Knowledge sharing framework for Sustainable Value Planning in Malaysian public construction projects / Faudzi Muhammad
Malaysia is pursuing the status of a high-income nation by the year 2020. In tight economic conditions, the government has to improve the value of public spending through increasing its sustainability with the lowest possible investment. Although construction projects contribute to the country’s economic growth and fulfil social needs, they also contribute to environmental deterioration. Besides that, construction projects in Malaysia are criticised for low productivity and failure to achieve client satisfaction. Due to these reasons, the government has introduced the Green Growth concept to promote sustainable development for public projects and Value Management (VM) to improve the projects’ value for money. Value Planning (VP) is the front end of VM, conducted during the early project planning stage. Due to various advantages of integrating sustainability considerations during the early stages, VP is the best platform to achieve value for money and project sustainability at the same time. Sustainable Value Planning (SVP) is a concept that integrates both value for money and sustainability targets in a single mechanism. Effective knowledge sharing is the key driver for SVP. Despite the recognition of the importance of effective knowledge sharing within VP, its contribution in nurturing sustainability integration into the practice remains unclear. Thus, this study is conducted with the aim of developing the Knowledge Sharing Framework For Sustainable Value Planning. This framework explains the constructs involved and their relationships during the SVP in the context of knowledge sharing for Malaysian public construction projects. This study was conducted based on the philosophy of pragmatism and adopted the abductive approach
Two Dimensional Plane, Modified Symplectic Structure and Quantization
Noncommutative quantum mechanics on the plane has been widely studied in the
literature. Here, we consider the problem using Isham's canonical group
quantization scheme for which the primary object is the symmetry group that
underlies the phase space. The noncommutativity of the configuration space
coordinates requires us to introduce the noncommutative term in the symplectic
structure of the system. This modified symplectic structure will modify the
group acting on the configuration space from abelian to a
nonabelian one. As a result, the canonical group obtained is a deformed
Heisenberg group and the canonical commutation relation (CCR) corresponds to
what is usually found in noncommutative quantum mechanics.Comment: 5 pages. Submitted to Jurnal Fizik Malaysi
Strategic planning practices, entrepreneurial orientation, environmental uncertainty and internationalization of small and medium enterprises
The understanding on factors contributing to internationalization of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Malaysia is still lacking, and that the SME contribution to the country’s export is still small compared to those neighbouring countries and most of the developed countries. Therefore, the objective of this study is to empirically test the relationships between strategic planning practices, entrepreneurial orientation, and environmental uncertainty on the internationalization of SME’s in Malaysia. This study emanated from the fact that there is limited study in this area and more research should be conducted especially in the context of Malaysia. Based on the theoretical consideration a model was proposed and hypotheses were developed. Survey questionnaires were used in the data collection and a total of 250 useable responses were received from the exporting SMEs in Malaysia. Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Model (PLS-SEM) was employed in the data analysis. The findings revealed that strategic planning practices and entrepreneurial orientation have significant and positive relationships with the internationalization of SMEs. The results further found the moderating role of environmental uncertainty in the relationships between strategic planning practices and internationalization as well as between entrepreneurial orientation and internationalization of SMEs. These findings also support the resource based view which emphasizes the importance of internal capability of a firm as an influenced driver in achieving export performance and competitive advantage. Thus this study sheds some light on an understanding and evaluation of the relationship between strategic planning practices, entrepreneurial orientation and environmental uncertainty on the internationalization of SMEs in Malaysia. Finally, the study concludes with some theoretical and practical implications as well as the limitations and directions for future researc

Valuation of Fatal and Non-Fatal Injuries Due to Motorcycle Accidents in Malaysia
Policy makers often struggle with the question of what is the appropriate monetary
value to be associated with reduced fatalities. As a result, a disproportionate number
of road safety projects were abandoned in favor of other types of projects as they all
conlpetc for a limited amount of public funds. This is the motivation for carrying out
this research the main objective of which is to evaluate of the value of statistical life
(VOSL) of fatal and non-fatal injuries among motorcyclists in Malaysia in an attempt
to overcome the lack of reliable estimates of accident.
The study utilizes extensively two surveys namely the valuation survey amongst
motorcyclists covering 6 constituents within the Seremban Municipality in the state
of Negeri Sembilan and the epidemiology survey of hospitalized non-fatal injuries
amongst injured motorcyclists at Seremban Hospital to develop the Injury Scale
Descriptor. Apart from using descriptive statistics, the inferential statistics have been
utilised to test the reliability and stability on the estimated values. Results from the valuation survey passed all the criteria of the construct validity
especially the critical scope test. Multiple regression analyses showed statistically
significant relationships between WTP and vital variables of income, age, accident
experience and riding purpose. A unique variable of race was also found to be
significantly related to WTP.
Upon control for the effect of inter-country variation in income, the mean values of
statistical life (VOSL) have been found to be approximately RM1.1 million and
RM77,000 per non-fatal injury. After considering GDP growth, the suggested
estimate to reflect the benefits 'of road safety in public policy analysis for year 2004
is RM1.3 million and RM92,400 for fatal and non-fatal injury respectively
This study recommends the need for further research on other cost elements to
complement the human cost in the effort to establish the comprehensive road
accident costs. Other valuation methods should also be conducted in similar
valuation studies to fortify the present human cost estimates. Finally, after the
successful estimate of intangible benefits (human cost) of road safety, it is strongly
recommended that research on other infrastructure investment benefits be
undertaken. Only then, can proper Cost Benefit Analysis method become the
instrument in evaluating Suture investments of transport infrastructures
The impact of social media usage and addiction among student / Siti Maheran Mohd Faudzi
The social network, which is one of the key indicators of the technology era, attracts all levels while virtual worlds over real life through the applications it offers. Especially young people show high interest in social media that is an extension of Internet technology. Social media addiction is increasing worldwide. This study aims to examines impact of academic performance in social media addiction among social student. Based on data obtained by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC, 2016), shows that Malaysia’s broadband penetration rate reaches almost 78 percent. The study also found that those who are still in school spend the most time online, which is 20.9 hours a week. This this study. The two theories, the diffusion of innovations theory and the process virtualization theory posited that impact social media usage and addiction towards academic performance in student university

become more effective
Factors that cause non-performing loan in microfinance at Bank Simpanan Nasional Kelantan / Nik Zatil Aqmar Nik Faudzi
Danny Yap (2010) reported that, the non-performing loans ratio (NPLs) in Malaysia is expected to come under pressure this year (2011) as the country faces a more challenging global and domestic environment. Thus, this research was conducted to study the factors that cause to non-performing loan (NPL) in Microfinance at Bank Simpanan Nasional Kelantan. The objective of this research is to determine the factors that cause non-performing loan (NPL) and the relationship between the independent variables (the unpredictable crises among borrowers, the operation management, the analysis on credit scoring and the attitude of borrowers) and dependent variable (Non-Performing Loan). The researcher has distributed the questionnaire to the staff at Bank Simpanan Nasional Kelantan especially who have been involved in Micro Finance/ Micro Credit. The Pearson Analysis is used to measure the strength of the association between two variables. The result indicate that the strength of association between IV1 (r = 0.934) and IV4 (r = 0.948) are very high and very strong and that the correlation coefficient are very highly significantly different from zero (p<0.01). Hence, the result above has answered the objective of the research. Several actions will be taken by the bank onto NPL borrowers either do litigation; LOD, NOT, Summon, or Judgment. The NPL borrowers also suggested to do reschedule and refinancing (R&R), Workout Proposal, Capitalize, or Write-off to lighten the NPL borrower’s burde
