    Universal Variable-to-Fixed Length Lossy Compression at Finite Blocklengths

    We consider universal variable-to-fixed length compression of memoryless sources with a fidelity criterion. We design a dictionary codebook over the reproduction alphabet which is used to parse the source stream. Once a source subsequence is within a specified distortion of a dictionary codeword, the index of the codeword is emitted as the reproduced string. Our proposed dictionary consists of coverings of type classes in the boundary of transition from low to high empirical lossy rate. We derive the asymptotics of the \epsilon-coding rate (up to the third-order term) of our coding scheme for large enough dictionaries

    Flexicult® Vet -viljelymaljan vertailututkimus koirien ja kissojen virtsatieinfektioiden diagnostiikassa

    Virtsatieinfektiot ovat yleinen syy mikrobilääkkeiden määräämiseen koirilla ja kissoilla. Virtsaviljelyllä pyritään löytämään virtsatieinfektioita aiheuttava bakteeri, jolle tehdään oikean lääkkeen löytämiseksi myös antibioottiherkkyysmääritys. Kansainvälisten suositusten mukaan lemmikkieläinten epäiltyjen virtsatietulehdusten antibioottihoidon tulisi perustua viljely- ja herkkyystesteihin. Yleisimmillä määritysmenetelmillä kestää kuitenkin kaksi päivää ennen kuin herkkyysmäärityksen tuloksiin perustuva hoito voidaan aloittaa. Toimeksiantajana tutkimuksessa toimi Triolab Oy. Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli verrata silmämääräisesti Triolabin valikoimaan tulleen koirille ja kissoille tarkoitetun Flexicult® Vet -virtsaviljelymaljan tuloksia perinteiseen virtsan bakteeriviljelyyn ja herkkyysmääritykseen. Vertailumaljaksi valittiin yleisesti eläinklinikoilla käytössä oleva Uriselect 4. Tavoitteena oli, että jos vertailtavien menetelmien tulokset ovat yhtenevät, Triolab voisi suositella Flexicult Vet -maljaa eläinklinikoille korvaamaan nykyisin käytössä olevan menetelmän. Flexicult Vet -maljalla voidaan määrittää bakteerien määrä, alustava tunnistus ja ennuste antibioottiherkkyydestä yhdellä viljelykerralla, jolloin tulokset ovat käytettävissä vuorokauden kuluessa. Kummatkin vertailtavat maljat ovat kromogeenisia, joten bakteeripesäkkeet värjäytyvät eri värein, mikä helpottaa bakteerien silmämääräistä tunnistusta. Näytteitä viljeltiin yhteensä 43, joista 13 oli koirien ja kissojen virtsanäytteitä ja 30 koululta saatuja ATCC -bakteerikantoja ja niiden laimennoksia. Molemmille maljoille tehtiin bakteeriviljelyt ja Uriselect 4 -maljan bakteereille tehtiin lisäksi antibioottiherkkyysmääritykset yleisesti käytössä olevalla kiekkomenetelmällä Mueller-Hinton -maljalle. Tutkimuksen perusteella pesäkemorfologiassa ja kasvun määrässä ei ollut havaittavissa suurempia eroja maljojen välillä. Värireaktiot olivat selkeitä ja toimivat suurimmaksi osaksi valmistajan lupaamalla tavalla. Antibioottiherkkyyksien tulokset vastasivat toisiaan, lukuun ottamatta yhtä poikkeamaa E. colin herkkyydessä amoksisilliini/klavulaanihapolle. Flexicult Vet -malja on helppokäyttöinen käsittelyaikaa säästävä ratkaisu, joka voisi nopeuttaa herkkyysmäärityksiin perustuvaa antibioottihoitoa ja näin ollen korvata perinteisen virtsaviljelymenetelmän eläinklinikoilla rutiinidiagnostiikassa. Luotettavamman tutkimustuloksen saaminen edellyttäisi kuitenkin suurempaa näytemäärää, joka koostuisi kokonaan koirien ja kissojen virtsanäytteistä.Urinary tract infection is a common cause to prescribe antimicrobial medicine for dogs and cats. Urine culturing is used to diagnose urine tract infection, identify the bacterium and to test antimicrobial susceptibility to find the right antibiotics. According to international guidelines the antibiotic treatment for pets suspected urinary tract infections should be based on culturing and susceptibility testing. However, the most common diagnostic culture requires at least two days before the treatment can be started based on susceptibility results. The subject of this study was assigned by Triolab Oy. The purpose of the study was to compare the functioning of the new Flexicult® Vet canine and feline urinary culture tests with traditional culturing and susceptibility tests. The reference plate was Uriselect 4, which is commonly used in veterinary practice. The purpose was to visually compare the results between Flexicult Vet and Uriselect 4 and find out if both have the same results. If the results were congruent, Flexicult Vet can be recommended to replace the existing culture in veterinary practice. Flexicult Vet allows enumeration of bacteria in urine, presumptive identification and prediction of antimicrobial susceptibility with one culturing, so the results are obtainable within 24 hours. Both plates are chromogenic which means that bacteria colonies will appear in different colours, which helps visually identify the bacteria. There was a total of 43 samples of which 13 were canine and feline urine samples and 30 were bacterial ATCC strains and dilutions of them. Bacterial culture was done on both plates. In addition, antimicrobial susceptibility test was made from Uriselect to Mueller-Hinton agar using a disc diffusion. According to the results, there were no significant differences between the plates when comparing colony morphology and bacterial growth. The colour reactions were clear and mostly appeared as promised by the manufacturer. The antimicrobial susceptibility results were same with both plates, except for one false E. coli susceptibility for amoxillin/clavulanate. Flexicult Vet is easy to use, it could reduce processing time of samples and expedite the starting of susceptibility based antibiotic treatment. Hence Flexicult Vet could replace Uriselect 4 in veterinary practices in routine diagnostics. However, obtaining more reliable results would require a larger amount of samples that would consist entirely of canine and feline urine samples

