Arithmetic geometry of toric varieties. Metrics, measures and heights

We show that the height of a toric variety with respect to a toric metrized line bundle can be expressed as the integral over a polytope of a certain adelic family of concave functions. To state and prove this result, we study the Arakelov geometry of toric varieties. In particular, we consider models over a discrete valuation ring, metrized line bundles, and their associated measures and heights. We show that these notions can be translated in terms of convex analysis, and are closely related to objects like polyhedral complexes, concave functions, real Monge-Amp\`ere measures, and Legendre-Fenchel duality. We also present a closed formula for the integral over a polytope of a function of one variable composed with a linear form. This allows us to compute the height of toric varieties with respect to some interesting metrics arising from polytopes. We also compute the height of toric projective curves with respect to the Fubini-Study metric, and of some toric bundles.Comment: Revised version, 230 pages, 3 figure

This book shows a wide range of approaches of specialists to analyze the Silk Road, also called OBOR (One Road one belt) or BRI (Belt and Road Initiative). Newly then he joined that plan in Latin America teacher that includes infrastructure investments and financing to redirect trade to world level, becoming the great Project of the century in the perspective of China.Este libro muestra un amplio abanico de enfoques de especialistas para analizar a la Ruta de la Seda, llamada también OBOR (One Road one belt) o BRI (Belt and Road Initiative). La BRI se inició en 2013 con el anuncio del presidente Xi Jinping de una vía terrestre de comercio entre China y Europa, a la que luego se sumó una ruta marítima que une China con el Sur de Asia y con África. Recién después se incorporó a América Latina a ese plan maestro que incluye inversiones en infraestructura y financiamiento para redireccionar el comercio a nivel mundial, convirtiéndose en el gran proyecto del siglo en la perspectiva de China

A WSN-Based intrusion alarm system to improve safety in road work zones

Road traffic accidents are one of the main causes of death and disability worldwide. Workers responsible for maintaining and repairing roadways are especially prone to suffer these events, given their exceptional exposure to traffic. Since these actuations usually coexist with regular traffic, an errant driver can easily intrude the work area and provoke a collision. Some authors have proposed mechanisms aimed at detecting breaches in the work zone perimeter and alerting workers, which are collectively called intrusion alarm systems. However, they have several limitations and have not yet fulfilled the necessities of these scenarios. In this paper, we propose a new intrusion alarm system based on a Wireless Sensor Network (WSN). Our system is comprised of two main elements: vehicle detectors that form a virtual barrier and detect perimeter breaches by means of an ultrasonic beam and individual warning devices that transmit alerts to the workers. All these elements have a wireless communication interface and form a network that covers the whole work area. This network is in charge of transmitting and routing the alarms and coordinates the behavior of the system. We have tested our solution under real conditions with satisfactory results

Quantitative influence on learning in engineering chemistry practice using smartphones

El presente estudio de investigación en didáctica educativa a nivel terciario, se basó en la búsqueda de una alternativa pedagógica innovadora utilizando smartphones en el laboratorio de química, a través de un cuestionario interactivo. El trabajo, con esta tecnología, favoreció la comprensión de los temas mejorando el desempeño de los estudiantes en las pruebas de evaluación escritas, generando un clima competitivo estimulando la integración grupal y la relación docente-alumno. Se observó que la utilización de los smartphones, lograra, en la mayoría de los estudiantes, puntajes comprendidos entre el 60 y 79%, superando el mínimo establecido de aprobación. Por otro lado, los porcentajes de respuestas correctas a las preguntas del cuestionario interactivo, aumentó en relación a la primer instancia de realización del mismo dado el impacto motivacional causado en los estudiantes.The recent research project study on university educational didactic was based on searching of an innovative pedagogical alternative using smartphones at the chemistry laboratory by answering an interactive quiz. Working with this technology, the students are benefited through the lesson understanding, improving the performance on the writing tests. As well as, it caused a working-competitive atmosphere, stimulated by the group dynamic integration and strengthens the teacher-student relationship. The students that used smartphones achieved a mark between 60-79% in the global writing test, leading the established minimum approval. Furthermore, the right answer percentage in the interactive quiz increased in reference at the first application of that, caused by the student motivational impact.Facultad de Informátic

Estimulando la conducción eficiente mediante una App para Android

Hoy en día, se intenta concienciar a la sociedad de que hay que tener una buena conducción para la reducción de la polución. Este tema es uno de los más preocupantes en la sociedad actual, ya que hay ciertas ciudades en las que la contaminación está originando un problema realmente serio. El medio ambiente no podrá hacer nada solo, es el ser humano el que tiene que intentar reducir ese factor. Los seres humanos pueden contribuir reduciendo la velocidad de los vehículos y teniendo una conducción eficiente. Además, cada día hay miles de accidentes en las carreteras, la DGT realiza campañas constantemente para lograr que los usuarios se conciencien de la importancia de conducir de forma segura, de manera que se reduzca la siniestralidad en las carreteras. Estos accidentes se podrían prevenir si los usuarios llevasen una buena conducción y fuesen prudentes al volante. Para intentar ayudar a los usuarios a que lleven ese tipo de conducción, se realizará una aplicación móvil, la cual llamaremos SafeCar. En ella el usuario podrá introducir el coche con el que suele conducir. Tras ello, podrá comenzar a realizar trayectos, los cuales se evaluarán mediante su velocidad. De esta forma, el usuario obtendrá una puntuación para cada trayecto. Después el usuario podrá realizar un análisis de esos trayectos, observando gráficas de los mismos. Además, podrá comparar unos trayectos con otros. De esta manera, el usuario podrá ver su progresión, es decir, cómo ha ido mejorando o empeorando en sus trayectos, pudiendo así valorar su propia conducción de forma que pueda tomar decisiones para los futuros trayectos que realice. Por lo tanto, la aplicación se presenta como un reto para el usuario, de manera que este pueda ayudar no solo al medio ambiente sino también al resto de usuarios de las vías públicas, reduciendo lo máximo posible los accidentes
