The rationale for a wider concept of Inclusive Education for teacher education: A case-study of Serbia

    Get PDF
Teacher education for inclusive education (IE) is recognized as vital for improving quality and equity in education globally. In the Western Balkan countries it is also part of the transition process towards joining the European Union and has attracted international funding for IE-related projects. A key finding from research funded by the European Training Foundation, carried out by the authors as members of a seven-country research team in 2009-2010, was that the prevailing local understanding of IE was very narrow. In this article we hypothesize the reasons for this finding. We use a case study of school and teacher education systems in Serbia to explore how this understanding has constrained the development of IE and associated teacher education and limited the efficacy of some recent internationally supported developments. We identify both challenges and possible ways forward for teacher education for IE based on promoting a concept of IE that is both collaboratively agreed and comprehensive. © 2012 UNESCO IBE

Land cover changes of the Belgrade area over the past three centuries

This paper studies land cover changes of Belgrade, over the past three centuries. For this purpose, we applied an interdisciplinary approach by integrating historical and landscape ecological perspectives. We produced four reconstruction maps presenting land cover around the turn of the 18th, 19th, 20th and 21st centuries, based on historical maps and written sources. The conversion of land cover from historical maps was done based on CORINE Land Cover level 3, while Land Cover level 1 was used for displaying on the reconstruction maps. This allowed us to compare the changes that occurred from the turn of one century to the next. It was determined that land cover of Belgrade has transformed from dominantly semi-natural in the 18th century, to agricultural in the 19th century, and artificial in the 20th century. We determined that the driving forces of land cover changes were activities that were part of the political agendas of various states that governed Belgrade. The present analysis bridges the gap in the relevant literature on land cover changes in Belgrade in the long-term, and provides qualitative and quantitative results relevant for research-based management actions, planning processes and restoration ecology

This thesis deals with the lighting systems of the portable power stations from ČEPS a.s. company. Requirements for properties of the lighting systems determined by technical standard TN/59/2013 are summarized in the first section. Lights and lighting sources appropriate for portable stations are mentioned in the following section. Furthermore, I describe and evaluate installed lighting systems used as a fence lighting. In the penultimate section is a financial comparison of the present and new lighting systems. In the last section I deal with convenient guard lighting for the TSFO camera system, which can provide the clearest camera image at night.410 - Katedra elektroenergetikyvýborn

Interpretability of Deep Neural Networks for Image Segmentation

Od rozšíření prozkoumávání vesmíru, především v komerčním sektoru, dochází k vzinku obrovského množství satelitních snímků. Množství dat dodávaných různými satelity zvyšuje poptávku po interpretaci těchto dat za účelem získání hodnotých informací. Příkladem takových dat je dataset SpaceNet. Cílem této práce je vytvoření a vyhodnocení hluboké neuronové sítě, jakožto řešení soutěže SpaceNet Road Network Detection challenge. Kvůli komplexitě datasetu SpaceNet jsou prozkoumány a využity různé metody interpretovatelnosti pro neuronové sítě.Since the widespread of space exploration, especially in the commercial sector, there has been an enormous supply of satellite imagery. The amount of data supplied by various satellites raises demand in human interpretation of given data in order to obtain valuable information. One example of such data is the SpaceNet dataset. The aim of this work is to design and evaluate a deep neural network as a solution to the SpaceNet Road Network Detection challenge based on state-of-the-art published architectures. Due to the complex nature of the SpaceNet dataset various methods of neural network interpretability are explored and implemented

PATRIA POTESTAS IN PERSONAL AND PROPERTY LEGAL POINT OF VIEW

    Get PDF
To the detriment of the human race, it can be concluded that the surviving material on Roman law is often insufficient for its complete understanding. This problem extends through the topic of this work, which is represented by one of the perhaps most important institutes of Roman family law. How did the Romans get to the stage of the family where everything is subordinated to one person? This work tries to portray the personality of the father of the family, the so-called pater familias, and to explain the role of everyone who was under him in the Roman family

The mapping and enumeration of Informal Roma Settlements in Serbia

    Get PDF
This paper describes five examples of mapping and enumerating poor informal Roma settlements in Serbia, implemented in the last decade by non-governmental organizations and Roma associations as a prelude to different upgrading projects. Their contexts, processes and outcomes are discussed and their common patterns and approaches are summarized. The characteristics and types of Roma settlements are described within the framework of the Roma’s poverty and social exclusion and the lack of adequate responses by national and local authorities to the difficult housing situation in Roma settlements. This paper considers ways of overcoming the gap between the need for reliable mapping and enumeration data and the actual situation, where informal Roma settlements are neither put on official maps in Serbia nor included in formal records, unlike other city areas

    Line Patterns in Free Groups

We study line patterns in a free group by considering the topology of the decomposition space, a quotient of the boundary at infinity of the free group related to the line pattern. We show that the group of quasi-isometries preserving a line pattern in a free group acts by isometries on a related space if and only if there are no cut pairs in the decomposition space.Comment: 35 pages, 22 figures, PDFLatex; v2. finite index requires extra hypothesis; v3. 37 pages, 24 figures: updated references and add example in Section 6.3 of a rigid pattern for which the free group is not finite index in the group of pattern preserving quasi-isometries; v4. 40 pages, 26 figures: improved exposition and add example in Section 6.4 of a rigid pattern whose cube complex is not a tre
