Reliable capacity planning despite uncertain disassembly, regeneration and reassembly workloads by using statistical and mathematical approaches - Validation in subsidiaries of a global MRO company with operations in Asia, Europe and North America

The MRO industry faces substantial challenges with regard to the capacity planning of disassembly and reassembly work. This is due to the unknown workloads when regenerating complex investment goods and is caused, in particular, by the uncertain degree of disassembly and the complex challenges of reassembly. Forecasting techniques based on Bayesian networks are developed along with mathematical models which optimize capacity utilization, job order and the resulting costs. The approaches are tested and validated in conjunction with an MRO company with global operations. The results show possibilities for enhancing the planning processes and are found to be transferable on an international scale regardless of sociocultural and process differences.DFG/CRC/87

A hatalmi hierarchia átalakulása az MSZMP Politikai Bizottságában a 80-as években: Interakciós elemzés = The transformation of political hierarchy in the Politburo of the Hungarian Socialist Workers' Party: An analysis of interaction

A kutatás az MSZMP Politikai Bizottsága 1985-es és 1988-as éveiben lezajlott üléseiről készült magnetofon-felvételek interakciós elemzését tűzte ki feladatául a PB-tagok hatalmi hierarchiájának rekonstruálására. Az adatfelvétel nem fejeződött be, de máris nagy mennyiségű digitális átirat áll rendelkezésre (melyet a Magyar Országos Levéltárnak is rendelkezésre bocsátottam). A hatalmi hierarchia változásának interakciós alapú rekonstruálása a végső szintézis feladata (bár részeredmények már születtek, pl. Németh Károly háttérbe szorulása 1988 elején), de addig is a diskurzusszerveződési és interakciós jelenségek elemzésében történt nagyobb előrelépés. Diskurzuselemzési-szövegnyelvészeti eredmény például a napirendi javaslat, az elhangzott vita és az írásos határozat szövegösszefüggéseinek, vagy 1-1 nagyobb vitát kiváltó témában (pl. az MDF színrelépése, a '88-as pártértekezlet szavazási procedúrája) az interaktív argumentációnak az elemzése. Az interakciós jelenségek közül igen különböző aspektusokkal: az adott téma vagy személy fontosságának interakciós konstruálásával, a beszédmennyiség és az egymás szavába vágás hatalmi összefüggéseivel, a tisztelet és az irónia kifejezésével, az egyetértés/egyetnemértés beszédaktusaival, ill. a tegezés/magázás szokásainak változásával foglalkoztam. | The research aims at reconstructing the power hierarchy of Political Committee members of the Hungarian Socialist Workers' Party with the help of an interaction analysis of tape-recordings made at Politburo meetings in 1985 and 1988. The data collection has not finished, but a considerable amount of digitalized transcripts is already available (forwarded also to the Hungarian National Archive). The interaction based reconstruction of the changes in the power hierarchy is a task of the final synthesis (although some analyses have been made, e.g., how in early 1988 Károly Németh was gradually pushed into the background), in the meantime major steps have been made in discourse and interaction analysis. For a discourse analytical and text linguistic example, correspondences have been analysed across agendas, oral discussions and written resolutions, or the interactional argumentation of topics triggering major debates (e.g., about the birth of MDF, the voting procedure of the 1988 party conference) has been analysed. Among the interactional phenomena vastly different aspects have been investigated: the interactional construction of the importance of a given topic or person, the power aspects of the quantity of talk and interruption, the expression of respect and irony, the speech acts of agreement/disagreement, and changes in tu/vos addressing patterns

LABOUR MARKET, VOCATIONAL TRAINING AND LSP TEACHING

This paper has three objectives: The first is to provide a brief description of the labour market tendencies and trends and how these affect vocational training. The second is to focus on the current state situation of LSP teaching - as an integral part of vocational training - in Hungary. Furthermore, how an LSP teacher should respond to labour market expectations.The third is to report the findings of a survey planned, executed and analysed by the author. The survey is concerned with how the average Hungarian company (employer) sees the importance of linguistic and LSP competence

CCTOP: a Consensus Constrained TOPology prediction web server.

The Consensus Constrained TOPology prediction (CCTOP; http://cctop.enzim.ttk.mta.hu) server is a web-based application providing transmembrane topology prediction. In addition to utilizing 10 different state-of-the-art topology prediction methods, the CCTOP server incorporates topology information from existing experimental and computational sources available in the PDBTM, TOPDB and TOPDOM databases using the probabilistic framework of hidden Markov model. The server provides the option to precede the topology prediction with signal peptide prediction and transmembrane-globular protein discrimination. The initial result can be recalculated by (de)selecting any of the prediction methods or mapped experiments or by adding user specified constraints. CCTOP showed superior performance to existing approaches. The reliability of each prediction is also calculated, which correlates with the accuracy of the per protein topology prediction. The prediction results and the collected experimental information are visualized on the CCTOP home page and can be downloaded in XML format. Programmable access of the CCTOP server is also available, and an example of client-side script is provided
