A First Stochastic General Framework to Model the Project Finance Cash Flows under Monopolistic Situations

    Get PDF
The main aim of this work is to model the cash flows and cost dynamics for a Project Finance. Large scale capital-intensive projects usually require substantial investments up front and only generate revenues to cover their costs in the long term. The abandonment flexibility affects each project independently. This is the only one that we consider in this study and it is quite different from the idea to abandon due to a common (specific) catastrophic event. This option is exercised under those situations of expected costs to completion higher than the expected cash flow, that is, during the investment period in the development phase. Including this flexibility in project finance is the same as valuing a project with an implicit American put option.Project Finance, Cash Flows, Stochastic, Real Options

Further than the need to have an impact in the STEM education field in an innovative way, however, there is not enough agreement among STEM education researchers, teachers, educators and/or designers. As a consequence, there are a lot of different ways to conceive both what to do and how to do it in STEM education. Our standing point in this paper is to signal the need to agree on the purpose to enrol in the demanding STEM educational approach before discussing the what’s and how’s of STEM education. To do so, we start by sharing a first initial attempt to define STEM literacy for all, in which the specific and highorder transversal competences and values of STEM education are more emphasised than technological, aesthetic or interdisciplinary aspects which are, on the other hand, quite common in STEM education activities.L’educació STEM és una proposta emergent sobre la que se’n parla molt darrerament.

    Mapuche People and Criminal Law

    Get PDF
This article proposes to analyze the relative deficit in Chilean criminal legal doctrine and practice to justly address determined manifestations of conflict and/or violence perpetrated by individuals and groups belonging to the Mapuche indigenous people. That deficit is especially apparent in the framework of the progressive development of principles and norms of international human rights law applicable to indigenous peoples and ethnic minorities. Those principles and norms have special binding force since Chile ratified Convention 169 of the ILO, which impelled a revision of the various branches of our judicial system, as well as criminal law, to examine their consistency with the standards. The deficit of our criminal norms and practices became apparent when compared with these principles and norms, along with significant perspectives for overcoming this situation

Gastrointestinal helminths in brown trout (Salmo trutta Linnaeus, 1758) captured in Galician rivers (NW Spain)

Specimens of Salmo trutta (n = 613) captured by local anglers in different rivers in Galicia (NW Spain) during the 2015 fishing season (15 March–15 August) were examined. In total 1479 adult helminths were recovered from the gastrointestinal tracts of 221 fish. Moreover, the microscopic observation of the sediments obtained, previous diphasic concentration, revealed the presence of helminth eggs in 485 trout specimens. The following species were identified by morphological and molecular analysis: Crepidostomum metoecus (8.97%) (Trematoda); Salmonema ephemeridarum (16.97%), Raphidascaris acus (9.46%) and Pseudocapillaria sp. (2.12%) (Nematoda); and Echinorhynchus truttae (8.48%) (Acanthocephala). The prevalence, mean intensity and mean abundance of each helminth species were determined in relation to size/age of the fish. The helminth infracommunity comprised a maximum of four species and the species richness was S = 5. The biological cycles of most of the helminth species recovered are dependent on benthic macroinvertebrate fauna, which, in turn, is influenced by the water quality. Therefore, any changes that take place in the aquatic ecosystem (due to anthropogenic activities or climate change) may be reflected in the helminth compositionSC-P is granted by the Programme for the requalification, international mobility and attraction of talent in the Spanish university system, modality Margarita Salas.