    Investigation of the effect of 8-week training applied to children 14-16 years old on motor performance : 14-16 yaş çocuklara uygulanan 8 haftalık antrenmanın motor performans üzerine etkisinin incelenmesi

    The aim of the study is to examine the effect of eight-week-long training in different branches on motor performance for children aged 14-16. A total of 96 volunteers, including 69 people who are engaged in sports in different branches (tennis, volleyball and basketball) and 27 people who are sedentary, using an 8-week training program, 3 days a week, participated in the study. Motor performance development of the participants was determined with the Tennis Condition Test protocol (KTT). Paired Samples t-test was used to determine the difference between the pre-test and post-tests of the data, and the One-Way Analysis of Variance ANOVA test was used to determine the difference between the groups. As a result of this study, it was determined that 8-week branch-specific training applied to children between the ages of 14-16 improved motor performance. In order to increase the motor performance development of children in this age group, it is important to direct them to sports activities in line with their abilities. To apply it is thought that the training plans, which are specific to the branch and of a type that will support basic motor performance development, are important for the development of the basic motor characteristics and motor performance levels of children in the 14-16 age group. ​Extended English summary is in the end of Full Text PDF (TURKISH) file.   Özet Çalışmanın amacı, 14-16 yaş grubu çocuklara uygulanan sekiz haftalık farklı branşlardaki antrenmanların, motor performans üzerine etkisinin  incelenmesidir. Çalışmaya haftada 3 gün olmak üzere, 8 haftalık antrenman programı uygulayan farklı branşlarda (tenis, voleybol ve basketbol ) antrenman yapan 69 kişi ve sedanterlerden oluşan 27 kişi olmak üzere toplam 96 gönüllü katılmıştır. Katılımcıların, motor performans gelişimleri Tenis Kondisyon Test protokolü (KTT) ile belirlenmiştir. Verilerin ön test ile son testleri arasındaki farkı belirlemede Paired Samples t-testi, gruplar arasındaki farkı belirlemede Tek Yönlü Varyans Analizi olan ANOVA testi kullanılmıştır. Yapılan bu çalışma sonucunda, 14-16 yaş grubu çocuklara uygulanan 8 haftalık branşa özgü antrenmanların, motor performansı geliştirdiği belirlenmiştir. Bu yaş grubundaki çocukların, motor performans gelişimlerini artırabilmek için, yetenekleri doğrultusunda sportif faliyetlere yönlendirilmesi önem taşımaktadır. Uygulanacak olan antrenman planlarının, branşa özgü ve temel motor performans gelişimini destekleyecek türde olması 14-16 yaş grubundaki çocukların temel motorik özelliklerinin ve motorik performans düzeylerinin geliştirilmesinde önemli olduğu düşünülmektedir

