Using Big Data to Enhance the Bosch Production Line Performance: A Kaggle Challenge

This paper describes our approach to the Bosch production line performance challenge run by Kaggle.com. Maximizing the production yield is at the heart of the manufacturing industry. At the Bosch assembly line, data is recorded for products as they progress through each stage. Data science methods are applied to this huge data repository consisting records of tests and measurements made for each component along the assembly line to predict internal failures. We found that it is possible to train a model that predicts which parts are most likely to fail. Thus a smarter failure detection system can be built and the parts tagged likely to fail can be salvaged to decrease operating costs and increase the profit margins.Comment: IEEE Big Data 2016 Conferenc

    Deterministic inhomogeneous inertia ratchets

We study the deterministic dynamics of a periodically driven particle in the underdamped case in a spatially symmetric periodic potential. The system is subjected to a space-dependent friction coefficient, which is similarly periodic as the potential but with a phase difference. We observe that frictional inhomogeneity in a symmetric periodic potential mimics most of the qualitative features of deterministic dynamics in a homogeneous system with an asymmetric periodic potential. We point out the need of averaging over the initial phase of the external drive at small frictional inhomogeneity parameter values or analogously low potential asymmetry regimes in obtaining ratchet current. We also show that at low amplitudes of the drive, where ratchet current is not possible in the deterministic case, noise plays a significant role in realizing ratchet current.Comment: 15 pages, 15 figure

In the present era, Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is a documented as one of the most common hormonal endocrine disorders affecting 5-10 % of females due to life style and stress. It is characterized by hyper androgonism, polycystic ovaries, and chronic anovulation along with insulin resistance, abdominal obesity, hypertension, irregular menses, abnormal uterine bleeding and difficulty getting pregnancy. Most of the patients taking allopathic medicine but results are not so good. Laparoscopic ovarian drilling is the treatment of choice in case of PCOS in the conventional system. Noninvasive, safe and economically management is required. Ayurvedic approach to pathogenesis of PCOS can provide the solution to rising cases of this illness. Objective: to assess the clinical efficacy of Ayurvedic intervention in the management of Polycystic ovarian syndrome using with clinical symptoms and Ultrasonography (USG). Material and Method: it was a single case study. Kanchnara guggulu 750mg and Kanya lohadi vati 500mg along with Kanchnar kasaya 20 ml twice in a day with water for 90 days were used. Results: clinical symptoms were reduced and USG were significantly changed from baseline to end of the treatment
