Production of carbon nanotubes by PECVD and their applications to supercapacitors

Màster en Nanociència i NanotecnologiaPlasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) is a versatile technique to obtain vertically dense-aligned carbon nanotubes (CNTs) at lower temperatures than chemical vapor deposition (CVD). In this work, we used magnetron sputtering to deposit iron layer as a catalyst on silicon wafers. After that, radio frequency (rf) assisted PECVD reactor was used to grow CNTs. They were treated with water plasma and finally covered by MnO2 as dielectric layer in order to use CNTs as electrode for supercapacitors. Optimization of annealing time, reaction time and temperature, water plasma time and MnO2 deposition time were performed to find appropriate conditions to improve the characteristics of supercapacitors. SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy), TEM (Transmission Electron Microscopy), AFM (Atomic Force Microscopy) and Raman spectroscopy were used to characterize obtained electrodes

One pot domino synthesis of polyvicinalamine monomers

On open books for nonorientable 3-manifolds

We show that the monodromy of Klassen's genus two open book for P2×S1P^2 \times S^1 is the YY-homeomorphism of Lickorish, which is also known as the crosscap slide. Similarly, we show that S2×~S1S^2 \widetilde{\times} S^1 admits a genus two open book whose monodromy is the crosscap transposition. Moreover, we show that each of P2×S1P^2 \times S^1 and S2×~S1S^2 \widetilde{\times} S^1 admits infinitely many isomorphic genus two open books whose monodromies are mutually nonisotopic. Furthermore, we include a simple observation about the stable equivalence classes of open books for P2×S1P^2 \times S^1 and S2×~S1S^2 \widetilde{\times} S^1. Finally, we formulate a version of Gabai's theorem about the Murasugi sum of open books, without imposing any orientability assumption on the pages.Comment: Final version, to appear in Periodica Mathematica Hungaric

Certification of programs with computational effects

In purely functional programming languages imperative features, more generally computational effects are prohibited. However, non-functional lan- guages do involve effects. The theory of decorated logic provides a rigorous for- malism (with a refinement in operation signatures) for proving program properties with respect to computational effects. The aim of this thesis is to first develop Coq libraries and tools for verifying program properties in decorated settings as- sociated with several effects: states, local state, exceptions, non-termination, etc. Then, these tools will be combined to deal with several effects
