Critical Ising Model in Varying Dimension by Conformal Bootstrap

The single-correlator conformal bootstrap is solved numerically for several values of dimension 4>d>2 using the available SDPB and Extremal Functional methods. Critical exponents and other conformal data of low-lying states are obtained over the entire range of dimensions with up to four-decimal precision and then compared with several existing results. The conformal dimensions of leading-twist fields are also determined up to high spin, and their d-dependence shows how the conformal states rearrange themselves around d=2.2 for matching the Virasoro conformal blocks in the d=2 limit. The decoupling of states at the Ising point is studied for 3>d>2 and the vanishing of one structure constant at d=3 is found to persist till d=2 where it corresponds to a Virasoro null-vector condition.Comment: 43 pages, 15 figures, 7 tables, numerical data and Mathematica files are available upon request; v2: epsilon-expansion data adde

Wolff and on the significance of the Symposia. Part two singles out some of the fundamental themes and trends of current scholarly work on Greek law, with particular reference to the problem of the sources and to such areas as private and penal law and judicial procedures

Blockchain and beyond: proactive logic smart contracts

Blockchain-based smart contracts are computer programs which run on top of a blockchain in order to enforce the terms of an agreement between mutually-untrusted parties without the need of a trusted intermediary. With their actual implementations, smart contracts are passive entities, that is, they do nothing until one of the parties explicitly trigger them. As a result, they are not able to "actively" participate in the execution of the agreement. Furthermore, since they are deployed on the blockchain, their source code is immutable and cannot be adapted as changes in the real world occur over time. In this thesis, we rethink blockchain-based smart contracts as proactive and logic entities to overcome the aforementioned issues. In our vision, smart contracts are "proactive" in the sense that they can act without necessarily being triggered by one of their parties, and "logic" in the sense that their business logic is expressed by means of logic programming, allowing for a controllable mutability of their behaviour over time through meta programming. In this work, we analyse the problems which arise as soon as smart contracts are designed as proactive entities, carrying out a feasibility study for their implementation in the first place. Subsequently, we implement a system which supports their execution as a proof-of-concept for our idea. Finally, we show how our proactive smart contracts can be used to further enforce the terms of a contract with respect to three different use cases. This work represents a first step towards our final end, which consists in the realization of fully autonomous smart contracts, able to reason about the world and automatically act against violations committed with respect to the agreement's terms

A study of the usefulness of Skylab EREP data for earth resources studies in Australia

The author has identified the following significant results. The stereo cover of the Skylab photos, their clarity, and their resolution put them far above the ERTS imagery not only in distinguishing between patterns but also in determining the nature of the country. The following land systems: (1) plains with sand dunes; (2) ridges, foothills, and alluvial plains; (3) dune-covered country with stony hills; and (4) alluvial plains were indistinguishable on the ERTS imagery. However, the same places are clearly distinguishable on the Skylab photos, together with the character of the dunes (parallel, reticulate, or irregular)
