    Light Meson Physics from Charm Decays at Fermilab E791

    Full text link
    We present recent results on light mesons based on Dalitz plot analyses of charm decays from Fermilab experiment E791. Scalar mesons are found to have large contributions to the decays studied, D+Kπ+π+D^+\to K^-\pi^+\pi^+ and D+,Ds+ππ+π+D^+, D_s^+\to\pi^-\pi^+\pi^+. From the KππK\pi\pi final state, we find good evidence for the existence of the light and broad κ\kappa meson and we measure its mass and width. We also discuss recently published results on the 3π\pi final states, especially the measurement of the f0f_0 parameters and the evidence for the σ\sigma meson from D+σπ+D^+\to\sigma\pi^+. These results demonstrate the importance of charm decays as a new environment for the study of light meson physics.Comment: 10 Pages. Plenary talk given at HADRON 2001, Protvino, Russia, August 2001. This paper is an examination of the dual of the fundamental isomorphism relating homomorphism groups involving direct sums and direct products over arbitrary index sets. We prove that for every cardinal μ, with μ ℵ0 = μ, there exists a non-slender self-slender self-small group of cardinality μ+

    Patients are one indicator of the quality of services we provide and patient satisfaction is a capital to get more patients and to get loyal patients (faithful). Loyal patients will reuse the same health services if they need it again. Even loyal patients will invite others to use the same health service facility. The purpose of this study is to describe the level of patient satisfaction. This type of research uses a descriptive method with concurrent data collection. The data collected is in the form of result data (observations and questionnaires). Concurrent data is primary data obtained during direct observation and questionnaires during the research. This research was conducted from the second week of December 2020 until the end of February 2021. The data obtained is based on the answers from respondents to the questionnaire that has been tested for validity and reliability and then distributed. Furthermore, processed and analyzed and seen the percentage level of patient satisfaction which is presented in tabular form. Based on the data obtained from the respondents' answers, it can be concluded that the description of the level of patient satisfaction in the pharmacy installation of ZUS Hospital North Gorontalo is in the good category, with an average percentage of 81%. The criterion aspect of the question that received the most positive response from the respondents was that the service procedures at IFRSUD ZUS Gorontalo Utara were fast and did not bother the patient? (94%) and on the aspect of the criteria the question is that whether the officers are fair in providing services? (63%). Things that need to be done to improve aspects of questions that are still in the sufficient category are by improving the pharmaceutical service process as a whole, conducting supervision and awareness for all parties

    Systematics of Large Axial Vector Meson Production in Heavy Flavor Weak Decays

    Branching ratios observed for DD and B decays to final states a1(1260)±Xa_1(1260)^{\pm} X are comparable to those for corresponding decays to π±X\pi^{\pm} X and ρ±X\rho^{\pm} X and much larger than those for all other decays. Implications are discussed of a "vector-dominance model" in which a WW is produced and immediately turns into an axial vector, vector or pseudoscalar meson. Data for decays to all such final states are shown to have large branching ratios and satisfy universality relations. Upper limits on small strong phase differences between amplitudes relevant to CP violation models are obtained from analysis of the predicted and observed suppression of BoB^o decays into neutral final states πoXo\pi^o X^o, ρoXo\rho^oX^o and a1oXoa_1^o X^o. . Branching ratios of 1\approx 1% are predicted for the as yet unobserved presence of the Ds1(2536)D_{s1}(2536) charmed-strange axial vector in B decays.Comment: 14 page

    The scalar kappa from D+ -> K- pi+ pi+: Further Studies

    Full text link
    We briefly review the recent results obtained by Fermilab experiment E791 on the Dalitz plot analysis of the decay D+ -> K- pi+ pi+, where indication for a light Kpi scalar resonance, the kappa, was found. We also present preliminary studies providing further information on the phase behavior of the scalar components at low mass, supporting the previous indication for the kappa.Comment: Invited talk given at the "Workshop on Scalar Mesons: An Interesting Puzzle for QCD", SUNY Institute of Technology, Utica NY, May 2003. 10 pages. Sediment Grain Size and Organic Matter as Indicators for Benthic Meiofauna Community Composition and Distribution in Mission Bay, San Diego

    As a prime source of revenue for the tourist industry in San Diego, Mission Bay is a crucial part of the city?s economy. Therefore, it is important to understand how certain factors, both natural and anthropogenic, could alter the ecological health of the bay for both marine organisms and humans. As an extension of an ongoing project studying the benthic composition of Mission Bay, my project focused on how benthic meiofaunal communities vary in abundance and diversity spatially throughout the bay in response to abiotic factors such as organic matter and grain size. Using sediment samples dyed with Rose Bengal, I quantified and identified taxa of meiofauna from 14 sites. I used the Shannon-Weiner and Simpson?s indices to quantify species richness and evenness for each site. Results indicate that grain size is a greater driving force than organic matter for species richness. Sites composed of 75% or more sand showed richness values less than 0.3, while sites composed of 30% or less sand had values greater than 0.9. Furthermore, any change in abiotic factors affecting grain size, like water flow and dredging, changes the patterns of distribution and abundance. Therefore, contrary to the broader scientific perspective, geography of Mission Bay does not seem to be the driving factor of the benthic composition. Instead, grain size seems to have the greatest effect on the diversity of these estuarine communities, although further analysis is necessary to fully understand the natural and anthropogenic factors that contribute to varying grain size across Mission Bay