    OPTIMALISASI PENERANGAN JALAN UMUM DAN DESAIN ULANG PENERANGAN JALAN UMUM BERBASIS DIALUX DAN LOGIKA FUZZY

    ABSTRAK Pencahayaan jalan merupakan salah satu infrastruktur yang sangat penting di perkotaan, salah satu fungsi utamanya adalah demi memberikan kenyamanan bagi pengguna jalan juga sebagai pencegah kejahatan di malam hari. Namun selain memiliki berbagai fungsi, sistem penerangan jalan umum harus sesuai dengan standar dan juga memperhatikan aspek efisiensi energi. Penelitian ini membahas optimasi menggunakan kecerdasan buatan dengan metode logika fuzzy mamdani untuk mendapakan tingkat kemerataan yang sesuai standar, dengan variabel masukan seperti lebar jalan, tinggi tiang, daya lampu dan pemasangan jarak antar tiang. Kemudian hasil dari logika fuzzy mamdani dijadikan sebagai dasar masukan perancangan ulang menggunakan DIALux dan beberapa masukan tambahan sesuai kriteria standar yang ada di dalam perangkat lunak DIALux. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan baik tingkat kemerataan ataupun aspek lainya sudah memenuhi standar dan juga memiliki penghematan energi hingga 58,6% dari kondisi eksisting, penelitian ini diharapkan bisa menjadi rekomendasi dalam perancangan penerangan jalan. Kata kunci: Lampu jalan, logika fuzzy mamdani, DIALux, efisiensi energi.   ABSTRACT Road lighting is one of the most important infrastructures in an urban area, one of its main functions is to provide comfort for road users as well as crime prevention at night. But besides having various functions, public street lighting systems must comply with standards and also pay attention to aspects of energy efficiency. This study discusses optimizations using artificial intelligence with civil fuzzy logic methods to obtain a level of evenness that is in accordance with the standard, with input variables such as road width, pole height, lamp power and mounting distance between poles. Then the results of the Mamdani fuzzy logic are used as the basis for re-design input using DIALux and some additional input according to the standard criteria contained in the DIALux software. The results of this study indicate that both the level of evenness and other aspects have met the standard and also has an energy savings of up to 58.6% of the existing conditions, this research is expected to be a recommendation in the design of the road installation.     Konsep Diri Pengguna Media Sosial TikTok pada Mahasiswa Pendidikan Sosiologi

    Aplikasi TikTok berkembang secara luas dengan ditandai banyak pengguna media sosial TikTok di berbagai kalangan usia. Aplikasi TikTok dimanfaatkan oleh setiap pengguna sebagai hiburan dan kepuasan jati diri dari hasil pujian, tanggapan dan pengakuan khalayak masyarakat. Penggunaan media sosial TikTok memusatkan pada penggunanya dimana pengguna bebas mengekspresikan diri. Hal ini menarik untuk dikaji apa yang membentuk konsep diri pada penggunanya yaitu khusus kalangan mahasiswa/i Pendidikan Sosiologi di Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui bagaimana individu menyesuaikan konsep diri berdasarkan konstruksi yang berlaku di masyarakat dan melihat bagaimana media sosial TikTok memengaruhi konsep diri individu. Teknik penelitian menggunakan desain fenomenologi serta teknik pengumpulan data dengan cara observasi dan wawancara mendalam. Teknik pemilihan informan menggunakan teknik purposive. Hasil penelitian didapatkan terdapat pengembangan konsep diri atas tindakan, pikiran (mind), diri (self), dan masyarakat (society) mahasiswa/i dalam penggunaan media sosial TikTok melalui proses adaptasi dan imitasi. Sehingga pembentukkan identitas diri menghasilkan produk (konten video TiKTok) sebagai terwujudnya refleksi atas diri mahasiwa/i dan refleksi masyarakat terhadap diri mahasiswa/i Pendidikan Sosiologi.     The Effect of Motor Performance on Sportive Performance of Children in Different Sports Branches

    The aim of the study is to investigate the relationship between motor performances of children aged 10-14 years and ball striking speeds made by specific technique and to determine motor performance differences between the branches. A total of 64 children (football = 22, volleyball = 19, tennis = 23) aged 10-14 years participated in the study. The motor performances of the children participating in the study were determined with the Dordel Koch Test and the ball hitting velocities with the radar instrument. The Spearman correlation analysis was used to determine the relationship between ball hitting velocities and motor performance, and the Kruskal-Wallis test was used to determine the difference between the engine performances of the branches. According to the results obtained, there was a positive correlation between the DKTstanding long jump performance of the soccer players and the shooting speeds, between the volleyball players' DKTshuttle and DKTpush-up performances and the service speeds, between the DKTshuttle and DKTpush-up performances of the tennis players and service and forehand strokes p<0.01. It was determined that soccer players had higher performance than both tennis players and volleyball players in the DKTpush-up test, while football players in DKTbalance test had lower performance than both tennis players and volleyball players p <0.05. As a result, it has been found that motor performances differ according to the children’s branches. In addition, it is considered that the requirements of the sports branch (active use of the lower extremity, volleyball and upper extremity in the football) are effective on motor performance
