    Development of security in wireless sensor network using IPv6

    The Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) is one of core technologies expected to become a potential basis of future ever-present networks. WSN consists of multiple low cost sensor nodes, which could either, have a fixed location or randomly deployed that can communicate with each other for monitoring environments, medical systems, home network, industry automation and so on. However, most of the application scenarios require connectivity between WSNs and the Internet. Though WSN is typically not IP-enabled, connection to the IP network makes it easy to monitor sensors everywhere in the world. One of the purposes of the research work is to incorporate the IPv6 with WSNs, where IPv6 offers a larger address space. Therefore each of the sensor nodes will have their own IP address compare to IPv4, which has limited address space.The main objective of this research is to implement security in WSNs. Sensor networks are typically characterized by limited power supplies, low bandwidth, small memory sizes and limited energy. In addition, unlike traditional networks, sensor nodes are often deployed in accessible areas, presenting the added risk of physical attack. This leads to a very demanding environment in providing security. The research proposed XOR encryption algorithm that possesses built-in and enhanced security measure. The encryption and decryption of the payload secure the data's of the packet transfer. Other than that the XOR encryption is meant to realize the real time routing where the packets will be delivered within their end-to-end deadlines.XOR encryption security has been implemented in the 61owpan/IPv6 stack for TinyOS 2.1. TinyOS 2.1 an embedded operating system commonly used in wireless sensor networks.     Ruptured Splenic Abscess following Percutaneous Transluminal Angioplasty in a 40-Year-Old Man

    The incidence of splenic abscesses is currently 0.14–0.7% with a reported mortality of 0–47%. The diagnosis of splenic abscess which has ruptured into the abdomen is often overlooked because of its rarity and its misleading clinical presentations. Percutaneous coronary interventions (PCIs) and coronary stenting procedures increased from 184,000 to 885,000 (from 335 to 1,550) and from 3,000 to 770,000 (from 5 to 1,350 per one million inhabitants), respectively. A 40-year-old Asian male presented to our emergency department with upper abdominal pain 5 days after a percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty. Clinical examination raised the possibilities of acute pancreatitis and intraabdominal sepsis. An initial ultrasound of the abdomen and blood tests were negative. A computed tomography scan of the abdomen revealed a splenic abscess that had ruptured into the abdomen. Pus culture revealed a multidrug-resistant strain of Klebsiella pneumoniae that was sensitive to meropenem. The patient recovered quickly after open surgical drainage and antibiotic therapy. As this is the second case of splenic abscess and the first case report of a ruptured splenic abscess following a PCI, it will be rational to administer a short course of antibiotic prophylaxis for high-risk immunocompromised patients who are undergoing percutaneous transluminal coronary intervention

    Differential Gene Expression of Human Mast cell Activation Reveals Gene profiles of Innate and Adaptive Immunity.

    High-density oligonucleotide microarray is a promising approach for high throughput analysis. It has been extensively used in many areas of biomedical research. Immunoglobulin E (IgE) mediated allergic response (type-1 hypersensitivity) is one of the most powerful reactions of the immune system. Tissue Mast Cells (MCs) and circulating basophils are the major effector cells in these reactions. By dissecting the regulatory circuitry of mast cells by analyzing the genome wide effects of antigen stimulation triggered by FcεRI, offers a potential for finding novel genes as ‘targets’ for therapeutic intervention. In this work, we tried to study the gene expression pattern in IgE sensitized and FcεRI cross linked cord blood derived MCs using one of the latest techniques, high density oligonucleotide expression probe array (HG-Focus array, Gene Chip, Affymetrix, Santa Clara, CA). Microarray hybridization of RNA from cord blood derived MCs revealed coordinated changes in gene expression in response to IgE stimulation and receptor cross linking at different time points. Among the most prominent findings, we observed 2 to 32-fold increased expression of different transcripts. Real-time PCR confirmed reliability of microarray data. This enabled us to classify and cluster genes by functional families as well as to understand known genes in signaling pathways. These results defined a list of primary candidates for finding novel genes as ‘targets’ for therapeutic intervention
