A simple harmonic model as a caricature for mismatch and relaxation effects for ion hopping dynamics in solid electrolytes
We formulate a simple harmonic mean-field model with N+1 particles and
analyse the relaxation processes following a jump of one of these particles.
Either the particle can jump back (single-particle route) or the other N
particles adjust themselves (multi-particle route). The dynamics of this model
is solved analytically in the linear response regime. Furthermore we relate
these results to a phenomenological approach by Funke and coworkers (concept of
mismatch and relaxation: CMR) which has been successfully used to model
conductivity spectra in the field of ion dynamics in solid electrolytes. Since
the mean-field model contains the relevant ingredients of the CMR-approach, a
comparison of the resulting rate equations with the CMR-equations becomes
possible. Generalizations beyond the mean-field case are discussed.Comment: 28 pages, 9 figures, to be published in JC
Characterization of the complex ion dynamics in lithium silicate glasses via computer simulations
We present results of molecular dynamics simulations on lithium metasilicate
over a broad range of temperatures for which the silicate network is frozen in
but the lithium ions can still be equilibrated. The lithium dynamics is studied
via the analysis of different correlation functions. The activation energy for
the lithium mobility agrees very well with experimental data. The correlation
of the dynamics of adjacent ions is weak. At low temperatures the dynamics can
be separated into local vibrational dynamics and hopping events between
adjacent lithium sites. The derivative of the mean square displacement displays
several characteristic time regimes. They can be directly mapped onto
respective frequency regimes for the conductivity. In particular it is possible
to identify time regimes dominated by localized dynamics and long-range
dynamics, respectively. The question of time-temperature superposition is
discussed for the mean square displacement and the incoherent scattering
function.Comment: to be published in Phys. Chem. Chem. Phy
USING THE SIMULATED PATIENT METHODOLOGY TO ASSESS THE QUALITY OF COUNSELLING IN GERMAN COMMUNITY PHARMACIES: A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW FROM 2005 TO 2018
The simulated patient methodology (SPM) is a form of participatory observation and can be used to assess the quality of counselling. The aim is to review those papers reporting the use of the SPM in German community pharmacies (CPs) from the beginning of 2005 to the end of 2018. The reporting items in the study were derived from the PRISMA Statement. We conducted a systematic search in the GVK-Plus, Embase, Web of Science, PubMed and Google Scholar databases. Additional sources included the personal literature collection of 1 of the reviewers and the reference lists from international systematic reviews and potentially relevant papers. The quality of the papers included was evaluated using the AXIS tool. A total of 5 papers were included. The SPM that was used varied greatly in the papers. The quality of counselling was assessed in the papers as being rather poor. The quality of the papers differed for specific assessment criteria. Only an extremely small number of papers could be included, in contrast to other countries. The papers for Germany demonstrate that there is a considerable need for improvement in the quality of counselling in CPs. Also, the deficits identified here for the application of the SPM should be avoided in future papers. It must also be recommended that the SPM be reported in future papers using uniform reporting standards, which are yet to be developed, to ensure better comparability
Wertkörper: Zur Ökonomisierung des menschlichen Körpers im Zeichen von Globalisierung und Neoliberalismus
Recent advances in the fields of genomics and biotechnology have greatly expanded the discretionary autonomy of human beings over their bodies. Biology has so become a new and alluring terrain for the enlightenment project of self-realization and selffulfilment. These developments have been co-evolving with the global expansion of neoliberal capitalism. This article states that there is a common logic at work in both areas, leading not only to the emergence of a global market in biological materials but also to a re-calibration of the biology of human life into lively capital. For this reason, the new „freedom“ of constructing the body according to one’s own preferences and desires in a dialectical inversion entails new obligations and constraints. In the end, only the technologically enhanced human body is fit for the neoliberal world of social cut-backs and can avoid being consigned to a new, this time biologically defined underclass
PAFERM: The Ulisses Particles and Fields Environment Reference Mission
The paper discusses a small satellite mission that was proposed to the European Space Agency (ESA) and to the German Space Agency (DARA). The idea is to support the Ulysses mission by conducting reference measurements in the ecliptic plane, particularly during the time periods of Ulysses\u27 polar passages. The scientific objectives, the instrumentation and the impact on the Ulysses mission are discussed. The mission scenario is described, the mission constraints are given, and a preliminary spacecraft concept is shown
