AN EMPIRIC STUDY ON THE FUNCTION OF ÞA AND ÞONNE IN THE ORGANIZATION OF DISCOURSE

    Get PDF
The Old English temporal adverbs þa and þonne have been associated traditionally with diverse meanings (e.g. temporal, causative) and functions (main clause introducer, subordinate clause introducer); within the framework of generative studies, they have been associated with the pragmatic function of separating given from new material in the subordinate clause. This paper aims to explore the function of these adverbs also in the main clause and to determine their role in the pragmatic organization of the clause

Implementation Design Thinking Method in the Stage Arrangement of the Karma Gadis Bisu Theater by NS.The design thinking method is a method that is commonly used in the world of design, especially interior design, product design, and visual communication design. Design thinking adopts the way of thinking of a designer in carrying out his creative process. It can be said that design thinking is a method of thinking/perspective/point of view in doing something. This design aims to develop knowledge through the implementation of design thinking methods into the realism of theater stage design. The design process using this method uses 5 stages, Discovery, Interpretation, Ideation, Experimentation, and Evolution, and taking the object of the Karma Gadis Bisu script by NS. The results of this design are in the form of a qualitative concept of theater stage design data. Meanwhile, according to data searches on the scopus.com website, a theater stage layout design using this creative method has not been found. Therefore, this design is feasible to be continued. Keywords: design thinking method, stage sets, theater, Karma Gadis Bis

APPLICATION OF THE PRINCIPLES OF INTERIOR DESIGN SPATIAL PLANNING FOR THE THEATER STAGE WITH THE SCRIPT “PADA SUATU HARI” BY ARIFIN C. NOER

A stage artist (scenographer) uses his ability to create a background image of a performance according to the needs of the script, director, and play. In carrying out his work he must pay attention to artistic elements and involve various fields of science as well as multidisciplinary arts, including architecture for construction work, and interior design for space processing as well as on stage furniture. This paper attempts to describe the application of interior design spatial principles to the needs of stage artistic layout in theater performances, which are taken and studied through interior design principles according to D.K. Ching ie, Equilibrium; Harmony; Unity and Diversity; Rhythm; Emphasis; Scale and Proportion; Color, Texture and Light.Keyword: spatial planning, interior design, stage artistic layou

All-Optical Reinforcement Learning in Solitonic X-Junctions

Ethology has shown that animal groups or colonies can perform complex calculation distributing simple decision-making processes to the group members. For example ant colonies can optimize the trajectories towards the food by performing both a reinforcement (or a cancellation) of the pheromone traces and a switch from one path to another with stronger pheromone. Such ant's processes can be implemented in a photonic hardware to reproduce stigmergic signal processing. We present innovative, completely integrated X-junctions realized using solitonic waveguides which can provide both ant's decision-making processes. The proposed X-junctions can switch from symmetric (50/50) to asymmetric behaviors (80/20) using optical feedbacks, vanishing unused output channels or reinforcing the used ones

Central projections of the stretch receptor neurons of crayfish: structure, variation, and postembryonic growth

    Get PDF
Journal ArticleEach stretch receptor neuron (SR) of the crayfish abdomen projects from its peripherally located soma an axon that enters the CNS through the second nerve (N2) of its segmental ganglion. CoZ+ backfills of N2 revealed that this axon bifurcates, sending one branch to the brain and the other to the terminal abdominal ganglion

Developmental expression and biochemical analysis of Conulin, a protein secreted from a subset of neuronal growth cones

Journal ArticleIn this report, we analyze the developmental pattern of expression of a new grasshopper protein, Conulin, using the monoclonal antibody 7D2 on whole-mount embryos and dissociated neurons. We also have examined its biochemical properties by immunoblot analysis. Conulin is a protein expressed by a subset of neurons in the grasshopper embryo
