Growth of Additive Manufacturing Due to Global Pandemic and its Effect on Supply Chain Management

    Get PDF
Additive manufacturing is a revolutionary technology because of its ability to creates objects by adding material layer by layer rather than removing material from a block or by moulding procedure. Additive manufacturing has been around for more than three decades but still, traditional manufacturing is the dominant method for manufacturing. COVID-19 pandemic has been a torment globally and has brought distress and instability to the global economy. Due to this, the manufacturing sectors are badly affected. In this time of crisis, additive manufacturing has played a major role. This paper discusses the upsurge of Additive manufacturing due global COVID-19 pandemic and its worldwide impact on supply chain management

India’s Strategy to Procure Lithium to be a Leading Lithium-Ion Battery Manufacturer

    Get PDF
Lithium is one of the foremost valuable metal which is widely used for manufacturing batteries and also has other uses in solar panels, ceramics, glasses and pharmaceuticals. Lithium is third most abundant element after hydrogen and helium but the most lithium deposits are only in Bolivia (21 million tons), Argentina (17 million tons), Chile (9 million tons), Australia (6.8 million tons), China (4.5 million tons). Bolivia, Argentina, Chile forms so called lithium triangle. Due to depleting reserves of fossil fuels and its harmful impact on the environment has forced the globe to shift to Lithium-ion batteries which is much eco-friendlier alternative. India’s push for electric vehicles (EV) may cause a considerable change in its energy security priorities, with securing lithium supplies, a key material for creating batteries, becoming as important as buying oil and gas fields overseas. India doesn't have enough lithium reserves for manufacturing lithium-ion batteries. The majority electric vehicles within the country run on imported batteries, mostly from China. At present a lithium-ion battery accounts for 40% of the overall cost of an electrical vehicle. Khanij Bidesh Pvt Ltd is a venture firm of three central public sector enterprises namely National Aluminum Company (Nalco), Hindustan Copper Ltd (HCL), Mineral Exploration Company Ltd (MECL). The KABIL would do identification, acquisition, exploration, development, mining and processing of strategic minerals overseas for commercial use and meeting country’s requirement of those minerals. The mission is to not allow India to fall in a very vulnerable position with a probable threat of supply squeeze as went on within the case of petroleum, with India being the world’s third largest oil importer and to amass cobalt and lithium mines in addition on get into purchase agreements of those minerals. This may help in achieving resource security with regard to strategic minerals

Dentigerous Cyst containing a Supernumerary Tooth below Floor of Maxillary Sinus

    Get PDF
Dentigerous cyst is considered to be a developmental odontogenic cyst that surrounds the crown of impacted, unerupted or supernumerary teeth. This case report presents adentigerous cyst associated with a supplemental supernumerary tooth in right anterior maxillary region. Enucleation of the pathology along with the impacted supernumerary tooth wasdone. The patient has remained asymptomatic since 6 months and there is no evidence of recurrence

Implementation Aspects of a Transmitted-Reference UWB Receiver

    Get PDF
In this paper, we discuss the design issues of an ultra wide band (UWB) receiver targeting a single-chip CMOS implementation for low data-rate applications like ad hoc wireless sensor networks. A non-coherent transmitted reference (TR) receiver is chosen because of its small complexity compared to other architectures. After a brief recapitulation of the UWB fundamentals and a short discussion on the major differences between coherent and non-coherent receivers, we discuss issues, challenges and possible design solutions. Several simulation results obtained by means of a behavioral model are presented, together with an analysis of the trade-off between performance and complexity in an integrated circuit implementation

Rechargeable Active Implantable Medical Devices (AIMDs)

    No full text
Active Implantable Medical Devices (AIMDs) act as lifesaving devices. They provide electrical signals to tissues as well as perform data-logging operations. To perform these operations, they need power. The battery is the only source for such devices, as they are placed invasively inside the human body. Once the battery drains out, the patient wearing the device has to undergo medical surgery for the second time, where there are many chances of infections, and it could be life-threatening too. If the AIMDs, e.g., pacemakers are designed using rechargeable batteries, then the devices can be recharged regularly, which can increase the life of the device as well as reduce its size. Wireless charging of AIMDs such as ICDs or pacemakers is proposed in this paper using magnetic resonant coupling. The selection of frequency for power transfer is the most crucial part, as the basic restriction (BR) criteria proposed by ICNIRP guidelines and the IEEEC95.1 standard need to be followed, which ensures the safety of the patient. This is suggested by considering some basic restriction parameters, such as specific absorption rate (SAR) and current density, as suggested by guidelines. In this paper, experimentation using two frequencies is shown, i.e., 1.47 MHz (the high frequency) and 62 KHz (the low frequency). For experimentation, goat flesh and saline solution are used. Secondary coil and flesh are dipped in the saline solution. Battery recharging performed at a lower frequency took less time than with a frequency in the MHz range. All BR criteria are fulfilled for both frequencies, so the proposed methodology is safe to use

Biocompatibility of root-end filling materials: recent update

    Get PDF
The purpose of a root-end filling is to establish a seal between the root canal space and the periradicular tissues. As root-end filling materials come into contact with periradicular tissues, knowledge of the tissue response is crucial. Almost every available dental restorative material has been suggested as the root-end material of choice at a certain point in the past. This literature review on root-end filling materials will evaluate and comparatively analyse the biocompatibility and tissue response to these products, with primary focus on newly introduced materials
