Necesidades formativas de los directores escolares

Todos los que nos dedicamos a la educación en cualquiera de sus ámbitos sabemos que la función directiva es una pieza clave en el funcionamiento de las organizaciones educativas. Pero, ¿Qué formación reciben nuestros directores? ¿Qué formación reciben sus colegas en Europa? ¿Qué capacidades y conocimientos son imprescindibles en un director escolar? ¿Son nuestros directores de calidad? Esta comunicación intentará responder a estas cuestiones y aclarar las dudas y polémicas que siempre rodean este aspecto. En primer lugar haremos un recorrido por la formación que actualmente reciben los directores escolares en España y veremos como es el panorama Europeo en este aspecto. Justificaremos por qué la instrucción de un directivo no debe centrarse solo en la formación sobre el funcionamiento y gestión de centros (administrativa y de recursos), sino que debe incluir también la gestión de las relaciones en el centro, el trabajo en equipo, las habilidades sociales, la resolución de conflictos, la comunicación y el tratamiento de la convivencia en el centro. Y no podemos olvidar como se lleva a cabo el periodo de prácticas de los directores electos, que consideramos parte fundamental de la instrucción y la mejor manera de acercarse a la realidad del trabajo que se va a desempeñar, ni la formación continua, que aunque no obligatoria, si se debe considerar igual o más importante que la inicial. La complejidad de las demandas sociales, la democratización de la toma de decisiones en los centros y el aumento de la autonomía de las instituciones de formación, hace que para nuestros directores sea imprescindible recibir la formación adecuada que consiga que - Un director sea un buen líder. Basando su liderazgo en la implicación de los participantes para mejorar la organización desde el compromiso de todos, viajando del liderazgo transformacional al liderazgo distribuido. - Un director conozca la cultura de su institución. Como señala Gan Bustos (2007) los directores deben conocer el contenido de la cultura organizacional de su centro para poder influir sobre la misma en pro del cambio y la mejora a la que debe dar respuesta. - Un director escolar sepa crear comunidades de aprendizaje, y para ello debe conocer los facilitadores e inhibidores de las mismas. - Un director tiene que estar instruido en la evaluación y la calidad. Debe perseguir una educación de calidad en su escuela y, por eso, necesita introducir en su centro una cultura de evaluación y mejora que le permita orientar su tarea hacia la calidad en la educación que oferta. - Un director debe adquirir habilidades sociales. Con el fin de mantener un buen clima en la institución que satisfaga a toda la comunidad educativa. Terminaremos esta comunicación reflexionando sobre si nuestros directores son o no de calidad, aunque es difícil ser optimistas tras conocer los datos de las distintas evaluaciones de nuestro sistema educativo, donde no podemos obviar que los directores de las instituciones de formación tendrán alguna responsabilidad, al margen de las limitaciones que pueda suponer el sistema educativo actual

Nobleza y comercio transocéanico: el camino del gobernador Fausto Cruzat y Góngora.

Fausto Cruzat y Góngora se trata de uno de los tantos hijos secundones de las familias nobles navarras, que durante los últimos compases del siglo xvii, buscaron su propio camino lejos de sus tierras de origen. En su caso, Fausto, a pesar de iniciarse en la carrera militar, pronto se desplazó hasta el ámbito comercial, donde tejió unos estrechos lazos con el mercado novohispano y con la familia Tagle. Los cuales, le guiaron hacia la Audiencia de Filipinas, donde demostraría sus dotes y educación, llevando a la Gobernación hacia el nuevo siglo e iniciando importantes reformas tanto económicas como institucionales.Fausto Gruzat and Góngora was one of the many younger sons of the noble families of Navarre who sought their own path far from their homelands during the final years of the 17th century. Performance analysis of Energy Efficient Ethernet on video streaming servers

[EN] Current trends on traffic growth oversee a steady increase of video streaming services, and the subsequent development of the associated infrastructure to allocate and distribute such contents. One of the operational costs associated to this infrastructure is the power bill. Therefore any mechanism used to decrease it, reducing also the carbon footprint asso- ciated to it, is welcome. In this work we investigate the suitability of the recently standard- ized IEEE 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE) for video traffic generated by video- streaming servers. The conclusion of the analysis is positive about the achievable energy savings, due to the inherent features of traffic patterns of video-streaming servers which help reducing the number of transitions between active and low-power modes in EEE.Part of the research leading to these received funding from the European Community's Seventh Framework Programme (FP7-ICT-2009-5) under Grant agreement No. 258053 (MEDIEVAL project). Delay analysis of mixed fronthaul and backhaul traffic under strict priority queueing discipline in a 5G packet transport network

Virtualization of the base station for the purpose of centralization is being actively studied and researched as an implementation option for 5G mobile networks. Proposed as Cloud radio access network, the technology is expected to facilitate easier operation and maintenance than regular radio access networks. However, the base stations traffic has stringent delay requirements. In this paper, we explore the possibility of multiplexing fronthaul traffic and traditional backhaul traffic as it traverses over the metropolitan network while keeping the average fronthaul queueing delay and jitter under control. We analyze and simulate the cases of a single fronthaul flow and multiple fronthaul flows arriving at the packet switch assuming strict priority for the fronthaul queue. We propose a fronthaul frame aggregation strategy to improve the packet transmission efficiency while keeping the average fronthaul queueing delay and jitter constant regardless of the percentage of fronthaul traffic. While the criteria for aggregation is different for the 2 cases, we show that the optimal number of basic frames to aggregate is between 3-10 frames assuming the Common Public Radio Interface protocol.The authors would like to acknowledge the support of projects TIGRE5-CM (grant no. Security of HyperLogLog (HLL) Cardinality Estimation: Vulnerabilities and Protection

Count distinct or cardinality estimates are widely used in network monitoring for security. They can be used, for example, to detect the malware spread, network scans, or a denial of service attack. There are many algorithms to estimate cardinality. Among those, HyperLogLog (HLL) has been one of the most widely adopted. HLL is simple, provides good cardinality estimates over a wide range of values, requires a small amount of memory, and allows merging of estimates from different sources. However, as HLL is increasingly used to detect attacks, it can itself become the target of attackers that want to avoid being detected. To the best of our knowledge, the security of HLL has not been studied before. In this letter, we take an initial step in its study by first exposing a vulnerability of HLL that allows an attacker to manipulate its estimate. This shows the importance of designing secure HLL implementations. In the second part of the letter, we propose an efficient protection technique to detect and avoid the HLL manipulation. The results presented strongly suggest that the security of HLL should be further studied given that it is widely adopted in many networking and computing applications
