Resonant production of the fourth family slepton at the LHC
The resonant production of the fourth family slepton ~l_4 via R-parity
violating interactions of supersymmetry at the Large Hadron Collider has been
investigated. We study the decay mode of ~l_4 into the fourth family neutrino
nu_4 and W boson. The signal will be a like-sign dimuon and dijet if the fourth
family neutrino has Majorana nature. We discuss the constraints on the R-parity
violating couplings lambda and lambda' of the fourth family charged slepton at
the LHC with the center of mass energies of 7, 10 and 14 TeV.Comment: 8 pages, 4 figures, 4 table
Search for R-Parity Violating Supersymmetry at the CMS Experiment
The latest results from CMS on R-Parity violating Supersymmetry based on the
19.5/fb full dataset from the 8 TeV LHC run of 2012 are reviewed. The results
are interpreted in the context of simplified models with multilepton and
b-quark jets signatures that have low missing transverse energy arising from
light top-squark pair with R-parity-violating decays of the lightest
supersymmetric particle. In addition to simplified model, a new approach for
phenomenological MSSM interpretation is shown which demonstrates that the
obtained results from multilepton final states are valid for a wide range of
supersymmetry models.Comment: 6 pages, 10 figures, EPS-2013 July 17-24, Stockholm, Swede
Prospects of New Physics searches using High Lumi - LHC
After the observation of a Higgs boson near 125 GeV, the high energy physics
community is investigating possible next steps for entering into a new era in
particle physics. It is planned that the Large Hadron Collider will deliver an
integrated luminosity of up to 3000/fb for the CMS and ATLAS experiments,
requiring several upgrades for all detectors. The reach of various
representative searches for supersymmetry and exotica physics with the upgraded
detectors are discussed in this context, where a very high instantaneous
luminosity will lead to a large number of pileup events in each bunch crossing.
This note presents example benchmark studies for new physics prospects with the
upgraded ATLAS and CMS detectors at a centre-of-mass energy of 14 TeV. Results
are shown for an integrated luminosity of 300/fb and 3000/fb.Comment: Plenary talk presented at Next Steps in the Energy Frontier - Hadron

Emitter Location Finding using Particle Swarm Optimization
Using several spatially separated receivers, nowadays positioning techniques, which are implemented to determine the location of the transmitter, are often required for several important disciplines such as military, security, medical, and commercial applications. In this study, localization is carried out by particle swarm optimization using time difference of arrival. In order to increase the positioning accuracy, time difference of arrival averaging based two new methods are proposed. Results are compared with classical algorithms and Cramer-Rao lower bound which is the theoretical limit of the estimation error
Anomalous resonant production of the fourth family up type quarks at the LHC
Considering the present limits on the masses of fourth family quarks from the
Tevatron experiments, the fourth family quarks are expected to have mass larger
than the top quark. Due to their expected large mass they could have different
dynamics than the quarks of three families of the Standard Model. The resonant
production of the fourth family up type quark t' has been studied via anomalous
production subprocess gq_i-->t' (where q_i=u,c) at the LHC with the center of
mass energy 10 TeV and 14 TeV. The signatures of such process are discussed
within the SM decay modes. The sensitivity to anomalous coupling
\kappa/\Lambda=0.1 TeV^(-1) can be reached at \sqrt{s}=10 TeV and L_int=100
pb^(-1).Comment: 14 pages, 13 figures, 7 table
Probing Charged Higgs Boson Couplings at the FCC-hh Collider
Many of the new physics models predicts a light Higgs boson similar to the
Higgs boson of the Standard Model (SM) and also extra scalar bosons. Beyond the
search channels for a SM Higgs boson, the future collider experiments will
explore additional channels that are specific to extended Higgs sectors. We
study the charged Higgs boson production within the framework of two Higgs
doublet models (THDM) in the proton-proton collisions at the FCC-hh collider.
With an integrated luminosity of 500 fb at very high energy frontier, we
obtain a significant coverage of the parameter space and distinguish the
charged Higgs-top-bottom interaction within the THDM or other new physics
models with charged Higgs boson mass up to 1 TeV.Comment: 22 pages, 26 figures, 6 table
"European Union: a civil or a political power in the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership?" In EURO-MED INTEGRATION AND THE 'RING OF FRIENDS': THE MEDITERRANEAN'S EUROPEAN CHALLENGE, VOL. IV"
This article claims that within the framework of the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership, the Union mainly assumes the role of civilian power. Sometimes it also has to assume the political power role and becomes influential by using the attraction of full membership. However, in cases like the conflict in the Middle East, where the Union still wants to be influential but the 'membership' instrument cannot work, the Union displays a poor record. In such situations, institutionalisation of the security dimension of the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership may help
Simulation and Efficiency Studies of Optical Photon Transportation and Detection with Plastic Antineutrino Detector Modules
In this work, the simulation of optical photons is carried out in an
antineutrino detector module consisting of a plastic scintillator connected to
light guides and photomultipliers on both ends, which is considered to be used
for remote reactor monitoring in the field of nuclear safety. Using Monte Carlo
(MC) based GEANT4 simulation, numerous parameters influencing the light
collection and thereby the energy resolution of the antineutrino detector
module are studied: e.g., degrees of scintillator surface roughness, reflector
type, and its ap- plying method onto scintillator and light guide surface, the
reflectivity of the reflector, light guide geometries and diameter of the
photocathode. The impact of each parameter is inves- tigated by looking at the
detected spectrum, i.e. the number photoelectrons per depositing energy. In
addition, the average light collection efficiency of the detector module and
its spatial variation are calculated for each simulation setup. According to
the simulation re- sults, it is found that photocathode size, light guide
shape, reflectivity of reflecting material and wrapping method show a
significant impact on the light collection efficiency while scin- tillator
surface polishing level and the choose of reflector type show relatively less
impact. This study demonstrates that these parameters are very important in the
design of plastic scintillator included antineutrino detectors to improve the
energy resolution efficiency
An Applied Study on Educational Use of Facebook as a Web 2.0 Tool: The Sample Lesson of Computer Networks and Communication
The main aim of the research was to examine educational use of Facebook. The
Computer Networks and Communication lesson was taken as the sample and the
attitudes of the students included in the study group towards Facebook were
measured in a semi-experimental setup. The students on Facebook platform were
examined for about three months and they continued their education
interactively in that virtual environment. After the-three-month-education
period, observations for the students were reported and the attitudes of the
students towards Facebook were measured by three different measurement tools.
As a result, the attitudes of the students towards educational use of Facebook
and their views were heterogeneous. When the average values of the group were
examined, it was reported that the attitudes towards educational use of
Facebook was above a moderate level. Therefore, it might be suggested that
social networks in virtual environments provide continuity in life long
learning.Comment: 11 page
