertility and migration. Encompassing the data, methodological and social impacts of digital technologies, we outline key opportunities provided by digital and computational demography for generating policy insights. Within methodological opportunities, individual-level simulation approaches, such as microsimulation and agent-based modelling, infused with different data, provide tools to create empirically informed synthetic populations that can serve as virtual laboratories to test the impact of different social policies (e.g. fertility policies, support for the elderly or bereaved people). Individual-level simulation approaches allow also to assess policy-relevant questions about the impacts of demographic changes linked to ageing, climate change and migration. Within data opportunities, digital trace data provide a system for early warning with detailed spatial and temporal granularity, which are useful to monitor demographic quantities in real time or for understanding societal responses to demographic change. The demographic perspective highlights the importance of understanding population heterogeneity in the use and impacts of different types of digital technologies, which is crucial towards building more inclusive digital spaces

    Asymptomatic bacteriuria in antenatal cases and its effects on obstetrical outcome

    Background: Urinary tract infection is the second most common bacterial infection seen during pregnancy and is due to the morphological and physiological changes that take place in the genitourinary tract. The pregnant women are two times more commonly affected than age matched non pregnant females and it may lead to less favorable pregnancy outcomes and complications such as premature birth, low birth weight, pyelonephritis, preeclampsia and anemia.Methods: This hospital based cross sectional study was conducted on 350 pregnant women, falling into the inclusion criteria of the study, who attended the antenatal clinic in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at PCMS and RC, Bhopal, irrespective of the gestational age of the cases. The cases found to have asymptomatic bacteriuria were followed till delivery and any adverse antenatal or perinatal outcome was noted.Results: The study was conducted with the aim to know the prevalence of asymptomatic bacteriuria and the obstetrical outcome in pregnant women. The prevalence of asymptomatic bacteriuria was 13% and it was common in the age group of 21-25 years, in primigravidas and with period of gestation less than 12 weeks. E. coli was found to be the commonest causative organism. Asymptomatic bacteriuria was found significantly associated with the presence of anemia. Maternal morbidity in terms of pre term labour was higher in cases with asymptomatic bacteriuria.Conclusions: Urine culture and sensitivity should be done as a routine investigation to screen the patients for asymptomatic bacteriuria and to prevent adverse maternal and fetal outcomes

    Organizational culture and Leadership both have been under research for a long time, as they play a vital role in the performance of an organization. The organizational culture is the set of rules or acts as a guidebook of an organization for achieving the objectives while leadership defines these rules and implements them as well. Organizational culture is dependent to a great extent on the norms and values of the society or the country where it is located. Important for achieving the objectives of an organization, this factor plays a vital role while setting the organizational culture. Incorporating organizational culture and then sustaining it is done by the leaders. Leadership if does not play an effective role in regards to implementation of the organizational culture, can collapse the organizational structure. Leaders are required to develop the qualities according to the organizational culture and should be responsible to come forward to transform if necessary and implement the system. The organizational culture should fulfill the needs of the organization’s goals and the norms of the society. Both leadership and organizational culture are co-dependent on each other and should be understood together

    Fine motor skills and unsystematic spatial binding in the common region test (CRT): under-inclusivity in ASD and over-inclusivity in ADHD

    Introduction: The Common Region Test (CRT) is useful for predicting children’s visual memory as individual object-place binding predicted better object memory while objects-region coding predicted better place memory. Aim: The aim was to test children with ASD and ADHD with regards to spatial binding in the CRT. Methods: (1) 19 children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), (2) 20 children with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), (3) gender-matched chronological age (CA) and (4) verbal mental age (MA) typically developing (TD) children as control groups were tested with the CRT and Bender Gestalt tests (N = 117). Results: Children with ASD and ADHD showed more unsystematic coding than TD children. This was due to lower fine motor skills, and in children with ADHD also because of reduced verbal naming. Almost all children with ASD presented the less mature under-inclusive Type I unsystematic coding which included object-place binding, while children with ADHD showed the overinclusive Type II unsystematic coding that was overriding the Gestalt-like properties of proximity and similarity. Conclusions: It was demonstrated that the CRT is a useful screening instrument for ASD and ADHD that shows that their spatial categorization varies in their unsystematic visuo-spatial classification due to fine motor skill deficiencies

    Reliance on scientists and experts during an epidemic: Evidence from the COVID-19 outbreak in Italy

    Research suggests trust in experts and authorities are important correlates of compliance with public health measures during infectious disease outbreaks. Empirical evidence on the dynamics of reliance on scientists and public health authorities during the early phases of an epidemic outbreak is limited. We examine these processes during the COVID-19 outbreak in Italy by leveraging data from Twitter and two online surveys, including a survey experiment. We find that reliance on experts followed a curvilinear path. Both Twitter and survey data showed initial increases in information-seeking from expert sources in the three weeks after the detection of the first case. Consistent with these increases, knowledge about health information linked to COVID-19 and support for containment measures was widespread, and better knowledge was associated with stronger support for containment policies. Both knowledge and containment support were positively associated with trust in science and public health authorities. However, in the third week after the outbreak, we detected a slowdown in responsiveness to experts. These processes were corroborated with a survey experiment, which showed that those holding incorrect beliefs about COVID-19 gave no greater – or even lower – importance to information when its source was stated as coming from experts than when the source was unstated. Our results suggest weakened trust in public health authorities with prolonged exposure to the epidemic as a potential mechanism for this effect. Weakened responsiveness to expert sources may increase susceptibility to misinformation and our results call for efforts to sustain trust in adapting public health response
