The Web of Data is certainly a great success for data publication but the state of the art of the applications processing linked data is however not that outstanding. In this paper we highlight an unexploited symbiosis between Semantic Web Services and the Web of Data that could give birth to new families of highly advanced Web applications

Präfrontale Kontrolle von Erwartungen bei der Placebo-Analgesie

Zusammenfassung: Erwartungen und Überzeugungen modulieren das Schmerzempfinden. Dies wird besonders deutlich bei der Placebo-Analgesie. Der dorsolaterale präfrontale Kortex (DLPFC) wird mit Prozessen der Schmerzregulation sowie mit Aspekten der Erzeugung, Aufrechterhaltung und Manipulation von kognitiven Repräsentationen in Verbindung gebracht. In einem Hitzeschmerzreiz-Paradigma wurde eine nichtinvasive niederfrequente repetitive transkranielle Magnetstimulation (rTMS) eingesetzt, um vorübergehend die Funktion des rechten und linken DLPFC zu stören oder um das rTMS-Gerät selbst als Placebo einzusetzen, bevor eine erwartungsinduzierte Placebo-Analgesie angewendet wurde. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass die Scheinbehandlung signifikant Schmerzschwelle und -toleranz erhöhen konnte. Während die rTMS das Schmerzempfinden nicht beeinträchtigte, hob sie doch vollständig die Placebo-Analgesie auf. Diese Ergebnisse lassen vermuten, dass die erwartungsinduzierte Placebo-Analgesie vom präfrontalen Kortex beider Hemisphären vermittelt wird. Effiziente Unternehmenskommunikation: der Jungfrau Region Tourismus AG

Eine effiziente Unternehmenskommunikation ist Schlüssel zum Erfolg eines Unternehmens und wird aus diesem Grund auch für die JRT gewünscht. Deswegen möchte die Kommunikationsleitung einerseits die Qualität der internen Kommunikationsmedien – speziell das Intranet – verbessern, sowie die Mitarbeiter motivieren, das Medium besser für Informationsabfragen und Aufschaltungen von News aus der Region zu nutzen. Ein Ziel der Arbeit ist aufgrund dessen, mit dieser Arbeit herauszufinden, wie Mitarbeiter zur internen Kommunikation stehen und was sie vom neu eingeführten Intranet (Februar 2017) halten. Ich möchte herausfinden, was die Benutzer der Plattform ändern beziehungsweise verbessern würden, damit sie das Intranet in Zukunft regelmässig benutzen sprich Informationen aktualisieren und News zum Unternehmen darin abrufen. Die Idee hinter diesem Teil meiner Arbeit ist, die Funktionen der aktuellen Intranetversion zu verbessern, den Erwartungen der Mitarbeiter anzupassen und die Plattform in der Version 2.0 attraktiver zu gestalten

The G-20 and the dilemma of asymmetric sovereignty : why multilateralism is failing in crisis prevention

The Group of Twenty (G-20) is not able to move forward with the reforms necessary to prevent future financial crises. Successes achieved in crisis management cannot be transformed into joint crisis prevention. The global regulation of financial markets, agreed upon at previous G-20 summits, was intended to make the international financial system more stable and more resilient against future crises. Alas, the expectations were unfulfilled. At least as serious are the failure of the Doha Round and the incapability of the G-20 to prevent it, despite the frequently voiced commitment to a multilateral order. The structural crisis in current global regulation is not least the result of an asymmetric sovereignty in financial politics: States possess only marginal influence on international financial markets, but they are liable in times of crisis. The result is a renationalization of financial policies. At the same time, the increasingly critical perception of globalization, in particular in societies of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), complicates the further evolution of the multilateral trade order. Dynamic weighting of feature dimensions in visual search: behavioral and psychophysiological evidence

Dimension-based accounts of visual search and selection have significantly contributed to the understanding of the cognitive mechanisms of attention. Extensions of the original approach assuming the existence of dimension-based feature contrast saliency signals that govern the allocation of focal attention have recently been employed to explain the spatial and temporal dynamics of the relative strengths of saliency representations. Here we review behavioral and neurophysiological findings providing evidence for the dynamic trial-by-trial weighting of feature dimensions in a variety of visual search tasks. The examination of the effects of feature and dimension-based inter-trial transitions in feature detection tasks shows that search performance is affected by the change of target-defining dimensions, but not features. The use of the redundant-signals paradigm shows that feature contrast saliency signals are integrated at a pre-selective processing stage. The comparison of feature detection and compound search tasks suggests that the relative significance of dimension-dependent and dimension-independent saliency representations is task-contingent. Empirical findings that explain reduced dimension-based effects in compound search tasks are discussed. Psychophysiological evidence is presented that confirms the assumption that the locus of the effects of feature dimension changes is perceptual pre-selective rather than post-selective response-based.
