The questionnaire was the instrument used for data collection. The reliability estimate of the instrument was established through the Cronbach Alpha reliability method. Independent t-test analysis was employed to test the hypothesis under study. The hypothesis was tested at .05 level of significance. The result of the analysis revealed that, there is a significant difference in the physical variablesof secondary school students who participate and those who do not participate in sports. Based on the findings of the study, it was recommended that students should endeavour to take home the crusade of sports participation to further foster their interpersonal relationship with others around their neighbourhood and community and again, the physical education teachers who are the custodians of sports in these schools, should make sure that every student takes active part in sports during training sessions

SIMPBOARD –A MONGODB IMPLEMENTATION OF A SIMPLIFIED ONLINE BULLETIN BOARD SYSTEM FOR INFORMATION DISSEMINATION IN TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS

    Get PDF
Information dissemination is a key concern for most tertiary institutions. While information is relevant for the day-to-day running of a tertiary institution, the rightful information, sometimes, is not available for the appropriate decisions to be taken.  The practice, in some institutions, is the use of wooden notice boards for making information available to the academic community.   In many cases, such means of information broadcasting has been found to be inefficient, and largely a component of physical presence.  However, electronic presence is becoming more and more acceptable for spreading information. To this effect, this paper will discuss the design and implementation of a simplified online bulletin board system called SIMPBOARD that can be accessed through the web browser of a computer or smart phone. Furthermore, the system will allow for anywhere access to bulletins, and possible archiving of same, for reference purposes, through the use of Mongo DB with Meteor JS Framework.  http://dx.doi.org/10.4314/njt.v36i3.3

The application of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in the health sector is increasingly changing today’s health care. A communication agent for a multi-agent system-based virtual personal assistant is an attempt towards improving health care service delivery. We have developed a Multi Agent System and user interface for management of diabetes patients where the patients and medical specialist can interact easily without necessarily visiting the clinic. The application will enable the users to have regular interactions with each other, reduce the cost of going to the clinic, saves patients and medical personnel time. In order to design the application and user interface, we adopted a user centered approach and conducted interviews with the potential users. We also reviewed existing materials for data. Qualitative and quantitative data were collected during the development process. The application and user interface were evaluated by the potential users (patients and medical personnel). The user evaluation of the system shows that the participants were pleased with the application and the user interface. They interacted with the user interface with ease and they encountered little or no difficulty. Keywords: multi-agent, e-health, virtual personal assistant, information and communication technolog

Exercise: A Therapy for Physical and Mental Fitness of School Children

    Get PDF
The enhancement and maintenance of physical and mental fitness of the pupils in school is one of the cordial objectives of every good education system. Physical fitness does not only imply the absence of diseases or deformities, but the ability of the pupils to undertake their studies efficiently and effectively each day without undue fatigue imposed by any of the systems of the body and to have reserve energy for other activities at home. Physical and mental fitness cannot be developed and maintained mainly by reading them in books. They are attained through participation in regular graded physical exercises outside the classroom in the open air. This was the primary preoccupation of the classroom teachers in the forties and fifties. Today the story is different. Teachers do no longer pay attention to the development and maintenance of physical and mental fitness of the children. Consequently, the physical and mental fitness of the pupils has dropped tremendously and school administrators are virtually powerless to do anything about it
