Unemployment affects individuals socially, personally, and economically. The impact of being jobless can be long-lasting. Five different generations participate in the workplace today. As countries throughout the world went into lockdown to combat the spread of Covid-19, unemployment numbers rose rapidly. This study aimed to examine the effects of unemployment in three-generation groups in V4 and Austria in the pre-Covid-19 era and during Covid-19. Descriptive statistics were used to present the collected data. OECD data were used for the analysis. Based on the data collected, unemployment decreases with age. The group aged 15-24 shows significantly higher unemployment than the other two groups. A gender difference in unemployment was confirmed only in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Unemployment has increased during the Covid-19 pandemic. The unemployment gap for females before and during Covid-19 was not confirmed. The T-Test confirmed the difference in unemployment before and during the crisis in the age categories 15-24 and 25-54. In Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia, the number of people with a duration of employment of up to one year differs in all age categories. In the Czech Republic, there is a significant difference only between the youngest group and the other two. In all countries, the largest number of people with the employment of up to one year is in the age group 25-54. In none of the examined countries was a gender unemployment gap proved before Covid-19

Doc2RDFa: Semantic Annotation for Web Documents

Ever since its conception, the amount of data published on the worldwide web has been rapidly growing to the point where it has become an important source of both general and domain specific information. However, the majority of documents published online are not machine readable by default. Many researchers believe that the answer to this problem is to semantically annotate these documents, and thereby contribute to the linked "Web of Data". Yet, the process of annotating web documents remains an open challenge. While some efforts towards simplifying this process have been made in the recent years, there is still a lack of semantic content creation tools that integrate well with information worker toolsets. Towards this end, we introduce Doc2RDFa, an HTML rich text processor with the ability to automatically and manually annotate domain-specific Content

    Get PDF
The global world is gradually becoming a world of separated crowds despite the artificial wire and wireless connection through television and the Internet. Crowds remain a prevailing subject of research in different social studies, and the research of changes in the psychological structure of crowds and their characteristics is still of primary interest. The main focus of the research is on the interpretation of the results of the research paper about a special separated crowd called audience. It was observed how students, constituting the crowd, perceive a crowd on video. The observation was focused on the research of emotional contagion and mood in the crowd serving as audience. While watching a mass event on a big screen, the crowd serving as audience emotionally converges with someone else, in our case with public speakers

Home-based Telework and the Role of Gender – Results of a Study in Austria

Telework describes a work arrangement in which employees work outside the company premises, but remain in touch with employers and co-workers by using modern ICT. The variety of different opinions on this subject makes it an interesting topic to investigate. Work from home originated in the US in the 1970s. Three decades (Home, Mobile and Virtual Office) and so-called modern ICTs (smartphones, tablets) enable employees to work from anywhere at any time. The aim of this paper is to identify the factors that affect teleworkers’ attitudes while keeping a focus on gender differences. A literature review of previous research was conducted. Sixteen studies show significant results, which suggest that males have more favourable attitudes toward teleworking than females. In reference to our survey results, 41% of Austrian employees worked remotely. The data show that the gender and age stereotypes of Generations X and Y and baby boomers have no effect. Three of four flex workers are men (three-quarters), and women are more likely to work in open space offices or cubicles. Telework is therefore a male-dominated working method. Further, the results indicate that 53% are independent teleworkers, while 3% work in telecentres or telecottages
