Stability and control synthesis for discrete-time linear systems subject to actuator saturation by output feedback
This paper presents sufficient conditions of asymptotic stability
for discrete-time linear systems subject to actuator saturations
with an output feedback law. The derived stability results are
given in terms of LMIs. A new proof is presented to
obtain previous conditions of asymptotic stability. A numerical
example is used to illustrate this technique by using a linear
optimization problem subject to LMI constraints
A general stability criterion for switched linear systems having stable and unstable subsystems
We report conditions on a switching signal that guarantee that solutions of a
switched linear systems converge asymptotically to zero. These conditions are
apply to continuous, discrete-time and hybrid switched linear systems, both
those having stable subsystems and mixtures of stable and unstable subsystems
Approaching the upper limits of the local density of states via optimized metallic cavities
By computational optimization of air-void cavities in metallic substrates, we
show that the local density of states (LDOS) can reach within a factor of
of recent theoretical upper limits, and within a factor for the single-polarization LDOS, demonstrating that the theoretical limits
are nearly attainable. Optimizing the total LDOS results in a spontaneous
symmetry breaking where it is preferable to couple to a specific polarization.
Moreover, simple shapes such as optimized cylinders attain nearly the
performance of complicated many-parameter optima, suggesting that only one or
two key parameters matter in order to approach the theoretical LDOS bounds for
metallic resonators.Comment: 12 pages, 5 figure

LMI Conditions for Robust Stability of 2D Linear Discrete-Time Systems
Robust stability conditions are derived for uncertain 2D linear discrete-time systems, described by Fornasini-Marchesini second models with polytopic uncertainty. Robust stability is guaranteed by the existence of a parameter-dependent Lyapunov function obtained from the feasibility of a set of linear matrix inequalities, formulated at the vertices of the uncertainty polytope. Several examples are presented to illustrate the results
