Psychedelic Assisted Psychotherapy: Equity Through Contextual Frameworks
Psychedelic assisted psychotherapy (PAP) is a psychotherapeutic modality in which the non-ordinary states of consciousness that result from the consumption of psychedelic medicines are utilized to facilitate therapeutic healing. A wide range of cultures have used a variety of these psychotropic substances as medicines since ancient times, and there has been a resurgence of interest in their beneficial properties across many disciplines including psychology. Given that there are extra dimensions of vulnerability in using these medicines therapeutically, increased attention needs to be given to diversity, equity, and inclusion across psychedelic research and clinical practices. This paper focuses on how internal and external non-drug factors (set and setting) as well as systemic factors, are potential avenues to both increase the potential benefits and reduce the potential harms of PAP. Beginning with a literature review of PAP, cultural humility, liberation psychology, and culturally responsive behaviorism, I set the foundation for how these contextual frameworks can be integrated with PAP. Ultimately, I highlight how this novel combination of approaches can engender greater equity in PAP for diverse populations
CALCAREOUS NANNOFOSSIL BIOSTRATIGRAPHY AND PALEOECOLOGY OF THE FORT HAYS LIMESTONE OF WESTERN KANSAS, WESTERN INTERIOR BASIN (WIB)
Investigations of Upper Cretaceous hemi-pelagic sediments from the Western Interior Basin suggest that high surface water fertility caused increased production of biogenic carbonate, resulting in the deposition of limestone. We examined calcareous nannofossils from the Turonian/Coniacian Fort Hays Member of the Niobrara Formation to evaluate the correlation between nannofossil surface water fertility proxies and associated lithology. Our paleoecology results indicate that oligotrophic surface water conditions were present during limestone deposition. This stands at odds with existing depositional models for the Western Interior Seaway (WIS). Paleoecological data within the interbedded marls was artificially skewed due to the prevalence of etching caused by diagenetic overprinting. This occurred during burial and caused the remobilization of calcite from marls into the adjacent limestones, resulting in δ18O excursions within the marls. The first occurrence datum FAD of the species Micula cubiformis is proposed as a proximal nannofossil substitute for the FAD of the inoceramid biomarker Cremnoceramid deformis erectus throughout the Western Interior Basin (WIB).

The life experiences of women ex-offenders of domestic violence
The purpose of this study was to examine the life experiences of women ex-offenders in treatment programs for domestic violence. This study provided this population the opportunity to tell their stories, their perspectives about domestic violence, their concerns, and their perceived needs, if any. The study aimed to understand women\u27s subjective experiences with domestic violence, the various forms it took, and the content to which it was expressed. Overall, the findings from this study indicated that women did not perceive mutual violence as symmetrical; the violence perpetrated by the participants towards their spouse or partner was less severe than the violence they received. Six participants were recruited from among female graduates of New Day Institute facility located in the city of Chino, California
The Search to Find a Dream
Finding a dream is something that cannot be done with ease. For Santana Hermosillo, deciding on a dream career is something that took a while. The author was given a goal he never truly enjoyed but strove toward in an effort to make his parents happy and proud. Through interactions with certain classes and teachers, he found a way to more freely express his inner thoughts. Now his journey only involves his happiness and what he feels is right. Everyone’s goals may be different, but we all have to decide whether to reach for goals that were placed on us or ones we truly desire. In writing this narrative, the author hopes to help those who may feel their dreams are off path realize that they are not alone
Plant Uptake of Desorption Resistant Organic Chemicals From Sediments.
Two types of wetland plants, a woody species, black willow ( Salix nigra), and a non-woody, the macrophyte three-square bulrush (Scirpus olneyi), were used in laboratory studies to evaluate relationships between sorption, plant uptake, translocation and transpiration of phenanthrene, a model polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon and chlorobenzene, a model chlorinated benzene from the reversible and desorption-resistant compartment of a sediment for Phenanthrene (PHEN) and a wetland soil for chlorobenzene (CB). The wetland soil is from The Petro Processors Inc. site (PPI), a 77-acre CERCLA facility located about 10 miles north of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Other studies have evaluated the plant uptake of non-ionic organics from hydroponic systems, however, little information exists for plant uptake of aged desorption-resistant contaminants in sediments. Structure activity relationships for non-ionic organics suggest that plant uptake is only effective for compounds with log Kow\u27s from 0.5 to approximately 4, below the log Kow of 4.4 reported for PHEN. The objective of the study was to determine the potential for plant uptake of PHEN and CB. Three treatments were utilized for studies: (1) sediment with PHEN and CB aged and resistant to desorption, (2) PHEN and CB in a sand-water matrix, presumed to be fully bioavailable and (3) sediment with freshly contaminated PHEN and CB. Wetland plants were exposed to these treatments using 14C-labeled chemicals as tracers. The 14C-chemical in the plant was converted to 14CO 2 using a biological oxidizer and the radioactivity was determined with scintillation counting. The laboratory results were compared against those produced by a mathematical model to predict plant uptake taking into account sorption hysteresis which has not been considered in all previous plant uptake models. Uptake is primarily in the root and stem tissue in the sediment, and is consistent with a repartitioning from sediment to plant tissue via a simple sorption reaction. Clean, fresh wetland plant tissue represents an effective sorption phase. Results were confirmed by measuring root-water partition coefficients and computing the potential uptake based on simple partitioning
